ST. PATRICK'S DAY PARADE
KILFLYNN is all set for their annual St Patricks Day parade. The Parade and the Fancy Dress Parade will commence at 4.00 p.m. sharp on Sunday 17th March from St Teresa's National School and make its way to the village. All those interested in Participating in the parade please assemble at the School at 3.30 p.m. Any organisations, business or individual wishing to take part in this year’s parade are very welcome to do so.  Kilflynn Community Together are organising this year's St Patrick’s Day Parade and are hoping to build on last year's success where over 20 groups took part. Interested groups can contact Niamh on 0863144157 to book their place  Again, this Year there will be a Trophy and 100 Euro for the Best float, 50 euro for 2nd place and 25 euro for 3rd place. There will be a Free kids disco after the parade in St. Columbas Centre, and all Fancy Dress participants will be presented with a medal. The name of the Grand Marshall, the person who will lead the 2019 Kilflynn parade, will be announced nearer the day It will be a wonderful gathering of the Kilflynn and surrounding communities awash with colour and imagination! Hope to see you all in Kilflynn.

SPLIT THE BUCKET
Kilflynn Community Together have a new and exciting fundraiser up and running called Split the Bucket, a monthly draw where entrants can win money for only €2. We have buckets at various Business around Kilflynn  – check out Kilflynn Community Together Facebook for a comprehensive list of venues. The concept of the draw is simple, simply place your €2 into the envelope at the venue, write your name and phone on the envelope and you could possibly ‘split the bucket!’  
All funds raised will go towards current and future community based projects.

KERRY SENIOR HURLERS
Westmeath claimed promotion to Division one for the first time in 33 years after a two point victory over Kerry, on final score of 0-12 to 0-10 played out in freezing conditions in Cusack Park, Ennis on Sunday 10th March. Kerry played with a very strong wind in the opening half and held a five-point lead at the break, although Fintan O’Connor’s side may have wanted to be further ahead at the interval as the wind was of huge advantage to the Munster side. There was Crotta Four representatives on the Kerry Panel with Sean Weir (cornerback) Jordan Conway (corner forward),Tomas O’Connor came on a sub, Darragh O'Donoghue and Adam O’Sullivan were also members of the panel.

ACTIVE RETIRED GROUP
The Abbeydorney Kilflynn Active Retired Group are meeting on Wednesday March 13th, in the Community Hall from I.00 p.m. -4.00 p.m.  There will be a safety talk from the Community Garda, Catherine Murphy, and 4 course meal for €10.  New members welcome.  A free bus service is available to collect people from their homes to the Abbeydorney  Community Hall every second Wednesday.

CROTTA LOTTO RESULTS
As a mark of respect for the late Michael Twomey, Kilflynn,  R.I.P The Crotta Hurling Club Lotto draw on Monday night was postponed until Tuesday night. Micheal is a brother to our club secretary Annette Nolan  and Club Treasurer Paud Twomey, and a uncle to our senior hurlers Shane and Richard Nolan.  
We offer our sincere condolences  to the Twomey & Nolan families Kilflynn. May he rest in peace.
The numbers drawn out of the drum by Independent observer: Mike Lynch,Tullig, Kilflynn, in Herbert’s Bar, on Tuesday night 12 March were 4,9,19 and 32. There was No winner of €10,100 Jackpot. COLLEGE HURLING
Crotta Hurler Barry Mahony captained, Limerick institute of technology Hurlers  to victory over a gallant Cork institute of technology side on Wednesday  night 6th March  in cork on a score of 1-22 to 1-13, they will now play the winners of university limerick or Mary immaculate in the all Ireland freshers colleges final in limerick next Wednesday. We wish Barry and his team mates the best of luck in the final.

The Crotta Hurling Club was proudly represented in solo singing by Eoin Griffin, Sean nós dancing by Tony Dowling and music group - Roisín Abeyta, Sarah Breen, Conor Brennan, Cillian Hussey and Thomas Breen. Our Sean nós dancer and our music group will go forward to the semi final. Comhghairdeachas libh go léir.

held their AGM recently at The Railway Bar Lixnaw.
The committee thanked our sponsors of 2018 for their generous and continued support. Anyone wishing to sponsor for 2019 can contact any member of the society.

COMORTAISI CHEANNAIS NA MUMHAN SCOR SINSEAR 2019
Unfortunately Sonny Egan representing The North Kerry Hurling Board, The Crotta Hurling Club and Kerry  in the Munster Final in the Scór Recitation competition in Cork City Hall on Saturday night 2nd March have been unsuccessful, it was a great achievement to get to the Munster Final and the club is very proud of Sonny. Well done to Sonny who acquitted himself extremely well on the night. Also thanks to Crotta scor officer Thomas Breen and Sean Abeyta who travelled to Cork on the night to support Sonny.

COLLEGE HURLING
Crotta Hurler Barry Mahony captained limerick institute of technology 1st Year hurlers to a victory on Thursday 28th February over UCC on a score of 2-16 to 2-12 and Barry scored a point from his wing back position, L.I.T now play cork institute of technology in the semi final on Thursday 7th March in Mallow. We wish Barry and his team mates all the best in the Semi final.

KILFLYNN TODDLER GROUP
The Kilflynn Toddler Group meets up every Thursday during school term from 10.00  to 11.30am in Saint Columbas Centre, Kilflynn. Join us on World Book Day on Thursday 7th March and ask your little ones to bring along their favourite book to group, we will lose ourselves in story time All new babies, toddlers, parents, grandparents and childminders welcome.

It’s that time of year again when the registration process needs to be completed and the membership fees fall due. The fee structure for 2019 is as below:
Senior Player €50.00
General Member €40.00
Juvenile (U18) €30.00
Family Plan €50.00 maximum
Non players must be paid up by 31st March 2019.
Players Must have paid 3 days before a game or training season for registration and insurance purposes.
A new  club policy introduced this year is No Pay, No Play.
This policy is to ensure that our players are covered in the event of injury
You can also pay online please go to the Club website www.crottagaa.club The Club will also facilitate a Registration Evening to support registration and collection of membership payments for members that cannot avail of the online system.

The North Kerry Hurling Board Scór na bPáistí competitions will be held on Saturday, 9th March at 7.30pm
In the White Sands Hotel, Ballyheigue.  We wish the best of luck to The Crotta Scor na bpaisi Music group of Sarah Breen,Conor Brennan, Cillian Hussey, Rosin Abeyta and Thomas Breen, and  Best of luck to Eoin Griffin who is representing the Crotta Hurling Club in solo singing competition and also to Tony Dowling who is representing the Crotta club in Sean Nos Dancing competition.

KERRY SENIOR HURLERS
The Kerry Senior Hurlers book their place in the Allianz Hurling League Division 2A Final when they had a 3-15 to 0-8 victory over Meath at Fitzgerald’s Stadium, Killarney on Sunday 3rd March. There was Crotta Four  representatives on the Kerry Panel with Tomas O’Connor, (wing back) Jordan Conway came off the bench and scored  (1-03) Adam O’Sullivan (Sub keeper)  Darragh O'Donoghue was also a member of the panel. Sean Weir was unavailable for selection due to injury.
A MINUTE'S silence was observed  before the game for the late John McCarthy. John  distinguished himself as a full back for the county throughout the decade, among the highlights of his intercounty career was being on the first Kerry team to play in Croke Park in 1952 when they lost to West Meath in a new competition for weaker counties.
He also won a Munster Junior Championship in 1956 when along the way they defeated a Tipperary team lead by the great Jimmy Doyle.
That Kerry team subsequently lost the All-Ireland to Kilkenny. John was still fullback when Kerry contested another Munster Junior Final in 1959, he was there again in 1960 which was one of his final games in the Green and Gold

Kerry and Westmeath will contest the Allianz Hurling League Division 2A
FINAL on Sunday, 10th March at 2.00p.m. in Cusack Park, Ennis. We wish the Crotta Players, their county team mates and their mentors the best of luck.
Crotta Hurling Club will be taking a bus to Ennis next Sunday to support Jordan , Sean, Thomas, Adam, Darragh & the Kerry senior hurling squad when they take on Westmeath in the Allianz Hurling League Div 2 final. If you are interested in travelling could you txt Mike on 0879794541 ASAP. The cost will be €15 or €20 for the bus, depending on numbers

ABBEYDORNEY GOLF SOCIETY A.G.M
was held on Friday 1st February. Well done to outgoing Captain Dan Hayes. Congratulations to Liam McCarthy who was selected Captain for 2019.
