CROTTA U-15 HURLERS WIN THE NORTH KERRY U-15 B TITLE
The Final of the North Kerry Hurling Board U-15 B Competition for The Edward Flahive Memorial Shield took place in the Tom Healy Memorial Park Abbeydorney  onTuesday 29th August, between Crotta and Kilmoyley. As Kilmoyley could only field 12 player's, the final was played 12 a side, shortly after the start Kilmoyley lost a player through injury.
After twenty minuets Kilmoyley led by 1-02 to 0-03 thanks to a Kian O’Regan goal, Crottawith Eoin Reilhan picking off a few points, went ahead when captain Tomas Dillon goaled. From there to half time Crotta took over thanks to a goal from Gavin Parker and points from Denis Nolan, they led at half time by 2-08 to 1-02.
The Second half provided good open hurling , Denis Nolan goaled and added points fromfrees. But Kian O’Regan Kilmoyley’s chief scorer kept his side in touch. In the end Crotta powered by Goalkeeper Donnacha Sayers, Sean McGrath, Adhan Behan, Gavin Parker and man of the match Eoin Reilhan ran out winners on a scoreline of 5-14 to Kilmoyley 5-05. After the game, North Kerry Hurling Board Chairman Pat Dineen  presented theEdward Flahive Memorial Shield to victories captain Tomas Dillon. NORTH KERRY U-14 B FINAL
On a wet and windy  Tom Healy Memorial Park Abbeydorney  on Thursday night 7th September Crotta and Tralee Parnells contested the final of the North Kerry "B" Championship (Todd Nolan memorial shield) in terrible weather conditions played  under floodlights.
Tralee Parnells played with the wind in the first half and got the better of the opening exchanges and only for some poor shooting by Parnells and some heroic defending by Crotta the match could have been over as a contest at half time. Credit must go to the Crotta lads though as they clawed themselves back into the game but Parnells struck for a goal just before the half hour mark and led at half time 1-02 to 0-02. The second half started at a frantic pace with both teams fighting tooth and nail for every ball. Crotta now had the wind at their backs and tried to press home the advantage but came up against some stern resistance from the Parnells lads. Crotta finally got the goal they deserved but try as they might they couldn't break down the stubborn Parnells defence for the all important second goal, leaving the final score 2-06 to 1-06 in favour of the Tralee men.
Credit must go to both teams for serving up an exciting game despite the atrocious conditions. Crotta will rue injuries to key players before the game but congratulations to Tralee Parnells on a well deserved victory on the night, proving too good for the Crotta lads.  The Crotta team line up was Donnacha Sayers, Calum Ryan, Darragh Keane (Captain), Gary Dillon, Paddy Trant, Sean McGrath, Niall Heton, Cillan Baker, Aaron McElligott. Mark Sheehan, Ryan Guieran, Sean McElligott, Jack Ryan, Gavin Parker and Dara Nolan. Subs Osin Heaton, Matt Healy, Dara Quilter, Martin McElligott. The Todd Nolan memorial shield was presented to Parnells captain Jerome Daly By Cyril Nolan. Man of the match went to Tadhg Reen. ST. TERESA'S NATIONAL SCHOOL RE-OPENS
St. Teresa's National School, Kilflynn reopened, after the summer holidays on Friday 1st September . Back in June it seemed like September and back to school time was a long way off. But it has arrived and to most children it only seems like a few weeks since they put away their school bags for the summer. For adults the back to school date signals an end to summer and all that goes with it – normality has returned.
Eighteen children commenced their education in Junior Infants in St. Teresa's N.S on Friday. Best of luck to the children who are starting primary and post primary for the first time. This is a very special time of year for them, and one that will stay with them for many years to come. Good luck to the sixth class who will be having their last year of national education before they move into secondary school in 2018, Also best of luck to the Teachers in their new School term, Cead Mile Failte to newly newly appointed principal  Íde Brosnan, from Castlegregory We wish Íde
every success  in her new appointment. A Cead Mile Failte to the 10 boys and 8 girls starting in Junior Infants. Kerry. Anam Cara offers a safe and comfortable setting where you can ‘drop the mask’ and be yourself among people who understand. This event is open to allbereaved parents regardless of the age your child died, the circumstances of their death, or whether the death was recent or not.
“The solidarity experienced by being among people who are bound together by a common feeling of appalling loss is a great help. None of us wanted to be in this group nor would wish it on others but the feeling of understanding - which doesn't need to be verbally expressed - is a support. We all understand.” For more information see anamcara.ie or ring their Information Line on 085 2888888.
