15th May 2019

PRAYER EVENING
There will be a prayer evening in Kilflynn Old Cemetery, Kilflynn Village on Monday 3rd June at 8.00p.m. We will have a remembrance evening of prayer for all those buried in the old cemetery in Kilflynn led by Fr. Denis O’Mahoney and Rev Jim Stevens. Please join us to recall and honour the memory of our families, friends and neighbours and all those who have gone before us and those that no longer have people to remember them. This gathering will also afford everyone the opportunity to contribute to the upkeep of the cemetery where their loved ones are buried. As you will see it is immaculately maintained by the local St. Columba’s Development Committee. Looking forward to seeing you and please inform anybody that may be interested in joining our prayer group evening. There will be light refreshments severed afterwards in St. Columba’s Centre. In the event of unsuitable weather conditions, the service will continue indoors.

KILFLYNN FIRST COMMUNION
Congratulations to the 17 boys and girls from St. Teresa's National School, Kilflynn who received the sacrament of First Communion in St Mary's Church, Kilflynn on Saturday 11th May. The celebrant at the edifying ceremony was Fr. Denis O’Mahony, Abbeydorney P.P., assissted by Fr. Lee Cahill.
It was an extremely well prepared ceremony. The children did themselves, their families and their school proud by the way they participated in the ceremony. The gratitude of all goes to their teacher Mrs Tina O'Connell and  Fr. Denis O‘Mahony, and the pupil's parents for all the work and effort they put into the ceremony and its preparation and who contributed to the First Communion Mass which will have a lasting memory for the 17 children. A special word of thanks to Fergus O'Sullivan , pianist, who accompanied Mrs O Connell's after school choir. Their beautiful music and singing enriched the ceremony. Each child participated in some way in the ceremony and afterwards all the camera happy relatives that took so many photos for the family album. The pupil's prayers were answered as the sun shone throughout their special day!
The children who received their Communion/blessing were Blathnaid Buckley, Rosalyn Buckley, Orlaith Brennan, Jennifer Casey, Sarah Fennell, Íde Hussey, Isabelle Kane, Avalon Knott, Grace O' Donoghue, Sarah O' Driscoll, Matt Cronin, Paddy Cronin, Daniel Diggins, Jack Mahony, Darren McElligott, Daithi Nolan and Bobby Ryan.
