THE LATE MOSS SPILLANE
It is with great sadness to hear of the passing of Maurice (Moss) Spillane, Balloonagh Estate and formerly Scartaglin. Moss was a constant figure at Austin Stacks Park,Tralee and his welcoming smile was ever present. On big match days/ trainings it was always a pleasure to speak with Moss who by the way always remembered everybody. His relaxed nature and kindness had a calming effect with teams. Moss along with his fellow grounds men maintain Austin Stack and Caherslee pitches to the highest standard and both were always available and in perfect condition to county and clubs teams when needed. A true GAA man and gentleman who presents will be sadly missed and I have no doubt his name will be spoken of fondly for many years to come. The Crotta Hurling club would like to extend our sympathies to his wife Mary, his daughters Michelle, Tracey, Deirdre and Ashling, his relatives, friends and GAA colleagues. Ar dheis De go raibh a anam.

GAA UPDATE
The GAA has confirmed that no official on-field activity will resume before July 20 and our facilities will remain closed until that date and will issue detailed advice before any return to play, outlining the steps needed to take to facilitate the re-commencement of our training and games, both in terms of physical engagement and around the use of our facilities.
The GAA Player Injury Scheme will remain closed until an official return to activity is confirmed.
Clubs are reminded that membership and public liability will need to be in place for the return of our activities and are advised to process same in the weeks ahead.
On the Sunday Game on 9th May, GAA President John Horan stated that there will be no return to club or inter county activities as long as social distancing stays in place. Contact sports like football and hurling would not be safe for our players.
He also stated that meeting up at club grounds in groups of four to train is not feasible at this point in time even though it is on the government overview of re-opening phases. We can take it from this that there will be no re-opening of club grounds or a return to training for our players for the foreseeable future.

FIRST HOLY COMMUNION
Fifteen children from second class at St Treasa's National School, Kilflynn were due to receive the
TheSacrament of the Eucharist (First Holy Communion) in St Mary's Church, Kilflynn on Saturday morning 9th May. A new date will be rearranged, but rest assured that you will have the opportunity to celebrate your special day when it is safe for us all to gather again, in the meantime Stay safe to the children and their families.
This is a lovely tribute from their class teacher Mrs Tina O’Connell . Well done Mrs. O'Connell
For the boys and girls who should have been making their First Holy Communion ...
Saturday the 9th of May,
Was supposed to be your Communion Day.
A day you gather with all your friends
And together your new journey with Jesus begins.
Your outfits all bought,
Dresses and suits
Veils and tiaras, converse and boots.
Prayers and songs all learned by heart,
And everyone ready to do their part.
The Church decorated with artwork done by you,
And everyone's name placed on their pew.
Candles lighting and the choir ready to sing,
Everyone just waiting for the Church bell to ring.
But alas, unfortunately, it just cannot be
Because you all need to be protected from this Covid-19.
So keep saying your prayers and showing God's love too,
And treating others as you'd like them to treat you.
When it is safer you will have your day
And I will be there to help you on your way.
Take Care for now,
Mrs. T. O' Connell x

Thought for the Week:
Charlie Chaplin lived for 88 years
He left four statements:
·         Nothing is forever in this world, even our problems.
·         I love to walk in the rain because no one can see my tears.
·         The most lost day in life is the day we don’t laugh.
·         Six of the best doctors in the world: -
·         Sun,
·         Rest,
·         Exercise,
·         Diet,
·         Self-respect,
·         Friends
Keep them in all stages of your life and enjoy a healthy life…
If you see the moon, you will see the beauty of God…
If you see the sun, you will see the power of God…
If you see a mirror, you will see God’s best creation. So believe it.
We are all tourists, God is our travel agent who has already defined our routes, bookings and directions… trust him and enjoy life.
Life is just a journey! So live today!
Tomorrow may not be.

LEAVING CERT
At long last there is clarity for Leaving Cert students with news coming through at the weekend that the Leaving Certificate has been cancelled. Well it is not completely cancelled.
Students now have the option of receiving calculated grades or sitting a postponed leaving Certificate exam later in the year when it is safe to do so. While it is not the ideal situation we hope it will relieve some of the stress being felt by our Leaving Cert students because of the uncertainty of the holding of these exams. We wish you all the very best and hope the outcome will be a positive one for everybody.
