KILFLYNN COMMUNITY TOGETHER
will hold their Annual General Meeting on Wednesday the 23rd of May at 9:00pm in St. Columbus Centre, Kilflynn . All Welcome!!
A review of the year gone by will be discussed on the night followed by an open discussion on ongoing projects and additional projects/issues the community would like addressed in the coming year.
On the night Residents will be given the opportunity to elect 6 representatives to sit on the KCT committee for the coming year.
local Businesses will also be given an opportunity to elect 6 representatives to the committee from within the business community at the meeting.
Local groups can nominate their representative for the coming year prior to the AGM.

COUNTY MINI 7S COMPETITIONS
23 Teams participated in County Cumann na mBunscol Mini 7’s Hurling/Camogie Competitions (15 Hurling & 8 Camogie) in the sportsfield in Abbeydorney on Thursday 10th May. St. Treasa's National Kilflynn boys team won their 2 group games against Spa and Scoil Mhic Easmainn and they defeated Lixnaw by 3-05 to 1-03 in the Semi-final. In a sporting final Ballyduff NS defeated Kilflynn n.s by 3-04 to 1-06, despite Kilflynn led by 1pt at half-time. 
It was a tough encounter between two good teams who gave their all for their schools.
The boys were a great credit to their manager Jerome O'Sullivan, their teachers, school and their parents on Thursday last. Well done boys and Congrats to Ballyduff. Two player's were selected from Thursdays games to play in Croke Park on All Ireland Hurling Semi-final day. Congrats to Sean Mc Elligott Kilflynn and Killian Boyle Ballyduff. Fantastic achievement boys to represent you Schools, Club and County at #Gaa HQ. 
The Kilflynn n.s Girl's team had mix luck with a victory over Glenderry and were defeated by  Drumnacurra /Ballincrossig  who went to win the competition. Well done Girls also a great credit to the School. Well done to everyone Involved in organising a successful competitions.

CAMOGIE MUNSTER FINAL
The Munster Junior Camogie Final, Cork against Kerry, is fixed for Sunday May 20th in Kilmallock at 5.30pm.
Defending Munster Junior Camogie Champions Kerry travelled to Newcastle West on Saturday evening  5th May and defeated lLmerick in the semi-final by 3-13 to 2-4. The Crotta players Jackie Horgan 1-00 and Aoife Behan 0-01 with Megan Weir was also a member of the panel. We wish the best of luck to the Crotta players Jackie Horgan (Captain), Aoife Behan and Megan Weir, their Kerry team mates and their mentors in the final.

ACTIVE RETIRED
A Social Evening for the Abbeydorney/Kilflynn Active Retired group will be held on Wednesday, 16th May, in Community Hall at 1.00 p.m. A meal will be served followed by entertainment. Transport can be arranged. (066) 7135831.

CAUSEWAY CAMOGIE NOTES
Camogie training for U8 & U10 girls takes place every Friday from 6 to 7 pm in the astro turf Causeway.  Training for U12 & U13 girls takes place every Monday & Thursday in the sports-field Causeway. Girls from all parishes are always very welcome to come along and give it a go.  Helmet & hurley will be provided.  This is a great way to get your child active & fit while also making new friends.  Cost €2

MUNSTER HURLING FINAL
Mercy Mounthawk Gaa  hurlers made history on Wednesday 9th May as they were the first Kerry team to win the Munster Post Primary Schools U15 E Hurling Final and it was the first Munster Final to be played at the new Kerry GAA Centre of Excellence in Currans. 
Mercy Mounthawk defeated Mount Sion, Colaiste Cluain Meala & Comeragh College on their way to the final where they defeated another Kerry team from Pobalscoil Inbhear Scéine, Kenmare 4-12 to 3-11. This was a very significant victory for a Kerry post primary school & we congratulate all involved.
The Crotta Gaa club was well represented on the Mercy Secondary School, Mounthawk Schools Hurling Team by Darragh Keane who played a star role at corner back, Congratulations to Darragh, his team mates and their mentors. Well Done boys. #CrottaAbu

KERRY SENIOR HURLERS
The Kerry Senior hurlers had better luck in the second round of the Joe McDonagh cup at Austin Stack Park, Tralee on Sunday 13th May, when they had a sweet victory over Laois on a score of 3-20 to 0-18.
The Crotta Hurling club was well represented on the Kerry team by Sean Weir (Corner Back),( 0-02) Barry Mahony (Centre Forward), 0-02 Shane Nolan (Corner Forward) (1-02) with Tomas O’Connor was one of the five subs used, Adam O’Sullivan and Paudie Quille were also members of the panel. Jordan Conway  is still unavailable due to injuries. Well done to the Kerry especially Sean Weir who put in a monumental performance in Kerry’s fullback line and even bagged two points from play from corner back. And he made the Hurling team of the week end for his display. Kerry are back on track in this competition and if they can secure a home win against Westmeath next Sunday in Austin Stack Park they can fancy their chances to progress to the final

CELTIC CHALLENGE CUP HURLING
Kerry U-17 Hurlers recorded another victory at Aghabullogue [near Coachford] on Wednesday, 9th May, in the 2nd  Round of the The Bank of Ireland Celtic Challenge Cup Full time Score Kerry 3-14 to West Cork 1-13. Well done to all especially the Crotta lads. Declan O'Donoghue 0.1 James Sheehan 1.2, Ryan Mc Elligott and Aodhan Mc Kenna.The Bank of Ireland Celtic Challenge is a hurling development competition for 16 and 17-year old hurlers. Kerry are playing in Group B together with Clare South/East, West Cork and Limerick.

HURLING RESULTS
Crotta U8’s team who took part in a blitz @ Dromakee on Thursday evening 10th May. Well done to all the players who participated. There will be another blitz next Friday evening 18th May, time and location to follow. Training continues for U6/ U8 this Sunday at 11 -12 as normal. KILFLYNN FIRST COMMUNION
Congratulations to the 18 boys and girls from St. Teresa's National School, Kilflynn who received the sacrament of First communion in St Mary's Church, Kilflynn on Saturday 6th May. The celebrant at the edifying ceremony was Fr. Denis O’Mahony, Abbeydorney P.P.
It was a very well prepared ceremony. The children did themselves, their families and their school proud by the way they participated in the ceremony. The gratitude of all goes to their teachers Mrs Tina O'Connell, Ms Aoileann De Hora, Rose Browne, Fr. Denis O‘Mahony, and the pupil's parents for all the work and effort they put into the ceremony and its preparation and who contributed to the First Communion Mass which will have a lasting memory for the 18 Children. A special word of thanks to Ms. Muireann McCarthy, organist, who accompanied Mrs O Connell's after school choir. Their beautiful music and singing enriched the ceremony. Each child participated in some way in the ceremony.
The children who received their Communion were, Aidan Beirne, Caoimhe Nolan, Cathal Slattery, Clodagh Buckley, Daniel Galvin, Emily O'Donoghue, Emma Horgan, Eoghan Abeyta, Eoin Mahony, Ethan Doyle, Fionn Hannon, James Doody, Keira O'Sullivan, Laura Buckley, Niall Quinn, Sarah Breen, Shane O'Donovan and Tate Ryan.

KERRY U16S
The Kerry U-16 Hurlers and their mentors travelled to Clare to take part in a Munster Blitz at the Centre of Excellence, Caherlohan on Saturday 5th May.
. Kerry had two games, first up were Tipperary which ended in a draw, 3-7 to 2-10. Their second game was against Limerick which Kerry won 4-14 to 1-09 and because Kerry finished with a better score difference, they were the competition winners so well done to all. The Crotta Hurling was represented on the Kerry team by Tadgh McKenna while Dermot Ryan was the victories manager.

KERRY SENIOR HURLERS
There was no joy in Dr Cullen Park, Carlow for the Kerry senior hurlers in the first round of the Joe McDonagh cup on Sunday, 6th May. Kerry lost by three points, Carlow 0-21 to Kerry 0-18. Up next for Kerry are Laois in Austin Stack Park next Sunday.
The Crotta Hurling club was represented on the Kerry team by Sean Weir (Corner Back), Barry Mahony (Centre Forward), with Tomas O’Connor, Adam O’Sullivan and Paudie Quille also members of the panel. Shane Nolan and Jordan Conway  are unavailable due to injuries.

KERRY U-15 HURLERS
The Kerry U-15 Hurling Panel participated in the Munster Blitz in Mallow Gaa Complex on Saturday 5th May.
Kerry were defeated by Mid/West Cork, South Tipperary and North Clare. The Crotta Hurling Club was represented on the Kerry team by Gavin Parker, Cillian Baker, Cian Hickey, and Niall Heaton with Sean McGrath was unavailable for selection. Next up for The Kerry U16 Hurlers is The All Ireland in August.

KILFLYNN COMMUNITY TOGETHER
The Annual General Meeting of The Kilflynn Community Together will take place on Wednesday night 16th May at 9.00p.m in St.Columbas Centre, Kilflynn. All Welcome.

SYMPATHIES
The Crotta Hurling Club extends it's deepest sympathies to the Fitzgerald and Healy families, and to all at St.Brendan's hurling club and Ardfert GAAfootball club, following the recent and sudden passing of former hurler and gentleman Mike Fitzgerald, Brandonwell, Ardfert.
Mike would have lined out against Crotta on many occasions in the blue and white.

 It was a Good game with some lovely hurling played at times. The Crotta hurling club was represented by Declan O'Donoghue at midfield, James Sheehan with three points to his name at wing forward, Ryan Mc Elligott coming on at wing back all did well. Aodhan Mc Kenna out injured will surely be back for next weeks game against West Cork.

The visitors had a better performance in the second Half to record a victory in the North Kerry Hurling Board Intermediate Championship in the sportsfield, dromakee on Sunday 6th May on the final score St. Brendan’s Ardfert GAA 4-09 to Crotta 2-13. The homeside led by 1-9 to 0-7  at the interval.

TRAD SESSION
There will a Traditional Music Session in Parker's Pub, Kilflynn on Sunday 6th May at 6.30p.m to 8.30p.m. The monthly traditional music sessions are famous and bring a wealth of musicians and music lovers to the Kilflynn venue.

WEDDING BELLS 
Heartiest congratulations and best wishes to Norma Conway, daughter of John Joe and Margaret Conway, Ballyrehan, Lixnaw and Barney Quilter, Son of Frank and Geraldine Quilter, Dromkeen East, Causeway
were married in St. Michael’s Church, Lixnaw on Friday 6th April. Fr Maurice Brick officiated at the beautiful ceremony.  The Bestman was William Quilter and Groomsman was Kevin Leahy, The Bridesmaids were Ciara Quilter and Rose Kelly. Pageboy Harry Quilter. A large crowd of family and friends attended the wedding ceremony and afterwards the wedding reception, which was held in Ballygarry House Hotel and Spa, Tralee. A great day and night, was had by all in attendance. We wish Norma and Barney many happy years of married life together.

HOLY WELL MASS
Due to the inclement weather on Tuesday evening 1st May . The Annual Mass at Tobar Flainn, Kilflynn was celebrated by  Fr Denis O'Mahony, In St. Mary‚s Church, Kilflynn and 12 members of the Church choir once again provided the Hymns and Music for occasion

CELTIC CHALLENGE HURLING COMPETITION 
Kerry's opening game is against Limerick Sarsfields in Dr Mick Neville Park, Rathkeale on Wednesday, 2 May, with a 7.30pm throw in.
The Bank of Ireland Celtic Challenge is a hurling development competition for 16 and 17-year old hurlers. Now in its third year, the competition has gone from strength to strength and in 2018 a total of 41 teams from all 32 counties will take part across eight groups that are determined on a geographical and developmental basis. 
There will be 1,250 players involved in a schedule of 135 matches that take place over an eight-week period. After an initial round robin group phase of matches, teams will be graded on their performance and will then be assigned to one of five Divisions for the quarter-finals, semi-finals and finals, where again they will compete against teams of a similar level of ability. Kerry will be playing in Group B together with Clare South/East, West Cork and Limerick
