KERRY HURLERS
Well done the Kerry Senior hurlers who qualified for the National League Hurling Div 2 Final with a one point victory over Mayo at  Cusack Park, Ennis on Sunday on the 1-17 to 1-16 final score line. Best of Luck to the Kerry Senior Hurlers, who play  Dublin in the National League Div 2  Final on this Sunday 30th April  in Semple Stadium, Thurles at 1.30 p.m as a curtain raiser to the National Senior hurling league Div 1 Final, between Limerick and Kilkenny.

MINORS
The Crotta minor’s hurlers had mix luck in Division one of the County Minor hurling, in round one played at Ballyheigue on 16th April, they were defeated by the home side 1-12 to 1-05. But the lads bounce with a draw against County minor holders Ardfert at Dromakee on Sunday morning 23rd April on The Score line of Crotta 2-11 to Ardfert 1-14. There was some excellent display of hurling by the younger players. Crotta team and Scores: Aaron Sheehan, Paul Lenihan, Phil Twomey, Jonathan Caffrey, Paul Costello, David Galvin, Alan Leen, Darren Twomey, Gary Marshall (0-01), Luke Sheehan, Shane Nolan(0-01), Cain Couinihan, Matt Lynch (1-08), David Moloney (1-00), and Padraig O’Leary (0-01) 
The Crotta Minors will play Kilmoyley this Sunday evening at 5.30 p.m in Lerrig in Round 3 of the County League.

KERRY MINORS
The Crotta hurling was represented by Philip Twomey, David Galvin and Darren Twomey on the Kerry Minor hurling team that were defeated by Clare in  Munster Minor hurling championship losers round played in Austin Stack’s Park, Tralee on Thursday evening 13th April. Clare 5-21 Kerry 0-10. Kerry will now play in the All-Ireland Minor B Championship.

SENIORS
The Crotta Seniors were defeated by Abbeydorney in the North Kerry League on Monday 10th April in Abbeydorney by 1-09 to 1-07.The home side led 1-05 to 0-04 at half time.
And at Lerrig on Easter Saturday evening 15th April, the senior hurlers got their County league Div 1 Campaign, off to a bad start with a defeat by Kilmoyley on the 2-14 to 0-04 Score line.
 
UNDER 16S
The Crotta under 16 hurlers lost to Ballyheigue in the North Kerry b Championship at Dromakee on Tuesday evening 18th April on 4-08 to 1-07 score line.

LOTTO RESULTS

DEATH
The Death has taken place of T.J Kearney, Cappa, Kilflynn on Wednesday 29th March at Kerry General Hospital, Tralee. His sister Mary Gallagher, in England predeceased T.J by Six weeks. T. J was well knowing the entire vintage Rally’s he attended, and was a great vintage collector and supporter of vintage events. His remains were removed from Gleasure’s Funeral Home, Tralee to St. Mary’s Church, Kilflynn on Friday evening 31st April. He was laid to rest in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Kilflynn on Saturday 1st May after requiem mass celebrated by Fr. Jack Fitzgerald. His comrades in Republican Sinn Fein provided a guard of honour at his removal and burial. The Graveside oration was given by Martin Ferris T.D. Local balladeer Moss Hannon sang and played Sean South of Garryowen in tribute. Sincere sympathy is extended to his Brother in law Nieces, Nephews, relatives and friends. May he Rest in peace.

DARTS
 The winners of the weekly Darts Doubles Tournament, in Parker’s Lounge Bar on Saturday night were Declan Falvey and Paud Twomey who defeated Kieran Nolan and Phil Morris in an exciting final 2-1; The winners received a leg of lamb each, with the runners up receiving a Easter Egg each.
Names must be in for the draw at 10.15 p.m. The Winners will receive a Leg of Lamb each.

VARIETY SHOW
Frances Kennedy of Listowel is hosting a big variety Show at St Johns Theatre in Listowel on Friday night May 28th.
When it comes to performing drama verse or song there are few that can equal Local man Sonny Egan who has been making a name for himself on stage and on the airways in recent years. Well known on the local entertainment arena Sonny is renowned for her humorous songs and prolific art of story telling.
It will be a case of Around the House and Mind the dresser with Sonny Egan with the famous Rambling House man is always a star attraction and among the other acts performing will include Stephen Donegan of Lisselton, Tom O Connell, Lixnaw, Thomas Costello, Lixnaw, John Paul Galvin, Asdee, Mike Joe Thornton, Banemore, Paddy Mc Elligott, Listowel and the best of yarn spinners from Kerry, Clare and Limerick. When Frances is at the helm be expecting anyone to ramble in on the night.
Frances and her husband Patsy are well known on the traditional entertainment scene and frequently assist at concerts. Frances also uses her prowess on stage to assist charity and last year raised a substantial amount of money for the Carers Association with a very successful show which re enacted The Straw boys.
 Now she is back in harness once again as she stages a fund – raising Variety Show. Once again she has left now stone unturned in lining up the very best of acts for the big show and a night of top draw entertainment is assured. Some of the finest entertainers from all over the Munster area will be performing providing a cocktail of acts to suit all tastes. Appearances are anticipated. Of course Frances Kennedy will also be performing and no doubt she will give everyone a good laugh. The master of ceremonies for the night is Patsy Kennedy so be expecting plenty of fun and craic. A great night of traditional entertainment is guaranteed and proceeds for the night in aid of Concern a voluntary organisation which is doing great work for impoverished people in the third world. Very large crowds of people young and old attended the Easter ceremonies in St. Mary’s Church, Kilflynn . The ceremonies were as follows: Holy Thursday, Mass of the Lord’s Supper at 8.30 p.m. Confessions after mass. The Church remain open until 10 p.m. Good Friday: Commemoration of the Lord’s Passion at 3.00 p.m. Prayer around the Cross at 7.30 p.m. Confessions after both Ceremonies. Holy Saturday Night: Easter Vigil and Mass of the Resurrection, Ceremony of light and Renewal of Baptismal Promises at 8.30 p.m. Easter Sunday Morning, Mass at the usual time of 10.am. The church was packed for all the ceremonies. Fr. Pat O‘Donnell, thanked all those who came along and welcomed the very many visitors who are on holidays in the area for Easter.

CROTTA BORD NA NOG
The Crotta Juvenile presentation night was held on Sunday 19th March, in St. Columbas Centre, Kilflynn. The hall was packed to capacity with young, excited hurlers, their parents and friends. A wonderful array of cups and plaques won last year was on display, a credit to those involved in underage affairs with the club. Crotta Bord Na Nog Chairman Sonny Egan addressed the audience and welcomed special Guest Eddie Murphy, parents and the boys and girls. In his address, Sonny said that the club was very proud of these young hurlers, who have done their club proud over the past year, and thanked their Mentors and he went on to list all of their achievements. He then called Eddie to present the County League medals to Under 12 hurlers. The under 14 and under 16 hurlers were also presented with their North Kerry and County league Medals by Eddie. All of the young players collected their Medals with such pride and confidence that it was a pleasure to watch them receiving their just rewards for all their hard work. Eddie, in his address, thanked the Crotta Hurling Club for inviting him to their special night, and great credit must go to all of the players, he advised them to “stick at it, keep up the training, and practice their skills”. There were tea and sandwiches for all the adults and the young folk had minerals and crisps. Well done to all.

HORSE RACING
Congratulations to Ballyrehan Duo of Kevin Galvin and John O’Mahoney, who were members of the Dew Drop Inn Syndicate, Lixnaw who’s Horse “Cailin Alainn” won at 12/1 at Fairyhouse on Sunday 16th April.

CROTTA BORD NA NOG A.G.M
Bord na nOg chairman, Sonny Egan, in his report, at the Annual General Meeting of Crotta Hurling bord na Nog Club held at St. Columbas Centre, Kilflynn on 22nd March, paid tribute to everyone involved in the promotion of underage Hurling and thanked all those who expended so much time and energy in coaching and training the young players. He said 2005 was a very successful year which saw the club win the County League under 12 Div 3 title, North Kerry league and County League 14 and 16 Titles. If those young players can be kept interested and together over the next 4 to 6 years then the future for the club looks good. Club Secretary Annette Nolan Said “On the field of play 2005 was probably one of the most successful years in Crotta Board na Nog history, At Underage level the Club had phenomenal success, Congratulations to all involved in coaching all these teams” The Treasurer's report was presented by Gerry Leinhan in excellent detail. The Crotta Senior Hurlers got their season off on a winning note, with an impressive victory over Kilmoyley in the North Kerry league on Monday evening 3rd April on a 2-11 to 0-15 final score line. Crotta led at half time by 1-06 to 0-07. Crotta team and scorers: Jerome O’Sullivan, John P. KILFLYNN DANCERS SOCIAL
Kilflynn Dancing Group held their Annual Social night on Saturday night 1st April at Ballyroe Heights Hotel, Tralee. Up to fifty people enjoyed a lovely meal and John Pat Murphy provided plenty of music for the group to show off their dancing skills. The dancing group is now in its 10th year, and is one of the longest running in the county.

ANNUAL BALLYSEEDY MARTYRS COMMEMORATION
A large crowd turned out on Sunday, April 2nd, to pay tribute to those Republicans who lost their lives at Ballyseedy and also at Clashmealcon, Causeway during the Civil War. The march, led by the Ballyseedy Martyrs Band, commenced at Kilflynn Bridge and made it's way to the burial place of Lyon's, Tuomey and O'Shea. The commemoration was chaired by Johnny Hannon and he paid tribute to the large attendance. He said that such an attendance was testament to the esteem in which the memories of the men were still held. Wreaths were laid and the oration was delivered by North Kerry Sinn Fein TD, Martin Ferris, who paid tribute to those who paid the ultimate price for their commitment to the struggle for Irish Freedom. The commemoration ended with the playing of Amhran na bhFian. A very enjoyable evening was had by all at a Ballad Session at Parker's Bar, with The Dodgy Few proving the music.

Richard Nolan, The Waterfall, Kilflynn successfully completed a Hurley banding course at Causeway Comprehensive School recently .Richard is now available to fix Juvenile Hurleys.
