ABBEYDORNEY/KILFLYNN COMMUNITY GAMES NEWS
QUIZ:The past fortnight, during Easter, has been extremely busy but quite successful as well. On Fri. March 22nd, our u14 quiz team of Shane O Donovan, Aidan Leahy, Edith White,Adam Maunsell,Keith O'Connor and Oisin Maunsell participated in the county final. For long periods of the competition they were well in contention but, unfortunately, at the end they finished just outside of the medals. We congratulate them on a great achievement and we look forward to next year as four of the team are still young enough to take part. Our thanks to Bernie Shanahan and Mary Brassil who coached the team since Christmas and without whose help we couldn't enter a team.
JUDO:Sean Murphy represented us in judo at the Munster finals which were held in Tralee on Easter Saturday. However, even though he fought very well, he did not qualify for the National finals. I' m certain Sean will be back next year to carry the flag for the area once again.

CROSS COUNTRY/ DUATHLON
Both competitions were held in a very cold, windy but dry Beaufort on Easter Monday.Tadgh McKenna was our sole representative in the cross country and even though he didn't have a medal for his endeavours at the end,he ran a very good race in challenging conditions and can be very proud of himself.
For the McKenna family it wasn't the only interest they had in Beaufort that day as their son Jeaic was also competing in the gruelling duathlon which consists of a run of 1200m, an 8km cycle and then another run of 1200m.This was Jeaic's first time ever competing in such an event and he did so with great aplomb. He ran and cycled as if his life depended on it and he was justly rewarded for his efforts as he won the gold medal, comfortably ahead of the field, and also the opportunity to represent his county at the national finals in May. Jeaic made history on the day as the duathlon is a new event on our calendar and he is now the county's first winner of the duathlon. Congratulations Jeaic.

CYCLING
Tadgh McKenna was in action again on last Friday night when he took part in the grass cycling u12 and won a bronze medal for his efforts on the bike.Well done Tadgh.

HURLING
Finally, our u11 hurling team were in action on Saturday morning 6th April in Ballyduff. They were drawn in a group with Kenmare and Lixnaw and narrowly lost both games which left them out of medal contention. However I'm sure they will be back and many of them are young enough again next year.

The play is set in modern times and revolves around the trials and tribulations of various members of one family and their neighbours. One of the main characters James Ryan is a teacher on summer holidays, whose obsession with writing a play for the summer is driving everyone mad. Meanwhile his brother Declan is intent on seducing James"s wife Trish, who is not getting the attention she feels she deserves!
Alongside this, Trish"s father Kevin Mitchell is having an affair with the local physio, Rosaleen Flavin, and when James finds out about it, he decides to use the story as a basis for his play. Kevin"s wife Netta has her suspicions about Kevin and is determined to find out what"s going on, but gets in trouble with the local guard Patrick Doyle, when she is reported to Traffic Watch for dangerous driving. Add in to the mix the nosy neighbour Biddy Hunt and the eccentric Justin Tweedy, the producer of James play and things really get confusing.
