ABBEYDORNEY/KILFLYNN COMMUNITY GAMES
Last weekend proved to be a great weekend for our area in community games. On Saturday 24th April, The boys from Abbeydorney/Kilflynn were victorious in the u-11 hurling competition which was held in Ardfert. Five areas participated - Ardfert/Kilmoyley, Causeway, Ballyheigue, Kenmare and Abbeydorney/Kilflynn.
The boys had a comprehensive win in the first game against Ardfert/Kilmoyley and even though their second game against Ballyheigue was much closer, they never looked like losing it. These victories saw them make it into the final against Kenmare, who had beaten Causeway in their group Kenmare started with a flourish and at half time, they were winning 1-1 to no score. However, with the strong wind at their backs, Abbeydorney/Kilflynn during the second half rose to the challenge and began to show their class. They dominated throughout the field and scored 4-1 much to the delight
of their supporters. The final score was Abbeydorney/Kilflynn 4-1, Kenmare 1-1. Congratulations to these wonderful young hurlers who are a credit to their families, coaches and area. The Munster finals in July now beckon. Our thanks also to their trainers Paul O'Donoghue and Timmy Spillane. Well done to all.

Kevin O'Sullivan, Mark Hussey (Crotta Hurling Club), John Brennan (Kilflynn Vinatge Club) and Tom Mc Elligott (Kilflynn Development Area Association) were casting their eyes over the Eighty individual groups who participated. MC Micahel Neenan delivered a witty running commentary on each passing float and groups, some of these were seen to breathe a sigh of relief when they weren't the target of the jovial Kilflynn Development Area Association Chairman.

VICTORY FOR LIXNAW/CROTTA MINORS
Lixnaw/Crotta captured the Jimmy King Memorial shield following their 0-14 to 2-5 win over Ballyheigue in the North Kerry A league final in Causeway on Sunday 18th April. In a tight, tense affair, Lixnaw/Crotta came from six points drift half way through the second half to put in a turbo charged finish which kept the supporters on the edge of their seats right to the very end. The first half was a low key enough affair, one point separated the teams at half time, 0-5 to 0-4 in favour of Ballyheigue. Two Brendan Brosnan points, one from Ricky Heffernan and one from Tommy Allen just before the break left the bare minimum between the teams. Both teams were finding it hard to hit the target in the third quarter but a Ricky Heffernan point levelled up the contest. Ballyheigue looked like they had come up with the winning combination when they hit Lixnaw/Crotta for two rapid goals in succession. Lixnaw/Crotta had to throw caution to the wind and the team management rang in the changes because it really looked like it was all over. Brendan Brosana moved to centre forward with Jonathan Silles reverting to the centre back position. Four Brendan Brosnan points, two from play, two from frees and one from Jonathan Silles reduced the margin to one single point. A Sean Weir point left it 2-5 to 0-11 and game up for grabs, five minutes remaining. Lixnaw/Crotta applied wave after wave of attack which Ballyheigue had no answer to. Brendan Brosnan closed out the contest with a hat-trick of points for game, set and match.
After the game Gerard Doyle, secretary of the North Kerry hurling board presented the Jimmy King Memorial shield to a delighted Lixnaw/Crotta captain Jonathan Silles.
Well done to the team management of Padraig Fitzmaurice and Joe McAuliffe.

KILFLYNN CHURCH CHOIR
The Kilflynn Church choir would like to thank the people of the Parish and beyond who supported our recent evening of music and song in such large numbers. The Church was full to capacity with an appreciative audience which is most encouraging. We would like to thank the stewards, volunteers and sponsors Mike and Geraldine Parker, who helped to defray some of the lighting and sound expenses involved. St. Mary's Church was tastefully decorated for the occasion thanks to the local florist, Christina Hickey. A special thank you to Fr. Jack Fitzgerald and Fr. Kevin O'Sullivan for placing the Church at our disposal and for their continued help and encouragement. To Maureen and Tom Mc Elligott who have facilitated us in every possible way since rehearsals began last November, we say thank you. Kay Keane was responsible for the printing and distribution of tickets, thank you Kay. Pat and Joan Herbert, Maria Byrne Kilflynn P.O., Joan O'Connell and the people associated with the Kerry ABA school who promoted and sold the tickets, again we say thank you.

Thank you also to our young musicians Aoife Mahony, Bríd O'Sullivan and Sinéad O'Sullivan who excelled on the night.
The musical interlude was provided by invited guests Patrice and Clodagh O'Connor who were joined by their sister, our own Evelyn O'Sullivan. Their performance and voice range was outstanding and had the audience enthralled.
Our principal beneficiary was the Kerry ABA, Autism School Listowel, a fact that was graciously acknowledged by Bernie Sheehy, Principal Scoil Réalta na Maidne, Listowel. Performing for you was a pleasure and we hope you enjoyed the evening. We shall update you shortly on the amount of funds raised.
