TWO MINISTERS VISIT KILFLYNN
The Minister for Children and Youth Affairs, Frances Fitzgerald and Minister for Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht, Jimmy Deenihan paid a visit to Expressive Play, in the vibrant village of Kilflynn, on Monday afternoon, 23rd April. Expressive Play , Children's Therapy Service, is a children's healing centre offering support for parents, professionals and children on a one-on-one basis and through workshops. Edel Lawlor and her staff work with children, imparting life skills to enable them to deal with conflict, bereavement or other issues. They work through these issues through the medium of play; super hero’s and fairy themes allow children to use their imagination while developing key life skills.
Expressive play was delighted and honoured to have two Ministers visit their centre to discuss very important issues related to children and parents. Play Therapy was discussed and the wonderful workshops for children and parents that are held at the centre. A very first in the world of politics, both Ministers got to meet a real Fairy and they even left with a bag of magic dust. Farrah the Forest fairy lives in Kilflynn and runs magical workshops for children. It was a great honour to have two ministers visit the picturesque village.

SCHOOL REUNION
A full school reunion for St.Teresa’s National School Kilflynn will take place on Sunday June 3rd. There will be mass in the church followed by an afternoon of celebration in the school itself, including entertainment of all kinds and plenty of refreshments. Invitations are currently being prepared and will be posted to past pupils over the coming weeks. To make contact with all past pupils is an almost impossible task and some people may be omitted so if you have any friends or family away from home let us know so that everyone is invited. We would also be grateful for addresses of family members who have moved away from the area. On the day we will be launching a book to commemorate a century of education at St. Teresa's and photographs are still being sought for inclusion as the response to the photograph search has been poor. So if you have any old photos please forward them to the school or to John O’Flaherty or Mike Parker. The final date for photos to be included in the publication is May 1st, photographs will still be welcome after this date but will only be displayed on the day. Several past pupils have forwarded stories about their time in the school and a number of older past pupils have been interviewed. If you have any memories of the school please forward them to us as soon as possible. The reunion day promises to be a huge occasion in the community and full details of the programme of events will be advertised later.

Sincere sympathy is extended to Anne Sheehan, Castletown, Kilflynn on the death of father, Michael 'Mike Joe' Aherne, Marian Crescent, Ballybunion. May he rest in peace.
The death took place of Sheila Harmon, (nee Stack) (Garrynagore, Lixnaw, and late of Tournageeha, Listowel, on Friday 6th April, (peacefully) at Listowel Community Hospital, loving wife of the late James; sadly missed by her loving daughter Patricia, son-in-law Jimmy, brother Kevin, predeceased by her sisters Kit and Eileen, sisters-in-law, nephew, nieces, grandchildren, relatives and friends, to whom we offer our deepest sympathy.

THE LATE DIARMUID GALVIN
It was with great sadness we learned of the death of Diarmuid Galvin, Crotta, Lixnaw on Monday Morning 9th April (peacefully) at his residence. He will be sorely missed as a true friend and gentleman, always honest and straightforward with good humour and a positive attitude to life which he transmitted to all he met. He was a quiet and unassuming popular person and it was reflected by the large number of people that came to pay their respects and attended his funeral at his residences on Monday evening, at Stack's Funeral Home, Lixnaw on Tuesday evening, followed by removal to St. Michael's Church, Lixnaw. The funeral Mass was celebrated by Fr Maurice Brick Lixnaw and Fr Gerard O’Connell, Irremore, to an overflowing congregation, on Wednesday Morning. Fr. Brick who was a great support to Diarmuid and his family since he was taken ill. The beautiful music and hymns was rendered throughout the mass by The O’Sullivan brothers, Gene and Fergus. After the funeral Mass, Diarmuid was interred in St. Mary's Cemetery, Kilflynn,
His coffin was draped in the Green and Red colours of his beloved Crotta hurling club, and an impressive guard of honour, comprised of past and present club members and his former players and current players from the Coiste na nOg, The Senior club and club officers, flanked the funeral cortege on both days. Diarmuid was also held in high esteem by his Former work colleagues at Kerry Group and The Lixnaw Golf Society who also formed a guard of honour on Tuesday evening.
We offer our prayers and sympathies to his wife Eileen, his sons Jer and David, brothers Kevin, John, Tom, Dan and Pat, his uncle, aunts, nephews, nieces, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, relatives, neighbours, and a large circle of friends. May the light of heaven shine on his soul.

The U12 teams will play Kilgarvan away and Rathmore away on Friday April 20th at 7pm.
Sympathy Crotta Coiste na nOg would like to express sincere sympathy to the Galvin family on the recent death of Diarmuid Galvin, Crotta. Diarmuid was instrumental in organising underage hurling in the 1970's and 1980's and coached so many young lads in those years. Some of the current coaches at the Club would have been coached by Diarmuid and he gave them a great love of the game. No matter how you played or how much you were beaten Diarmuid always gave you hope for the next match. One of his great achievements was to guide Crotta to a minor County Final in 1981 where they were unlucky to lose to an older St Brendans team. Diarmuid also trained the victories Crotta u-14 hurlers to County Championship title in 1980. As a mark of respect to Diarmuid the mentors of the U12 Crotta team decided that the number 10 jersey would not be worn last Friday evening in the games against Ballyduff and Na Gaeil. May Diarmuid Rest In Peace.
