CROTTA U-13 HURLERS CAPTURED THE NORTH KERRY TITLE
The North Kerry Hurling Board U-13 B Final for the Michael O’Connell Memorial Shield took place in Abbeydorney on Tuesday 22nd August , between Abbeydorney and Crotta. Final Score Crotta 0-09 to Abbeydorney 0-08.
It was a very evenly contested game and Abbeydorney powered by Jack Hannon led by 4 points to 1 point after 10 minuets, however Crotta then took over and with Rory Mahony in excellent form got the next 6 points to lead at half time by 7 points to 4 points, with Sean McElligott getting Crotta’s other point.
Abbeydorney had slightly the better of the second half and reduced the deficit to 1 point, but Rory Mahony again had Crotta ahead before the Abbeydorney goalkeeper brought off a great save from Evan O’Sullivan.
Both goalkeepers had great games, with Donnacha Sayers in the Crotta goalie also making great saves. After a hard fought game in which Gary Dillon the Crotta full back and Seanie McElligott andRory Mahony further out the field, Crotta held on to win by 1 point, thereby winning North Kerry B championships three years in a row. After the game The Michael O Connell Memorial Shield was presented to Crotta victories Captain Donnacha Sayers, by his widow Mrs Mary O’Connell. Michael R.I P. is an ex Abbeydorney hurler
Pat Dineen represented the North Kerry Hurling Board. Calum O’Sullivan of Abbeydorney was named Man of the match. Congrats Calum. Also Congratulations and well done to the Crotta players and their mentors of Dermot Ryan, J.P Hickey and Paul Shanahan on the victory. The victorious Kerry U-15 Hurlers pictured with mentors who captured the Munster U-15 shield by defeating Tipperary by 3-5 to 1-8 in the new Centre of Excellence in Caherlohan, Clare on Saturday 27th August

KERRY U-14, U-15 AND U-16 HURLERS
The Kerry U14, U15 & U16 Hurling Teams were in Inter-County Action on Saturday 27th August. The U14 Team travelled to De La Salle GAA Club in Waterford to take part in Tony Forristal/Sonny Walsh Tournament. Their first opponents were the home team and at half time the Kingdom led 2-4 to 1-7. In the second half Kerry continued to find the Waterford net and pushed into a 4-6 to 1-10 lead. Waterford tried hard to come back but Kerry held on to record a 5-8 to 2-11 win.. Clare had defeated Waterford so the winners of the Banner versus the Kingdom would face Limerick in the semi-final. Clare were a much tougher outfit and afforded the Kerry forwards very little space. At half ime the Banner Boys led 0-10 to 0-04. Kerry tried hard in the second half and after a number of goal attempts eventually found the Clare net. However, a strong Clare outfit held on to win 1-13 to 1-04. A great effort by the Kerry Boys. Crotta were well represented by Sean McGrath, Cillian Baker, Rory Mahony and Aaron McElligott who all hurled well.
The Kerry U15 Team travelled to The Clare Centre of Excellence at Caherlohan. They faced a very strong Cork outfit in the first game going down to The Rebels by 6 points, 2-4 to 1-13. They recovered well to defeat Limerick the second game by 4-14 to 2-06. They faced Tipperary in the Division 2 Final and won on a scoreline of 3-05 to 1-08. Congrats to the Kerry Players, especially the Crotta boys  Aodhan Behan and Tadgh McKenna. The victories Kerry team was managed by Dermot Ryan with Maor Uisce, Calum Ryan.
The Kerry U16 Team took part in the Bórd Chontae Thiobraid Árann C.L.G.Coiste Na nÓg Arrabawn Co-Op All-Ireland U16 Tournament  in Cahir Co Tipperary. where they had a mighty victory over Limerick in their first game by 2-09 to 1.10, in their second game they lost to Meath by one point after a fantastic display on the final score by Kerry 1.16 Meath 3.11. in their 3rd and final game Kerry 3.11 Laois 5.10, a five point loss but unbelievable game to be fair.
Considering these aren't traditional hurling teams they both played brilliantly. Well done  to Crotta players Declan O'Donoghue captain and along with Aodhan Mc Kenna, James Sheehan and Daniel O Rourke who all played superbly and did both their county and club proud.Well done to all involved.
