ST. VINCENT DE PAUL SOCIETY
The St Vincent de Paul Society church gate collections take place this weekend in St. Mary’s Church, Kilflynn on Saturday 7th and Sunday 8th December. It is hoped that those, who can afford to give to the collection, will give generously. The St Vincent de Paul Society charity warns that spiralling demand on its services has forced it to spend nearly twice as much as it did four years ago.
Demand for their services has doubled – they are now helping people who three or four years ago would have been contributors, But now they’re seeking assistance for everything from food and fuel to help with educational costs and utility bills.
They have also decided to give people who are not regular churchgoers the opportunity to donate as well, please contact Joan on 087 6840233. They can be assured that the money they contribute locally will be used locally in tandem with the proceeds from the church collection. The St Vincent de Paul Society would like to thank all that have supported them in the past and look forward to your continued support.

KILFLYNN CANCER SUPPORT GROUP ANNUAL TABLE QUIZ
The Kilflynn Cancer Support Group are presently organising their tenth annual Table Quiz in aid of Cancer services in Kerry. The quiz will be held in Parker’s Pub and Herbert’s Bar, Kilflynn on Friday night, December 27th at 9.00 p.m. The group was originally set up by Fr. Pat O'Donnell in 2004. Pat is a cancer survivor and came up with the idea of holding a fundraising quiz in Kilflynn at Christmas time. Even though cancer affects every household in some way the support for this fundraiser exceeded all expectations. The success of the first quiz ensured that it would become an annual event. As well as being a great fundraiser it has now turned into a great social occasion each Christmas with the same faces returning each year. It is wonderful to see those who live away from Kilflynn supporting the quiz with their families at a time of year which is all about giving, sharing and spending time together. To date the small community of Kilflynn has made a substantial contribution in providing added care to cancer patients and their families and to date has raised over €50,000
