KILFLYNN CANCER SUPPORT GROUP ANNUAL TABLE QUIZ
The Kilflynn Cancer Support Group will hold their annual Table Quiz in aid of Cancer services in Kerry in Parker’s Pub and Herbert’s Bar, Kilflynn on Sunday night, December 28th at 9.00 p.m The group was originally set up by Fr. Pat O'Donnell in 2004. Pat is a cancer survivor and came up with the idea of holding a fund-raising quiz in Kilflynn at Christmas time. Even though cancer affects every household in some way the support for this fund-raiser exceeded all expectations. The success of the first quiz ensured that it would become an annual event. As well as being a great fund-raiser it has now turned into a great social occasion each Christmas with the same faces returning each year. It is wonderful to see those who live away from Kilflynn supporting the quiz with their families at a time of year which is all about giving, sharing and spending time together.

SEASONS GREETINGS
As these are the last notes before Christmas, I would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone a Happy and Holy Christmas and a peaceful and hopefully prosperous 2015.

KILFLYNN CHRONICLE
The Kilflynn Chronicle, a parish magazine last published in 2010 hits the bookshelves This week end. The magazine has Eighty colour pages of history, stories and reminiscences, local new, poetry and photographs, both old and new and is a must for everyone interested in local history no matter where you live.
The Chronicle will be available from this weekend in local shops and pubs and at Polymath Books in Tralee at 10 euro.

ACTIVE RETIRED GROUP
The Abbeydorney/Kilflynn Active Retired Christmas Outing will take place on Wednesday 17th December to McHale's, Causeway. A meal will be served, followed by entertainment. Bus will leave Abbeydorney Community Hall at 1.30 p.m. If transport is needed, phone 7135831

ST. TREASA'S NATIONAL SCHOOL
Radio Kerry came to visit the school on Thursday 11th December and we were honoured to have them record Miss. Enright’s Christmas play ‘It’s a baby’. The children did a fantastic job!! Their performance will be on the Radio Kerry programme Horizons on Sunday the 21st December from 9 a.m. and also on Christmas Day at 10 a.m.

ALL STAR AWARDS
The second annual Kerry Hurling All Star awards function took place in Parkers Pub, Kilflynn last Saturday night. Congratulations to all those who were nominated, especially Crotta player Sean Weir and Sean Nolan and well done to Shane Nolan who was selected on the All Star team 2014. Darragh Shanahan was the Young Player of the Year award and Tom Murnane (Player of The Year) while Louise Hannafin won the Best dressed lady title and David Silles won the Best Dressed Man title. Guest on the night Declan Lovett and David and Ogie Moran presented the awards.

CHRISTMAS CONCERT
Festive cheer was certainly in the air around Kilflynn on Sunday night 7th December with a celebration of seasonal music and song in St. Mary’s Church. St.Teresa's National School First class were in lively form with an energetic performance of the Christmas musical ‘It’s a Baby!’ The 3rd–6th class pupils from St.Teresa's National School performed a selection of traditional tunes and Christmas songs that ensured everyone was entertained. The Kilflynn Church Choir provided a variety of beautiful and well chosen songs and put on a superb performance. Bishop Ray Browne was in attendance and praised the hard work and dedication of everyone involved in the concert. Your support on the night was very much appreciated. Nollaig Shona Daoibh Go Léir.

PRIMARY DEBATING IRELAND
On Monday, 1st of December, 6th Class pupils from St. Teresa’s National School, Kilflynn travelled to The Education Centre, Tralee to take part in the Primary Debating Ireland Competition. Our team opposed the motion ‘Every child of school going age should have a mobile phone.’ It was evident that the children had prepared well and spoke confidently with impressive debating skills. Well done to all involved.

Parker's Dart team defeated O'Connors Bar, Ballyduff in the North Kerry Darts Semi Final by 5-4 on Friday night 5th December in McHales Stretford End Bar, Causeway, and were defeated by the host team McHales Stretford End Bar, by 6-3 in the Final also played on Friday night. MUNSTER TILTES FOR ARDFERT AND STACKS
Congratulations and well done to Ardfert senior footballers and their management who captured the Munster Intermediate title on Saturday 29th November at Fitzgerald Stadium, Killarney with a 1-12 to 1-10 victory over
Valley Rovers (Cork). Also Congrats and well done to Austin Stacks Senior Footballers and their back room team who
were crowned Munster Senior Champions at Pairc Ui Rinn, Cork on Sunday 30th November with a 3-05 to 2-04 victory over The Nire (Waterford) and ended a 38-year wait for provincial silver.

NORTH KERRY CHAMPIONSHIP
St. Senan's and Brosna Senior Footballers will have to meet again In The Bernard O Callaghan Memorial Senior Football Championship Quarter Final as the finished all level at the final whistle, Brosna 1-08 St Senans 0-11 played on Saturday 29th November in Duagh.

ST. VINCENT DE PAUL

BIRTHDAY
Monday 1st December was a very special day for Kitty lenihan, of Leith, Abbeydorney, Tralee,,as she reaches her birthday of 101 years of youth. Thank God she is in great health. She was born on the1st of December 1913 (known locally in Abbeydorney as the 'Fair of the Cross' ) All her family, neighbours and friends both in Kerry and in Fairgreen Green Heights , Tuam. Co Galway wish her a wonderful day and good health. She has been a friend to many and her love of family, friends, music, song, poetry and the written word has stayed with her till this day. What a joyous day? Wisdom is the blessing of age.

NORTH KERRY JUVENILE AWARDS NIGHT
Crotta Hurler John Quilter received his Man of the Match Award at the North Kerry Hurling Board Juvenile awards night at The Ballyroe Heights Hotel on Friday 28th November. John was awarded The man of the match award for his performance in the North Kerry Hurling U15 “A” final scoring 4-01 at corner forward against Causeway. John received his award from Pat Dineen (North Kerry Hurling Board Secretary). Well done to all winning teams and awards recipients. Congratulations to North Kerry Board and Ballyroe Heights Hotel on a very enjoyable ceremony

MINOR HURLERS
The Abbeydorney/Crotta Minor Hurlers booked their place in The County minor hurling league Division 1 final, when they defeated County Minor hurling champions Lixnaw by 3-15 to 2-16 on Saturday 29th November at John Mitchels GAA grounds in Tralee in the County league semi final
Abbeydorney/Crotta Team: Adam O Sullivan, Kieran Lyons, Stevie O Sullivan, Jordan Welsh, Thomas Quinlan, Tom McElligott (Village), Ronan Donovan, Tomas O Connor (0-01), David Egan (1-01), Jordan Conway (0-02), Michael O Leary (0-12) (7frees) Colin Brown, Dylan McElligott, Darragh O'Regan (0-01) and Raymond Nolan (2-00). Subs Cian McCarthy, Daire Dineen and Eoin O'Connor. We wish a Speedy recovery to Jordan Conway who took a heavy knock during the game and went of injured after 15minutes and hopefully will be back for the final. Referee Paddy White

Crotta Hurlers at the Kerry Senior and Minor Medals Presentation Night, held in the Fels Point Hotel on Saturday 29th November were: Sean Weir, Adrian Mahony, Tom McElligott, Daire Dineen, Shane Nolan, Darragh Ryan and Jordan Conway.

KERRY SENIOR AND MINOR MEDALS PRESENTATION NIGHT
The Kerry Senior and Minor Hurlers – winners of the 2014 Allianz Hurling League Division 2A and the All-Ireland Minor ‘B’ Championship titles – received their medals at a function hosted by the Kerry County Board, G.A.A. in Fels Point Hotel Tralee on Saturday 29th November Guest of honour, Robert Frost, Cathaoirleach, Comhairle na Mumhan made the presentations. Congratulations and well done to Crotta Hurlers, Darragh Ryan, Adrian Mahony, Jordan Conway and Tom McElligott (The Village) who received their All-Ireland Hurling Minor B medals, and Congrats and well done also to Sean Weir and Shane Nolan who received their Allianz National Hurling League Division 2 and Christy Ring Cup runners up Medals.

DARTS
Phil Morris and J.P Twomey defeated John Leahy and Mike Fealy to win fresh Turkeys on Saturday night 29th November in the double darts tournament in Parker's lounge Bar. The next darts doubles tournament takes place on Saturday night 6th December at 10.30 p.m. in Parkers snug Bar as the The Kerry Hurling All Stars 2014 will take place in the lounge.
