THE DEATH OF PADDY BRENNAN

Paddy Brennan R.I.P

The local community and beyond were greatly saddened at the news of the death of Paddy Brennan, of Rae, Kilflynn, Tralee, who passed away peacefully, at Kerry General Hospital, in the loving care of the staff of Muckross ward, On Tuesday 15th January. Paddy, son of the late Ciss and Willie, was born in 1947. He worked on the family farm all his life and loved tending the cattle, going to the bog and helping out others. He loved outdoor life and Irish music.
Paddy was cared for at home by his aunt Nora Brennan R.I.P and later by his sister in law Eileen and his brother John following the death of his mother when he was 20.
His sad passing at the age of 60 will create a void in the area and he will be sadly missed not only by his family but by everyone that was fortunate to have known him. Huge and widely representative congregations turned out to pay their last respects at the wake at his home in Kilflynn and again at the removal of his remains from his residence to St. Mary’s church in Kilflynn on Wednesday evening. There was a large congregation at the Requiem Mass on Thursday morning where the chief celebrant was Fr. Jack Fitzgerald assisted by Fr Joseph Nolan, Fr. Pat O’Donnell and Br. Michael Neenan In his inspiring homily, Fr Jack captured many of the quintessential qualities that endeared Paddy to so many people and made him such a popular favourite in the Kilflynn community over the years. He said Paddy loved meeting people, always had a smile and a good handshake for anyone he met, meeting Paddy would make you forget worries and brighten up your day.
One of Paddy’s great saying was All Blessings, which he would say when anyone was leaving the house.
Paddy’s friends formed a guard on Wednesday evening in Kilflynn village as his remains were brought to the Church, which was led by vintage tractors. A large crowd accompanied the cortege for the internment which took place to St. Mary's Cemetery, and Paddy’s relatives, friends and neighbours, who between them carried the coffin from the church to Cemetery After the conclusion of prayers at the graveside local man, Sonny Egan, sang and played a musical tribute on the accordion.
Deepest sympathy is extended to his brothers John and Joe, sister Eileen, sisters-in-law Eileen and Bridie, nephews Liam, Robert, Diarmuid and Raymond nieces Geraldine and Helena, grandnephews, Gavin and Conor grand-niece, Hazel relatives and a large circle of friends. May he Rest in peace.
