On Wednesday night 18th February in Abbeydorney Arts Centre. And in St. James Church. Dingle on Friday night 18th February. All proceeds from the performances, which begin at 8.00 p.m, will go to M.S Ireland
Written in 1879, this seminal work by Ibsen blew apart the self-obsessed Victorian hypocrisies of integrity, morality, prestige and status.
Ibsen looked at middle class society and wrote about the problems that occurred behind closed doors, the difficulties in relationships which weren’t supposed to be mentioned in public.
A Doll’s House looks at the marriage of Nora, a supposedly loving wife and wonderful mother, and Torvald, who has landed a decent job, finally giving the family financial security. But as characters from the past enter their cheerful home, cracks gradually appear in the couple’s relationship and an intense struggle develops between love and truth, honour and betrayal, and finally between old-fashioned husband and a disobedient wife.

BOTTLE BANK

The writer of these notes received several phonecalls from residents this week, detailing the heaps of empty bottles, cans and domestic refuse that were being dumped at the bottle bank, in Kilflynn village. Its not a dump. This is an ongoing problem. Despite the best efforts of the council, people are leaving refuse, litter and waste alongside the recycling facility.
Most people are using the recycling facility for the purpose that it was intended for, but a small number of people are leaving refuse and waste beside the bottle bank and allowing that to build up and become a health hazard. Given that the bottle bank is located across from St. Mary’s Church. When the bottle bank is full you have to find another one or wait until it is empty. Please keep the bottle bank tidy. Take away your empty boxes and bags.
