KILFLYNN ST.PATRICKS DAY MEETING
The Kilflynn St. Patrick's Day Parade
Meeting takes place on Monday 29th February at 8.00 p.m in St. Columbas Centre, Kilflynn. Everyone welcome.

UNDER 11 AND 12 HURLERS
Crotta u11and u12 teams (last years u10 and u11 teams) returned to indoor training on Friday 5th February in St. Senans Hall, Mountcoal. Training will continue on Friday nights from 6pm to 7pm. 2 Euro per Child to pay for the hall.

ST. MARY'S CHURCH NEWS
On Wednesday 24th February, Mass will be celebrated at 10.00a.m and on Saturday 27th February mass be celebrated at 7.00 p.m for
Elizabeth Hannafin, Leith East and Sunday morning, 28th February, Mass will be celebrated at 9.30 a.m. for Francis Cashell, Clounafineela , Kilflynn. The Kilflynn Altar Society for February are Mary Moloney and Norah Brady.

EASTER RETREAT
The Easter Retreat for the ladies of Abbeydorney/Kilflynn parish will be held in The Ardfert Retreat Centre on Thursday 10th March at 8.00 p.m. All welcome.

CROTTA COISTE NA NOG AGM
The Crotta Coiste Na Nog Hurling Club Annual General Meeting was held before a nice sizeable crowd in the Clubrooms, dromakee, Kilflynn on Saturday 20th February.
The chairman, Sonny Egan, presided over the meeting. Club Secretary, Shane Herbert, gave an account of the clubs activities both on and off the field during the year. Club Treasurer, John Mahony, presented a comprehensive report of the clubs finances.The following officers were elected to serve the club for the 2016 season: Chairman: Sonny Egan, Vice Chairman: Paul Shanahan, Secretary: Noel McGrath, Registrar: Paul O'Donoghue, Treasurer: John Mahony, P.R.O: Mike Parker, County Board Delegate/ North Kerry Hurling Board Delegate: Sonny Egan. Scor Officer: Anne Mahony and Child Welfare officer: Anne Maire McGrath.
The club wish to thank Shane Herbert (Secretary) and Kathleen Quinlan (Child Welfare officer) who did not seek re-election for all their work for the club over the years.

CROTTA COISTE NA NOG AWARDS NIGHT
The Crotta Hurling Coiste na nÓg club awards night will be held on Saturday 12th March at 7.00pm in St. Columbus Centre, Kilflynn.
Eight time All-Ireland winner, and two time All Star, The Kilkenny Hurling legend Richie Power, will present the victories Crotta U10/12/13/16 panels with their Medals. All welcome to attend.

Many thanks to all who donated to the Crotta Coiste Na Nog Church gate collection at Masses in St . Mary’s Church, Kilflynn on Saturday 20th and Saturday 21st February. Thanks also to those who helped to take up the collection.

The winners of the weekly doubles darts tournament in Parker's Lounge bar, Kilflynn on Saturday night 20th February were Conor Leahy and Greg Leahy who defeated Declan Falvey and Tim O'Halloran in the final. The next tournament will take place in Parker's on Saturday 27th February. Names in for 10.30pm.
The Tuborg and District Darts league results Week 4, Parker's B team had a 5- 2 over The Drew drop , Lixnaw at home on Saturday 20th February. and Parker's Pub A team also had a 5-2 victory over
The New kingdom Bar, Listowel on Friday night 19th February in The New Kingdom. Parker's Pub Dart A & B teams are at home to O'Connors Bar, Ballyduff and Boland's Bar,Castlegregory, on Friday night 26th February in The Tuborg Tralee and District Darts league at 9.00p.m

ST.VINCENT DE PAUL
As and from this week there is a basket at the main entrance of both churches in the parish by kind permission. This basket has empty bags for clothes for your convenience to fill and drop off at the shop in Tralee. If you are not a regular church goer feel free to drop off and take one or two as every little helps and these clothes turn into money and when sold and revert back to us again.
The next church gate collection in the parish is on the weekend of March 5th and the 6th. We thank you in anticipation for your ongoing support in so so many ways.

KERRY SENIOR HURLERS
Well done to the Kerry Hurlers who played well against Limerick in the Allianz Hurling League Div 1B round 2
on Sunday 21st February at Fitzgerald Stadium, Killarney, great performance in the 2nd half by the home side. Limerick 1-19 to Kerry 1-15. The Crotta Hurling Club was represented by Sean Weir, Shane Nolan and Jordan Conway.
Kerry play Wexford in the next round on Sunday 6th March at Austin Stack's Park, Tralee.

RAMBLING HOUSE
Listowel Rambling House will take place in the Seanchaí Centre,Listowel on Thursday February 25th from 9.15 pm. Admission is free to this informal evening of traditional music, song, dance & storytelling.

GRANDPARENTS DAY
On February 3rd last, the grandparents of the pupils attending Scoil Treasa Naofa, Kilflynn were invited to the church to mark Grandparents' Day.
Fr. Denis O'Mahony celebrated mass which was then followed by the blessing the throats, distribution of St. Brigid's Crosses "agus cupán tae nó caife."
Míle buíochas to Fr. Denis for providing an alternative site for this important gathering as the school hall was too small this year - half of it is currently partitioned off to create a temporary additional classroom.
An-bhuíochas freisin to Tina O'Connell for preparing the choir and readers, Laura Horgan for organising the making of some 200 St. Brigid's Crosses by the pupils, the parents and grandparents who collected rushes and the ladies who prepared and served the refreshments and food.
We wish all our grandparents the best of health and happiness in 2016 and assure them that we highly value the irreplaceable positive influence they can have in the lives of their grandchildren.

The Tuborg and District Darts league results Week 2, Parker's Pub Dart teams hosted McElligott, Ardfert and The Railway Bar, Lixnaw on Friday night 5th February, and had mixed luck with The B team losing to Lixnaw boys 4-3 and victory for the A team over the Ardfert lads by 4-3. The A team have a bye this Friday night, with the B team playing The Huddle C, Tralee at home at 9.30p.m.

KERRY SENIOR HURLERS
The long awaited Allianz Hurling League Division 1B series for the Kerry senior hurlers gets underway on this Sunday, 14th February with an away game against Laois. Venue is O’Moore Park, Portlaoise where there will be a 2.00p.m. throw in. There is a lot of interest in the league and it is expected that there will be good Kerry support there. Admission tickets on the day cost €15 but they are available at a reduced price of €10 if purchased online on www.gaa.ie or at participating Centra or Supervalu stores around the county up to midnight on Saturday.
Kerry’s first home game, round 2 v Limerick on Sunday week, 21st February will now be played at Fitzgerald Stadium, Killarney, 2.00p.m.
Best of luck to the Crotta players Sean Weir, Shane Nolan and Jordan Conway and their Kerry team mates and their management.

ACTIVE RETIRED GROUP
A social afternoon for the Abbeydorney / Kilflynn Active Retired group will be held in Abbeydorney Community Hall on Wednesday 3rd February at 1.00 p.m. A meal will be served, followed by entertainment. If transport is needed, phone 0667135831

COMMUNITY ALERT
The Abbeydorney/Kilflynn Community Alert Group group will hold an open meeting on Tuesday 9th February at 8pm in Shannow Family Resource Centre,Abbeydorney. The aim of this meeting is to try and get more people involved as the group are looking at setting up a text alert system but at the moment the numbers are too low. The group are also looking for new members to help insure that Community Alert keeps going in the area.

KERRY HURLING ALL STAR
The Kerry Hurling All Stars Awards night is on this coming Saturday, February 6th in The Abbey Tavern, Ardfert, with a pre-awards reception at 7.30pm. Special guest is Sean Kelly MEP while Andrew Morrissey of Radio Kerry – a huge hurling enthusiast – will also speak on the night. Best of Luck to the Crotta Nominees : Tom Cronin, Sean Weir, Shane Nolan and Jordan Conway.

SHANNOW BROWNIES
Transition Year students at Presentation Tralee are raising awareness of the dangers of Japanese Knotweed. They have run a poster competition to get children involved. Kelly Tobin from TY, a former Shannow Brownie, and now doing her Community placement with us, told the Brownies all about it. They were so enthusiastic and produced some fabulous posters. These were on display at the Library, Tralee recently.
The Shannow Brownies also displayed their posters at St. Columbus Centre, Kilflynn on Thursday night 21st January.
Well done everyone.

The Tuborg and District Darts league games in group A & Groups were called off on Friday night 29th January. The
Group C games went ahead on Friday night, Parker's b team were defeated by Keane's Bar,Causeway by 4-3. It's was
great to see Keane's bar darts team making their first appearance in a darts competition. Wishing all participating teams and supporters the best of luck in the league.
In the Tuborg Tralee and District Darts league week 2, Parker's Pub Darts team are home to McElligott's Bar, Ardfert and Railway Bar, Lixnaw on Friday night 5th February.
