CONFIRMATION
Bishop Ray Browne will administer the Sacrament of Confirmation to the Children of the Parish on Thursday 27th February at 11.00am In St. Bernard’s Church, Abbeydorney. Twenty nine children from
St.Teresa’s National School, Kilflynn will  receive  the Sacrament.
We ask you to remember the children and their families in your prayers at this important time in their lives.

HEALTH PROMOTION FLAG FOR KILFLYNN N.S
On Monday 3 rd February St.Teresa’s National School, Kilflynn  was celebrating a joyous occasion. The school was awarded their Health Promotion flag, highlighting their success at improving, encouraging and maintaining a high standard of physical activity, healthy eating and emotional wellbeing of its pupils.
The flag was awarded by Michelle Foley, Health promotion officer HSE and she was blown away by the initiatives introduced by the Health promotion Officers Tina O’Connell and Sinéad Hogan and all staff. The positive and friendly atmosphere in the school was reflective of the huge commitment of the children to their own Health Promotion.
The first thing the school focused on when they began working towards the flag was Healthy Eating. They updated their Healthy Eating policy; they participated in food dudes and together made a massive effort to improve children’s lunchboxes for the better.
But Health Promotion is not just about Healthy Eating. It also incorporates physical wellbeing. To improve children’s level of physical activity they have engaged in The Daily Mile, Walk a mile with a smile, the Walking Club and several fancy-dress walks. Furthermore, they have explored other ways to be physically active such as Zumba, Irish dancing and swimming as well as team sports such as hurling, football, indoor soccer and basketball.
Another very important aspect of Health Promotion is having a healthy mind.
The Health Promotion Team have worked closely with the Amber Flag team in the school to ensure that all children in our school are looking after their wellbeing. To achieve this, we have introduced Happiness homework, Feel Good Friday, the Buddy Benches and Yard Buddies.
The Health Promotion team invited Kerry Camogie Captain Niamh Leen to raise their flag. She spoke with passion to the children as she encouraged all children “to find something they love doing and keep going”. Health Promotion Officers Tina O’Connell and Sinéad Hogan would like to express their gratitude to the pupils, staff and families of St. Teresa’s National School for their continued support, cooperation and enthusiasm with all initiatives.

Grandparents' Day 2020: Sowing the Seeds of Love
On Wednesday 29th January 2020 gave St. Teresa’s National school in Kilflynn, an opportunity to celebrate Grandparent’s Day. Grandparents play an integral role in children’s lives, offering support and love unconditionally. It is for this reason that they deserve a day of celebration.
Grandparents were invited to a mass in St. Mary’s Church, Kilflynn where our pupils read, played and sang beautifully. Following mass, an invitation was extended to all present in the church to visit the school for refreshments. A large gathering of parents and grandparents were entertained by the school’s fantastic musicians, each class prepared a piece to recite, sing or play for their grandparents and they enjoyed a tour of the school and its facilities. Children were very excited to show off their school and classrooms to their grandparents.
Grandparents received a gift of seeds to symbolise ‘A grandparents love that is strong and deep, filled with memories to cherish and keep’. We hope that they will spend some quality time together planting these seeds and make some new special memories. We remembered all our Grandparents who are no longer with us and these seeds can also be planted in their memory.
School principal Nora Falvey would like to thank the school’s Parents’ Association for all their help on the day and hopes that all the grandparents enjoyed their day and hopes to see them all again next year.
