TABLE QUIZ RAISES OVER 4,000
On Thursday 28th December large numbers from Kilflynn and the surrounding parishes converged on Herbert’s and Parker’s pubs to again support the annual table quiz in aid of three local cancer charities. A total of forty-six tables competed and just over €4000 was raised on the night. This money will be distributed between Recovery Haven, Kerry Hospice and Kerry Cancer Support. On the night Marion Barnes and Breda Dyland of Recovery Haven and Kerry Cancer Support, respectively, thanked the organisers and competitors for their continued support. Breda highlighted that her charity would put the money towards funding a new bus service, which would take patients from north Kerry to University Hospital Limerick for treatment. The quizmaster, John Flaherty, thanked the pubs for hosting the event, John McElligott for organising the sound system, all those who helped organise the quiz and those who supported the event with their presence on the night. Daragh and Conor Breen played the songs for the music questions and entertained the crowd throughout. The standard of answering was very high and the quiz was closely contested. The eventual winners, on a very creditable seventy-eight points out of eighty, were Paudi Curtin, John O’Donoghue, Grace Kennedy, Stephen Behan, Colm Horgan and Loreto Weir. In second place, just a point behind, were Bridget, Thomas, Patrick and Margaret Quille.
A large proportion of the money raised on the night came from the various auctions and raffles. Amongst the items auctioned were two butchered lambs sponsored by Mick Brady. The organisers would like to thank Mick, James Kelleher, Casey Stephenson Accountants, Christine Hickey of All Seasons Florists, Recovery Haven Dillane’s Off Licence, Jerome McCarthy, the Kerry GAA Store,Ger McCarthy, Atlantic Oils, TJ O’Sullivan and Bella Bia for donating items for the auction. Thanks to all those who bid for and bought items on the night. Thank you to all those individuals who donated spot prizes for the raffles.
Our thanks to Quiz Master and question setter John O‚Flaherty for providing us with a challenging and entertaining quiz. Once again John played a blinder . The quiz night again exceeded all expectations and all those involved are looking forward to the next edition during Christmas 2018.

KERRY HURLERS
The Kerry Senior hurlers were away to Clare in the first round of the Munster Hurling League on Saturday December 30th December in LIT.
Kerry, missing a number of players the scoreline of 4-15 to 0-12 doesn’t reflect fairly on Kerry’s overall performance. Kerry are away to Limerick next weekend with their final game in the competition at home to Cork. Following that game Kerry prepare for their main event which is the Allianz NHL where they travel to London to play London on January 28th for their opening game. The Crotta Hurling was represented on the Kerry team by Sean Weir, Shane Nolan and Jordan Conway. Adam O’Sullivan was a member of the panel as the sub GoalKeeper
