KILFLYNN CANCER SUPPORT GROUP ANNUAL TABLE QUIZ
The sixteenth annual Kilflynn Cancer Support Group table quiz, held on Saturday 28th December, was again a huge success with forty-six tables competing. €4200 was raised, which will be distributed between the benefiting charities, Recovery Haven, Kerry Hospice and Kerry Cancer Support, over the coming weeks. On the night Marion Barnes, Recovery Haven, and Breda Dyland, Kerry Cancer Support, thanked the organisers and competitors for their wonderful effort and continued support. The standard of answering was very high and the quiz was closely contested. The eventual winners, on a very creditable seventy-nine points out of eighty, were Mike, Bobs, PJ and Maura Barry, Gerald Byrnes and Cyril Deenihan. In second place were the Nicholson/Conway family. The organisers would like to thank Parker’s Pub and Herbert’s Bar, for hosting the event, and John McElligott for organising the sound system. Thanks again to Conor and Daragh Breen, who organised the music questions and entertained the crowd throughout. Thanks to Jack Brady for organising the answer sheets, and to Margaret and John Mahony and Caroline and Frank Lynch for their administrative skills. Thanks to Mike Neenan and all the others who helped out on the night. A large proportion of the amount raised came from the various auctions and raffles. Amongst the items auctioned were two butchered lambs sponsored by Mick Brady. Thanks also to T J O’Sullivan, Gerry Moloney, Mike Murphy, Woodies, and the numerous businesses and individuals who donated items for raffles and prizes. However, the quiz could not have been such a success with the continued support of the people of Kilflynn, Abbeydorney and surrounding parishes, who turned up on the night and gave so generously. Your contribution is greatly appreciated.  The quiz night again exceeded all expectations and all those involved are already looking forward to Christmas 2020!
