KILFLYNN GIRL TO REPRESENT IRELAND IN BOXING
Congratulations to Niamh Ball of the Trojan Boxing Club who has been selected to represent Ireland at the Womens European Union Senior, Youth & Junior Championships which is to be held in Keszthely, Hungary on Monday 1st July. Niamh from Kilflynn has the added distinction of being the first Kerry female to be selected for the Irish Team and will be competing in the 57kg Youth section of the 27 strong squad which will be flying out from Dublin on Sunday. It will be held at the Helikon Sport & Conference Hotel by the shores of Lake Balaton. Good luck Niamh from all at Trojan Boxing Club, and from all Kilflynn area.

KINGDOM HOTROD CLUB
There will be Hotrod racing on the Kilflynn raceway on Sunday next 30th June at 12:30pm. Next Sunday will be our annual cup day with one full round of racing being run for a number of cups and shields. We will also be running "The Hotrod Experience", where anyone over the age of 14 can arrive and drive a fully built Hotrod car around the Kilflynn circuit for €40 ( some terms and conditions will apply).

GOLF
Lixnaw Golf Society headed to Castleisland Golf Club last Saturday,the course provided a tough test along with the windy conditions.Shane Kelliher came out on top with a score of 35pts,2nd place went to M.Fahy on 33pts,3rd place went to J.Carroll on 31pts,4th place went to B.Keane on 30pts.The front 9 was won by T.Lynch on 17pts and the back 9 was won by J.Mc Auliffe.Thanks to everyone who made the trip,the next outing will be on the 13th of July at Newcastlewest Golf Club.

SYMPATHIES
The death took place in San Francisco recently of Maurice Flaherty, San Francisco and late of Fahavane, Kilflynn. His remains were brought back home, and were removed from Stack's Funeral Home Lixnaw on Sunday evening 9th June to St. Mary's Church, Kilflynn with burial in St. Mary's Cemetery on Monday after mass celebrated by Fr. Denis O'Mahony and Fr. Joe Nolan. We offer our sincere sympathies to his brother John, Abbeydorney, Sister Bebe (Bridget) Tralee, Sisters in law, Eileen and Lulu, Nephews and Nieces, relatives and friends May he rest in peace. CHRISTY RING CUP FINAL
Commiserations to the Kerry Senior Hurling team on their dramatic defeat in the final of the Christy Ring Cup at Croke Park on Saturday 8th June on the final score line of 3-16 to 2-17. A dramatic injury time goal from Gareth Johnson helped Down to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat in a pulsating Christy Ring Cup final. Kerry were ahead at half time 2-06 to 1-08. The Crotta and the Kilflynn areas was well represented at the Final. The Crotta hurling club was represented on the team by Shane Nolan at Conner forward scoring (1-9, 0-5f) . The Lynch Twins, Mike and Cyril were also members of the Kerry panel. Shane Nolan Created a bit of History at Croke Park in the Christy Ring Cup Final when he became the first hurler to have a point awarded on a Hawk-Eye call. Well Done Shane.

KILFLYNN CONGREGATION AND CHOIR FEATURED ON TELEVISED MASS ON R.T.E
Heartiest Congratulations and well done the Members of The Kilflynn Church Choir, Musicians and The Congregation from St Mary’s Church in Kilflynn, when there represented the area and the County on Sunday morning 16th June and brought a polished and beautifully performed mass celebrated by Kilflynn native Fr William King, to the people of Ireland, from Studio 4 in RTE Studios in Donnybrook.
Kilflynn should be proud of what ye achieved on Sunday, Standing up in front of 80,000 people you owned RTE 1 and showed the beauty and spirit of the village to the nation.
The reaction to the broadcast was extremely positive and the head of religious affairs at RTE, Roger Childs , was delighted with how the programme looked and sounded, and applauded the effort and content.
I know that a number of former residents who are now living in various parts of the world tuned in to watch the Mass live. Well done also to all the Readers, Eucharistic minister and anyone else who helped out in any way. More info and photo will appear in next week’s notes

COMMUNITY GAMES
The county athletic finals will be held this coming Saturday and Sunday, the 22nd and 23rd of June, in the Riocht athletic track, Castleisland. The programme of events will begin on Saturday, with the parade at 10.00a.m. followed immediately with the heats of the 200m. All the heats of the other competitions will follow on, concluding with the heats of the relays in the evening. Sunday's programme begins at 10.30a.m. with relay semi-finals. Abbeydorney/Kilflynn area number this year is 7. All competitors have to wear their area number when competing.
U8 events take place on grass with all other events on the track. Athletes are advised to wear footwear when running on the track as it is quite difficult and dangerous to run barefoot on it. We would like to wish all Abbeydorney/Kilflynn athletes the best of luck and we hope that they leave Castleisland with lots of happy memories and some new found friends.

VINTAGE TRACTOR RUN
Kilflynn Vintage Club Tractor Run will take place on Sunday 16th June, at 12.30 p.m. in Kilflynn Village. Registration fee only 10 euro. Complimentary food and live music on return. Follow the crowd and come to Kilflynn on this Sunday.

WELLINGTON THROWING COMPETITIONS
Ladies and Gents Wellington Throwing competitions which taking place in Kilflynn village, on Saturday 15th June at 8.00 p.m. with trophies for the first, second and third in both Ladies and Gents categories. Competitors are required to hurl a Wellington Boot as far as possible within boundary lines, from a standing or running start. So get the Wellies out and start practising!

KILFLYNN CHOIR FOR R.T.E MASS
Members of The Kilflynn Church Choir will participate in one of their most important engagements to date, next weekend when they sing at a mass to be televised live from the RTE Studios in Donnybrook. The mass, which will be celebrated by Fr William King, goes out live this Sunday morning, June 16th , at 11.00 am on RTE 1. It will also be available on the internet for those with relatives living abroad who would like to see it. An RTÉ camera crew paid a visit to Kilflynn, last Thursday evening and Friday morning to film footage of the choir practicing in St. Mary’s Church , the picturesque
Tobar Flainn holy well, the sports field in Dromakee, where Crotta U-14s played Tralee Parnells Hurling Club, in the County Div1 Semi Final, they also filmed the junior and Senior infants at St Teresa's National School and the village. There was a great buzz about the area when the camera crew arrived, and this excitement will be doubled Sunday morning when they will tuned on Sunday morning to watch the production.

SONNY WINS LOCAL HERO AWARD
Heartiest Congratulations goes to Crotta Coiste Na Nog Chairman Sonny Egan, Garrynagore, who was the very deserving winner of Kerry's Eye/ Radio Kerry Local Hero Awards May Winner 2013.
Crotta Stalwart Sonny Egan has been chosen for his 30 years of dedication to Crotta Hurling Club, and also for his involvement in numerous other local initiatives. Crotta Secretary Annette Nolan nominated Sonny. She explains there’s nothing he wouldn’t do for Crotta hurling club!

CHRISTY RING CUP FINAL

KILFLYNN CHOIR FOR R.T.E MASS
Members of The Kilflynn Church Choir will participate in one of their most important engagements to date, next weekend when they sing at a mass to be televised live from the RTE Studios in Donnybrook. The mass, which will be celebrated by Fr William King, goes out live this Sunday morning, June 16th , at 11.00 am on RTE 1. It will also be available on the internet for those with relatives living abroad who would like to see it.

CROTTA COISTE NA NOG CLUB NEWS
North Kerry U-11 Championship 4th round, Crotta defeated a gallant Lixnaw side at Lixnaw on Friday evening 31st May. Crotta will play Ardfert in the 5th and final round on Friday 7th June at 6:30 p.m. in the sports field Dromakee, Kilflynn. On Saturday 1st June, Crotta Under 15 hurlers participated in the Munster Under 15 Super touch Hurling Blitz in Ballincollig, Cork and had a great day out.

SYMPATHIES
The death has occurred of Joe Fuller, Viewmount Park, Waterford City, Waterford and late of Fahavane, Kilflynn (unexpectedly) at Cork University Hospital, on Sunday 26th May. On behalf of the Community we offer our Sincere Sympathies to his wife Koragh, son Stephen, daughters Natalie and Giollaíosa, brothers Paudie, Pascal and Noel, son-in-law Juan, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, extended family, friends, relatives and friends. The death occurred of Peter Levy (Toureen Terrace, Passage West and late of Fahavane, Kilflynn, and London): On Friday 28th May, peacefully, in the presence of his family at The Bon Secours Hospital, Cork. Peter’s remains were reposed at the Temple Hill Funeral Home, Boreenmanna Road, of Jerh. O’Connor Ltd. on Thursday evening. After required mass celebrated by Fr. William King and Fr. Denis O’Mahony, in St. Mary’s Church, Kilflynn, Peter was laid to rest in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Kilflynn on Friday 31st May. .
