KILFLYNN IS ALL SET FOR THE FAIRY FESTIVAL 2018
The fairies are currently setting up home along the fabulous fairy trail in Kilflynn Village in anticipation of the 2018 Kilflynn Enchanted Fairy Festival.
This year sees a huge array of knights, wizard potions and fairy trails all with a sprinkle of magical fairy dust along the way!
There will be lots of interactive events for children of all ages with craft and science workshops, archery, face-painting, hula hoop workshops, sand play and dancing.
The stage will feature some great musical acts throughout the weekend.
Saturday evening opens with a parade at 7pm consisting of street entertainers, the wonderful Kilflynn fairies and many magical characters including knights and wizards. Entertainment to follow in the village afterwards.
Sunday hosts the main event from 11am to 5pm. The Fairy Trail allows visitors take part in creative workshops and play in the meadow which is full of entertainers, characters, story tellers, music and surprises around every corner. The whole village comes alive to celebrate family life, dreams and memories.
Picnic areas are available in the Meadow and along the fairy trail. There will also be local food and craft fairs throughout the day catering for all taste buds.
To add to the magic, the Kilflynn Fairy Committee are urging all the boys and girls to dress up for the occasion, for what promises to be an amazing weekend! Follow the crowd and come on to Kilflynn this weekend.

MUNSTER POC FADA
Well done to Crotta player Tadgh McKenna who represented Kerry at The Munster Gaa U-16 Poc Fada Competition at Burrren on Saturday 16th June. Tadgh was 4th he acquitted himself very well. Congrats also to Lixnaw GAA Club HurlerMartin Rickie Fowler Stackpoole who was 3rd in the Senior Competition.

KILFLYNN CEMETERY MASS
The Cemetery Mass will be celebrated for the departed in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Kilflynn on Wednesday, 4th July at 8.00 pm. Please notify friends and relatives of those buried in the Cemetery.

CROTTA COISTE NA NOG FAIRY FESTIVAL TEA/COFFEE AND BAKE SALE
We would appreciate your contribution to help feed the fairies in Kilflynn this weekend. 
This is our main fundraiser and we are asking everyone to put on their magical aprons and bake or contribute any of the following: buns, cookies, brownies, rice krispie squares, Rocky road, fruit/mederia cake, all cakes (but no jam or cream or apples pies please)
Due to large crowds and demand for our baked goods we fell short last year early in the day and we want to stay going all day this year so we are asking everyone to make an extra effort

Crotta Senior hurlers had a 1-15 to 1-9 victory over a gallant Ballyheigue side in the Garveys Supervalu Senior Championship 1st round game at Austin Stacks Park, Tralee on Sunday 17th June. Crotta meet Current County Champions Ballyduff in the next round on Saturday evening in Austin Stacks Park Tralee at 7.15p.m. best of luck to the Crotta players and their mentors.

The Crotta Hurling Club would like to sincerely thank Kilflynn Vintage Club for allowing us to have our bake sale, and bouncy castle at their successful event on .Sunday 17th June Thanks also to all the parents for providing the beautifully baked goods and helping out at the stall today. Thanks to those who stewarded the bouncy castle and insured the kids were safe. All proceeds raised will be reinvested in our youths.

St. Treasa's National Kilflynn 
Sports day was catoncelled due to the weather on Wednesday 13th June. The Sports Day is rescheduled for Friday 22nd June in the sportsfield, Crotta - weather permitting.

UNWANTED CLOTHES
The Annual Crotta clothes collection is scheduled for 21st June from 12 noon. Anyone who wishes to clean out their wardrobes and closets of their old unused clothes they can clean them out and drop them to the Clothes Bank down in the Sportsfield down in Dromakee or contact any club officer and they can be collected in your house. The quality of the clothes does not matter it is just weight that the club will get funded for. So rags or anything will do. Its a great initiative as people can clean clutter out of their houses while helping the club in the process. If ye want to avail of this service we would be very great full. Thanks

CELTIC CHALLENGE CUP
Kerry’s U-17 Hurlers interest in this years Celtic Challenge Under 17 hurling Division 1 quarter final  came to an end on Monday, 18th June at Aghabullogue [near Coachford, Co. Cork when they were defeated by Cork East by 4-23 to 3-8. The Half Time score was Cork East 2-8 to Kerry 2-3
The Crotta Hurling Club was represented on the Kerry team by Declan O’Donoghue who Captained the side also Ryan McElligott. James Sheehan and Aodhan McKenna  were unavailable due to holidays.

Golden Jubilee Celebration of the Dedication of St. Bernard’s Church will take place on Friday June 22nd with Bishop Ray Browne con-celebrating mass at 7.30 p.m. All are welcome.
Commemorative Book will be on sale on the night. Refreshments afterwards. (Anyone who would like to make a cake or buns can hand them in to the Parish Office on Friday morning (office hours) or between 6.30 – 7.00 p.m. on Friday evening.)

Papal Mass in the Phoenix Park – Sunday 26th August.  
A bus will be running from our Pastoral Area to Dublin for the Papal Mass.  Cost approx €30 per person, leaving Ardfert approx 5.30 a.m.  If you wish to travel please call to the Parish Office with a deposit of €10 to secure your place.  Places on a first come, first served basis.  We can register online as a block booking for tickets for the Mass so there will no need to register individually.  If your name is already on the list please call in to pay the deposit.

WELLINGTON THROWING COMPETITIONS
The annual Ladies and Gents Wellington Throwing competitions took place in Kilflynn village, on Friday 15th June, with 30 competitors taking part , and a large crowd gathered to watch the fun event. Ladies: 1st Prize went to Claire O’Sullivan, Knocknagoshel, 2nd Prize Trisha Putman, Ballyconnell, Kilflynn  and 3rd Prize : Brenda Brennan,  Rae, Kilflynn 
 Gents: 1st Prize went to Clive Putman, Ballyconnell,  Kilflynn, 2nd Prize: Mike Power ,Gortclohy, Kilflynn and 3rd Prize: Michael O’Sullivan, Knocknagoshel. 
All the kids who participated  received medals. Hazel Parker on behalf of the sponsors Parkers Pub presented the trophies to the prize winners. Congrats to all prize winners and the organizers would like to thank all the people who took part in both categories also to everyone who help out on the night.

JOE MC DONAGH CUP
The Kerry Senior hurlers completed their Joe McDonagh Cup campaign with a 2 - 21 to 1 - 20away win against Antrim last Saturday 9th June. This game also signalled the end of their competitive season for 2018. The Crotta Hurling club was well represented on the Kerry team by Sean Weir (Wing Back), Shane Nolan  (Wing Forward)Tomas O’Connor came on as sub in the 2nd half and scored a point and Jordan Conway also came on as a sub. Paudie Quille was also a member of the panel. Barry Mahony and Adam O’Sullivan were unavailable for selection. Well done to the Seven Crotta players whorepresented their club with pride and distinction at inter-county level in 2018

Kilflynn Vintage Weekend 2018
The annual Kilflynn Vintage Weekend takes place from June 16th-17th. After fantastic 21st Birthday celebrations last year, we are hoping the party atmosphere will continue in 2018.There is a fantastic weekend in store for young and old.  The weekend’s events kick off at 7pm on Saturday evening where the Vintage Tractor, Car and Motorbike Run will depart the village. On return their will be a barbeque in the village to kick of the weekend.
At 12 noon the official opening of the field will take place and the days events will get underway. There will be a wide variety of vintage displays including; cars, tractors, motorbikes, stationary engines, steam engines, threshers, forge and blacksmith demonstrations as well as much more.
Sunday is very much a family day out with entertainment for all ages provided. For the younger generations there will be amusements, bouncy castles, egg painting competition, novelty games, as well as the unforgettable ‘Magic Puppet Show @ 2pm! For the adults there will be live music and entertainment throughout the day, as well as some great displays of machinery from by-gone-days.
The Kilflynn Vintage Club greatly appreciates the support that the local community and surrounding areas give us each year. It is because of this support that the club has thrived over the last 22 years. With the help of your support the club has raised funds for numerous different charities and local groups. We hope to see you all in Kilflynn from June 16th-17th for what should be a fantastic weekend of celebrations!

CROTTA U-10 HURLERS
Congratulations to the Crotta U10 Hurlers who took part in the North Kerry blitz held on Saturday 9th June in beautiful sunshine in Tom Healy Park Abbeydorney. The team had hard fought wins over Ardfert, Tralee Parnells and Kilmoyley and won their group. This is a fantastic achievement for the young hurlers. Thanks to all players, parents, mentors and of courses Abbeydorney GAA who were excellent host as usual.

WEDDING BELLS
Heartiest congratulations and best wishes goes to Grainne Twomey, daughter of Catherine and Brendan Twomey, Crotta Cross, Lixnaw and David Bennett son of Mary and Francis Bennett, Ballybunion who were married in St. Mary’s Church, Kilflynn on Friday 8th June. The beautiful ceremony was performed by Fr. Denis O’Mahony, Abbeydorney P.P. The Best man was Declan Bennett and Groomsmen were Francis Bennett and Jon Egan, The Bridesmaids were Socha Tuomey, Gillian Twomey and Catherine Collins. The Page boy was: Francis Bennett Jnr
and Flower Girl was Louisa Twomey. The wedding reception was held in
 Great Southern Hotel, Killarney A great day and night, was had by all in attendance.
The happy  couple and their guests were blessed by beautiful weather for their special day. We wish Grainne and David many happy years of married life together.

CAUSEWAY CAMOGIE NOTES 
Camogie training for U8 & U10 girls takes place every Friday from 6 to 7 pm in the astro turf Causeway.  Training for U12 & U13 girls takes place every Monday & Thursday in the sports-field Causeway. Girls from all parishes are always very welcome to come along and give it a go.  Helmet & hurley will be provided.  This is a great way to get your child active & fit while also making new friends.  Cost €2

SENIOR HURLING CHAMPIONSHIP
The opening Round of the 2018 Garvey’s SuperValu Kerry County Senior Hurling Championship [Corn Neilus Ó Floinn] are fixed for this weekend. All games will be played at Austin Stack Park, Tralee, with extra time if necessary. On Saturday, 16 June Lixnaw meet Kilmoyley at 5.30p.m. while reigning champions, Ballyduff take on Abbeydorney at 7.15p.m. On Sunday, 17 June, Ballyheigue play Crotta at 2.00p.m. followed by St Brendan's v Causeway at 3.45p.m. Round 2 will be played on the weekend of 30 June / 1 July, Round 3 on the weekend of 29 July, the semi-finals on Saturday, 11 August and the final is scheduled for Sunday, 26 August.

Ladies and Gents Wellington Throwing competitions which taking place in Kilflynn village, on Friday 15th June at 8.00 p.m. with trophies for the first, second and third in both Ladies and Gents categories. Competitors are required to hurl a Wellington Boot as far as possible within boundary lines, from a standing or running start. So come to Kilflynn and compete for the craic.

FEILE NA GAEL 2018
Well done to the Kerry teams who participated in the national Féile na nGael Under 14 competitions last weekend. Ballyduff reached the semi-final of Division 2 where they lost out to Naas. Lixnaw got to the Division 5 Shield semi-final and South Kerry went as far as the Division 9 Cup semi-final. 
Congratulations to Causeway on winning the Division 5 camogie title. Fantastic achievement.

Comórtas Poc Fada Ciarraí
Martin Stackpoole of Lixnaw has retained the Kerry Long Puck competition which was held in perfect conditions
over a course on Kerryhead Mountain,Ballyheigue, on Monday 4th June
Runner up was Adam O’Sullivan of Crotta
The winner of the Under 16 Long Puck was Oisín Mausell of Abbeydorney with Tadhg McKenna of Crotta in second place.
The winners now go on to represent Kerry in the Munster Poc Fada Final to be held in the Burren, Co. Clare on Saturday, 16th June. Congrats to Martin and Oisín and all the best at the Munster Long Puck final lads, also Congrats and Well Done to Crotta Hurlers Adam and Tadgh who were runners up in their Categories.

Fairy Festival

Crotta Hurlers Tadgh McKenna and Adam O'Sullivan who participated in The
Comórtas Poc Fada Ciarraí over a course on Kerryhead Mountain,Ballyheigue, on Monday 4th June. Adam and Tadgh were runners up in the the U-16 and Senior Categories.

CAUSEWAY CAMOGIE NOTES
Camogie training for U8 & U10 girls takes place every Friday from 6 to 7 pm in the astro turf Causeway.  Training for U12 & U13 girls takes place every Monday & Thursday in the sports-field Causeway. Girls from all parishes are always very welcome to come along and give it a go.  Helmet & hurley will be provided.  This is a great way to get your child active & fit while also making new friends.  Cost €2

HURLING RESULTS
At the Sportsfield, Dromakee on Wednesday 30th May  in Div. 2 of the Cara Credit Union Kerry GAA Co. League, the homeside were defeated by St. Brendan’s Hurling Club, Ardfert by 1-21 to 1-16 .
North Kerry U11 League on Friday evening 1st June at the Sportsfield, dromakee, Kilflynn Crotta had a hard fought win over a spirited Causeway side on a Full Time score line Crotta 3-07 Causeway 0-01. Thanks to all players parents and officials

CROTTA LOTTO RESULTS
The numbers drawn out of the drum by the Independent observer:  Mary O'Meara , Knocknacaska, Kilflynn  on Monday 4th June  in Herbert’s Bar,   Kilflynn were 5,18,22 and 24. There was No winner of €6,100 Jackpot. The following won €35 in the lucky dip draw:  John Clifford, Abbeydorney, Deirdre Herbert, Castletown, Kilflynn and John Clifford, Abbeydorney.  The next draw will take place in Parker's Pub, ,Kilflynn on Monday 11th June with a €6,200 Jackpot. WELLINGTON THROWING COMPETITIONS
Ladies and Gents Wellington Throwing competitions which taking place in Kilflynn village, on Friday 15th June at 8.00 p.m. with trophies for the first, second and third in both Ladies and Gents categories. Competitors are required to hurl a Wellington Boot as far as possible within boundary lines, from a standing or running start. So come to Kilflynn and compete for the craic.

Well done St. Teresa’s National School pupil Megan Hickey, Knockbrack , Kilflynn who played with Kerry Allianz Cumann na Mbunscol Primary Game Football team at No 4 against Clare in the Munster Gaa Primary Go Games at half time in the Munster Senior Championship between Clare and Kerry y at Fitzgerald Stadium,Killarney on Sunday 3rd June. Megan plays her Football with Abbeydorney Ladies Football Club.

DART WINNERS
The winners of the darts in Parker's Lounge  Bar , Kilflynn on Saturday 2nd June were Paddy Weir  and Paud Twomey who defeated Declan Adrian McHugh  and Declan Falvey in the Final. The winners received a leg of lamb each. The next darts doubles tournament takes place on Saturday 9th June  at 10.30p.m in Parker's Lounge Bar. The winners will receive a leg of lamb each. All names in for 10.20p.m.
