Abbeydorney/Kilfynn Athletes were amazing  in Castleisland on Saturday and Sunday 22nd and 23rd June for the Athletics County Finals.
The passion and courage was outstanding and each member of our team should be very proud of themselves!!!
Great celebrations in Parkers bar in Kilflynn on Sunday afternoon where they had well deserved treats and refreshments!!
Thanks a million to all who supported our Athletes and Coaches and once again it shows what can happen when a Community pulls together well done everybody!!!!

Ógras Summer Camps will take place at Cumann Iosaef in Tralee from 15 to 19 July and at Ballyheigue Community Centre from 29 July to 2 August. This will give children aged 7 to 12 an opportunity to practise their Irish through sport, games, art and music and will also include a trip to the Gaeltacht. Crotta Senior hurlers were defeated by Kilmoyley in the County Hurling League Div 1 at a wet and windy Crotta sportsfield on Sunday morning 23rd June on final scoreline of Crotta 0-14 to 2-09. We wish a speedy recovery to Crotta player Darragh O’Donoghue who picked an injury during the game.

Well Done to Crotta Hurlers Sean Weir (Wing Back), Thomas O'Connor (Mid Field), Jordon Conway (Centre Forward) (0-02) and Adam O'Sullivan (Sub) who were part of the Kerry Senior Hurling Team that defeated Offaly on Saturday 15th June in the final round of the Joe McDonagh Cup at Austin Stacks Park, Tralee on the final score of Kerry 1-18 to Offaly 1-16
 Congratulations to Adohan Behan and the Kerry Minor Hurling team mates who defeated Waterford in the quarter-final of tahe Celtic Challenge Cup on a scoreline of Kerry 2-19 Waterford 3-12 in Bruff on Saturday 15th June. Also to Jerome O'Sullivan who is a selector with the Kerry side. They will play Cork City in the semi-final this coming weekend,

U-10 HURLERS
The Crotta  U10 hurlers took part in the North Kerry Hurling Board  blitz in Abbeydorney on Saturday 15th June . With a lot of players unavailable the boys and that girls played on Saturday  were fantastic,  all play  very well  with some good skill and honest effort on display. The gang had games against Causeway, Tralee Parnell, Abbeydorney and Lixnaw. Huge thanks to Mikey Leahy and Abbeydorney GAA for the well organized event

KILFLYNN VINTAGE RALLY WEEKEND
The annual Kilflynn Vintage Weekend takes place from 15th-16t June After a fantastic weekend last year, we are hoping it will continue in 2019.There is a fantastic weekend in store for young and old.  
The weekend’s events kick off at 7pm on Saturday evening where the Vintage Tractor, Car and Motorbike Run will depart the village. There will be a party atmosphere with live music at the crossroads by local musicians. On return there will be a barbeque in the village to kick of the weekend’s events.
At 12 noon on Sunday, the official opening of the field will take place and the days events will get underway. There will be a wide variety of vintage displays including; cars, tractors, motorbikes, stationary engines, steam engines, threshers, forge and blacksmith demonstrations, silage cutting, as well as much more.
Sunday is very much a family day out with entertainment for all ages provided. For the younger generations there will be amusements, bouncy castles, and novelty games! For the adults there will be live music and entertainment throughout the day, as well as some great displays of machinery from by-gone-days.
The Kilflynn Vintage Club greatly appreciates the support that the local community and surrounding areas give us each year. It is because of this support that the club has thrived over the last 23 years. With the help of your support the club has raised funds for numerous different charities and local groups. We hope to see you all in Kilflynn from June 15th-16th for what should be a fantastic weekend of celebrations!

Ladies and Gents Wellington Throwing competitions which taking place in Kilflynn village, on Friday 14th June at 8.00 p.m. with trophies for the first, second and third in both Ladies and Gents categories. Competitors are required to hurl a Wellington Boot as far as possible within boundary lines, from a standing or running start. So come to Kilflynn and compete for the craic.

FÉILE 2019
 Crotta  Hurling Club will welcome the players and mentors from Noamh Brid from Co Carlow , to the area this coming weekend for the National U14 Hurling Féile.
Preparations have been ongoing these past few weeks and we hope to give the young hurlers from Carlow a weekend they will remember for a long time to come.
This will be a wonderful, memorable experience for our young players. Abbeydorney will compete in Div. 6 along with Lixnaw, Clairemorris Mayo and our visitors Naomh Brid ( Carlow)
The opening game will take place on Friday afternoon 7th June at 5.30pm in The Sporsfield,Dromakee, Kilflynn when we will play Clairemorris Mayo. We then travel to Lixnaw for a 7.00pm throw-in against Lixnaw.
On Saturday morning at 10am, we play our visitors Naomh Brid ( Carlow) in the sportsfield, Dromakee, Kilflynn. Following the game both teams will head for Mourneabbey Mallow in Cork to compete in either the Shield or Cup quarter-finals.
Both teams will return to St. Columbas Centre, Kilflynn at 7.15 p.m  for an evening of entertainment where food and music will be provided for our players and families along with our visiting club.
The semi-finals are due to take place on Sunday morning at 12 noon in Ovens  in Cork, so hopefully we will be making that trip. We wish the boys and management the best of luck for the tournament. Please come and support them over the weekend.

PRAYER EVENING
A beautiful prayer ceremony, led by Fr O'Mahony and Rev Stevens, was held in St Columba's hall on Monday  evening 3rd June, to honour and remember all those buried in the cemetery there. Candles were lit at each grave, flowers were laid, and hymns were sung most beautifully by the choir. Thank you to Fr O'Mahony and Rev Stevens for a beautuful ceremony. Thanks also to St Columba's cemetery committee, St Columba's Community Centre committee, Kilflynn Choir, and all who attended and supported the ceremony.

Congratulations and well done to Ella Mahony, Dara Nolan, Ella Buckley and Roisín Quinn who represented St. Teresa's National School, Kilflynn in the Primary Schools county skills Hurling/Camogie competitions which was held in Kerry Gaa Centre of Excellence for Kerry in Currans on Friday 31st May. The girls won the team competition and Ella Buckley won best individual. Dara Nolan faced some tough competition in the individual boys but did himself and the school proud. Bryan Murphy Kerry Hurler presented the trophies  to the Primary Schools Skills competition winners.

DART WINNERS
The winners of the darts in Parker's Lounge Bar, Kilflynn on Saturday 1st June  were J.P Twomey and  Philip Morris who defeated  Michael Mccarthy and Padraig Fuller in the Final. The winners received a leg of lamb each. The next darts doubles tournament takes place on Saturday 8th June at 10.30p.m in Parker's Lounge Bar. The winners will receive a leg of lamb each. All names in for 10.20p.m.
