ALL IRELAND VICTORY FOR KERRY CAMOGIE TEAM
Feile na nGael: It all began on Friday morning when Kerry left Abbeydorney at 8am heading for Rathdowney, Co Laois where Kerry were hosted for the weekend. Kerry’s first game was against St Brigids at 2pm. This was a comfortable start for the girls winning this game 4-8 to 2-0. Megan Weir was the of the show with a hat-trick.
That evening Kerry attended the parade in Birr and then home early for the girls in preparation for the following day.
Kerry were on the road early and played their first game at 10am against The Harps of Laois. This was a very tough physical game but the girls played a blinder and won with a score of 1 4 to 1goal. The second game against Four Roads of Roscommon was a nicer game which demonstrated the lovely skills which the girls have acquired. Stalwart of the team Megan Weir scored 1-01, This game ended with a favourable score of 1-6 to 1-01 and placed Kerry into the semi finals. The semi finals were held in Ballyfin at 6pm where we met Myshall from Carlow. This was another very physical game however it ended with a very impressive score of 4- 01 to 3 points putting Kerry into the final the next morning. The final was held in Tullamore where Kerry met Kiltale from Meath. The girls played a defensive game with both sides very evenly matched. However Kerry managed to hold their lead throughout and when the final whistle blew we were ahead by one point with a score of 4 pts to 3 pts making Kerry ALL IRELAND WINNERS in Division 3.

Kerry host club St Brigid's went way beyond the call of duty in the reception we received. On Saturday night they presented Kerry with a lovely mirror as a souvenir of the occasion. Kerry were delighted to have a beautiful hand-crafted slate mirror shaped with the hurley which was made for us especially for the occasion by Dave Kissane to present to them in return.
All in all this was a most memorable weekend for everyone. Many thanks to all the parents and supporters that travelled. Paudie Kehoe gave holders and favourites Carlow a dream start with an early goal, but Brick responded with a penalty to give the visitors a 1-5 to 1-4 half-time lead.
With Kehoe and James Hickey to the fore, the Barrowsiders upped the tempo in the second half and looked set to prevail until John Mike Dooley's goal in the dying moments brought the sides level on 1-13 to 2-10 and forced extra-time.
Scores were at a premium in the additional 20 minutes with James Hickey edging Carlow in front before former Tipperary star Evan Sweeney levelled for the Kingdom. Substitute Robert Foley put Carlow in front once again in the 83rd minute, but Kerry refused to accept defeat and Brick's late equaliser means the sides must meet again in Tralee next weekend.
Scorers - Carlow: P Kehoe 1-6 (0-6f), J Hickey 0-4 (1 sl), S Kavanagh (2 '65s), R Foley 0-2 each, M Brennan 0-1. Kerry: S Brick 1-5 (1-0 pen, 0-3f), J M Dooley 1-3, E Sweeney 0-2, B Brick, G O'Brien 0-1 each. Referee: T Carroll (Offaly).

Anna Carmody, LiLou Le Prince, Megan McCarthy, Stella McElligott, Sharon O’Connor and Melissa O’Sullivan proudly made their promise as Brownies in front of their parents, siblings and their Brownie pack. All our Brownies were presented with their Footprint badges and special interest badges. We had a great party with games, a singsong and plenty of lovely goodies to eat and drink.
It has been an eventful year and thanks to our District Commissioner Val Caplen we have made many new guiding friends. In December we joined other Brownie packs in the area for Carol Singing at Manor West; in January it was the Panto in Siamsa;, February was Thinking Day; March was the St Patrick’s Day parade in Tralee; April we travelled to Ovens, Co Cork for Regional Fun Day. We thank all our parents for their wonderful support and anyone else who helped us in any way. We break until September - watch these notes for the date.

CROTTA COISTE NA NOG NEWS
U8 : Crotta Under 8 hurlers took part in the U8 Blitz last Monday evening in Abbeydorney. They played three matches and although the blitz is run to allow young players to enjoy hurling, all clubs like to guage how their players play against other teams. Our boys won their matches against Ballyduff and Kilmoyley and lost narrowly to Abbeydorney. The blitz will take place on Monday June 1st and Monday June 8th.
U10: Crotta U10 team made the long journey to Killgarvan to participate in their invitational blitz. It took place last Saturday in brilliant sunshine and everyone enjoyed their day out. They played four matches and topped the table with three wins and one draw. They drew with Abbeydorney and won against Kenmare, Ballduff and Killgarvan. Thanks to Geraldine Foley and the Killgarvan club for inviting us and for looking after players and supporters so well. All had a great day. The panel of players who took part were: Darragh O Donoghue, Dominic Nolan, Adam O Sullivan, Barry Mahony, Damien Larkin, Alex Lawlor, Aaron Murnane, Danny Quilter, John Quilter, Padraig Hunt, Pauric Shanahan, Brian O Connell, Jack Mc Kenna, Eamonn Rohan, Darragh Behan. All players received a medal afterwards. Sonny Egan Chairman of Crotta Coiste Na nOg thanked the Killgarvan club for their hospitality and said their was a great tradition between Crotta and Killgarvan.
U12: Causeway was the venue for our last match at under 12 level. It was the meeting of the Division 1 (Causeway) champions and the Division 2 champions. Causeway are the best team we have met this year and they played the 1st half with the aid of a very strong breeze. Our lads settled down to the task in hand and gave as good as they got. The intensity of the match was unreal and scores were hard to come by. Causeway opened the scoring with a pointed free. They then scored from play to put two points between the teams. However despite the weather conditions Crotta were creating chances and from a nice passage of play involving Jordan Conway, Sean O Donoghue, and Brandon Conway, Raymond Nolan clinically found the Causeway net. With half time approching however Causeway goaled themselves and a pointed free let the score at half time Causeway1-03 Crotta 1-00. The boys gave it everything in the second half and now aided with the breeze scored two points immediately upon the restart. Darragh O Regan with a point from play and the same player pointed a 65'. Exchances were fierce and Darragh Kennelly was driving the Crotta lads forward. One of his clearances found Jordan Conway who evaded his marker and then released Sean O Donoghue who tied the scores from a difficult angle,
Crotta had the momentum and Jordan Conway was chief tormentor of the Causeway back line. He was fouled on two occasions and Darragh O Regan converted both frees. Another from play from the same player left Crotta leading now by a goal. However Causeway were still applying pressure and although Adam O Sullivan in goals made a tremendous dive to prevent the ball going in the net, it hit the bar and fell invitingly for an incoming forward. Now tied again at 2-03 to 1-06 it was anyones game. Two more pointed frees and one from play (all O'Regan) left Crotta 3 points ahead but just before full time the Division 1 champions goaled again to level the score at full time Crotta 1-09 Causeway 3-03.
Tony Mc Carthy refered the match and although people queried the time played and thee score, Tony did well in keeping a tremendous match flowing.
