EGG PAINTING AND DECORATING COMPETITIONS
The organiser of the competitions, Terry Le Cuirot, Kilflynn, would like to thank all those who took part in this year’s painted egg and decorated egg competition at the Kilflynn vintage rally on the 14th June. Congratulations to the prize winners who were in 1st places, L. Dowling, D. Quilter, N. Quinn and N. Healy. In 2nd places R. Byrne, E. Quilter, A. O’ Connor, and E. Nolan. In 3rd. places J. O’ Sullivan, K. Corkery, S. Rohan, and A. O’ Connell, and merit awards went to C. Brady, Z. Mc Carthy, K. Buckley, and A. Flanagan. It was a shame that there were only four winners in each category and age group as all entries deserved a prize for the brilliant exhibits that were on show.
The competition was ably judged by Caroline and her sister, my thanks to both of them for deciding the winners in a very high standard of exhibits. In total, counting each multiple entry as separate eggs there were 250 eggs on show.
The children from the 3rd and 4th year classes displayed a montage depicting a summer scene themed ‘Kilflynn Vintage 2015’ created from ‘finger knitting’ which took pride of place within the egg competition. Come on all county primary schools and see what you can do, as next year I am opening the competition to postal entries. Watch the small adds spaces in the The Kerryman, Kerry’s Eye, The North Kerry Advertiser and The Tralee Outlook for next year’s vintage rally. Terrie would like also to thank the Kilflynn Vintage Club for sponsoring the prizes.
