ST. TERESA’S NATIONAL SCHOOL
St. Teresa’s National School, Kilflynn was first opened in 1910 and plans are currently being put in place to celebrate over 100 years of education in the school. The celebration is planned for the summer months and all current and past pupils will be invited to partake in this special event. This year the school community is also looking forward to the future with the planned installation of an artificial playing surface at the school. This will be a huge addition to the facilities in the school and will provide excellent playing conditions for the children all year round. Fundraising for this project will be incorporated into the planned celebration and all past pupils will be contacted over the coming months. As part of the celebrations it is proposed to publish a commemorative booklet on the history of the school. This booklet will contain items on the history of the school, a full list of all past pupils, old class photographs, stories and reminiscences of past pupils as well as other items of interest to do with the school. COMMUNITY GAMES
The art and handwriting competitions were held in Listowel last weekend, and I'm delighted to say that the area was well represented in both competitions and didn't come home empty handed. Aoibhe McKenna Kilflynn won a bronze medal in the handwriting competition and Cillian Baker, Kilflynn came 4th in boys u-10 art competition, winning a certificate. This was a great achievement for both Aoibhe and Cillian as the standard was extremely high and the judges found it very difficult to come to a decision. I would like to thank the teachers in Abbeydorney NS, Kilflynn NS, and Killahan NS. for all their help in running these competitions at area level.
Upccoming Events: If there are any children interested in competing in cross country, mixed distance (400m. 600m, 700m), swimming, model-making, judo, please let me know as soon as possible Patsy 087 9864656
