KILFLYNN COMMUNITY TOGETHER ( K.C.T)
Kilflynn Community Together held their first full Committee meeting on Wednesday 18th March in the St. Columbus Centre. This Committee which is 18 strong was elected at the 2nd Open Public meeting held on March 4th 2015.

Chairman Mick Brady addressed the meeting welcoming everyone and outlined a general vision for development of ideas from the community through the first 2 Open Community Meetings.
The 1st plan is to put the development ideas received into Short, Medium and Long term goals of K.C.T.
Following long discussion it was agreed that a few Short term goals would be pushed forward now with a more comprehensive plan being put together over the coming months to achieve the Medium to Long term projects, which will be on going in the years ahead. Topping the list of Short term goals were;
Signage for Kilflynn - approach roads and entrances to the village
Traffic and Road safety issues. (with particular infuses on the school and Child Safety )
The Bridge (to be painted and enhanced)
Litter control in all areas of Kilflynn.
Holding a Community Day in the Village
Making an application to Kerry County Council Community Support Fund
However, before the yellow jackets can go on and work begin it was agreed that Insurance would be put in place as soon as the finance was available to do so and it is hoped that with membership at only €5 the whole Parish will get involved and this can be put this in place in a short time.
Membership is available in all local Business outlets and with your support the work can begin very very soon.

ACTIVE RETIRED GROUP
A social afternoon for the Abbeydorney/Kilflynn Active group will be held in Abbeydorney Community Hall on Wednesday 25th March at 1.00 p.m. A meal will be served, followed by entertainment. If transport is needed, phone 7135831

EASTER RETREAT
The Easter Retreat for the ladies of Abbeydorney/Kilflynn parish in Ardfert Retreat Centre on Tuesday 31st March at 8.00 p.m. All welcome.

NEW ARRIVAL
Congratulations and good wishes to Mary and Kevin Galvin, Crotta, Kilflynn on the birth of their baby girl, Annabel Mary, who was born on Sunday 15th March at Kerry General Hospital, Tralee, and a sister for Neil, Daniel and Ronan.

WEDDING BELLS
Congratulations to Bernadette McGaley, daughter of Billy and Patrica McGaley, Fahavane, Kilflynn and Paudie Egan, son of Padraig and Mary Egan, Clashmealcon, Causeway who were married in St. John's Church, Causeway, on Saturday 14th March. Family and friends attended the wedding ceremony and afterwards the wedding reception, which was held in Ballygarry House Hotel, Tralee.We wish Bernadette and Paudie many happy years of married life together.

KERRY SENIOR HURLERS
Westmeath and Kerry will meet in the Division 2A final on Saturday 4th April at 3.00p.m in Gaelic Grounds, Limerick,
following a 3-17 to 2-10 victory over London by Kerry in Austin Stack Park on Sunday 22nd March.
The Crotta Hurling club was represented by Sean Weir (Wing back) (0-02) and Shane Nolan scoring 0-02 at (Centre forward).

U-14 HURLING
Lee Strand County U-14 Hurling League Div1 Ballyduff 2-07 to 3-02 played in Ballyduff on Saturday 21st March, Crotta play Ballyheigue in the next round on Saturday.

Many congratulations to the O'Neills Crotta Senior Scor music group on their success on advancing to the Munster final on Saturday night, 21st March in Cappamore, Co. Limerick in the Munster Semi Finals.
The group will represent The North Kerry Hurling Board, The Crotta Hurling Club and Kerry, at the Club Éire Óg, Ovens (Na hUaimheanna), Co. Cork, on Saturday 28th March, ag tosú ag 6.30pm:-
and compete against Cork, Clare and Tipperary. The group members are Sean Abeyta,Mike Rice, Niamh Abeyta, Sinead O' Sullivan and Mairead Curran.
Great Credit once again to Crotta Scor officer Ann Mahony for her great guidance and organising of the Crotta competitors. We wish Sean, Mike, Niamh Sinead, Mairead and Ann all the best.

SCOR NA bPAISTI
Well done to our young musicians who represented the Crotta Hurling club at the County scor na bpaistí finals on Sunday in in the Gleneagle Hotel Killarney on Sunday 22nd March. While they did not feature in the medal category they performed very well and congratulations must go on this occasion to St.Senans who won this event. The Crotta group members were Amy O' Sullivan, Daragh O' Braoin,Conor O' Braoin, Michael Shanahan and Rory Mahony.
Thanks toAnn Mahony for her continued hard work over the years as club Scor Officer and have done terrific work promoting Scor within the club.

DEVELOPMENT MEETING
The Crotta Hurling Club will hold a Development meeting on Thursday night 26th March in the clubrooms, Dromakee, Kilflynn at 8.00p.m. All are welcome.

NIGHT AT THE DOGS
Causeway Comprehensive School will be running a Night at the Dogs on Friday 27th. There will be 10 races and lots of entertainment on the night.
Local celebrities will take part in a race against teachers and students. There will be a huge raffle on the night with fantastic prizes sponsored by local businesses e.g. 2 x€100 vouchers from Atlantic Oils, €100 voucher for Sean Hussey menswear, Munster Rugby tickets and much much more. Please come along and support what is to be a fun filled family night.Tickets available from the school and at the door on the night.

FREE CHILD PROTECTION WORKSHOP
Mike Murphy, 6th Degree Black Belt in Taekwon-Do will lead a practical based workshop for parents and children in the core fundamental movement skills of self defence, in aid of staying safe, acting wisely and making decisions in our society.

Following the disappointing defeat to Westmeath on home soil last weekend, Kerry Senior hurlers travelled to Carlow on Sunday 15th March and came away with a very deserved win following a high scoring game played at a helter-skelter pace throughout. Kerry 1-24 Carlow 3-17

ST. PATRICK'S DAY PARADE
The Kilflynn St. Patrick's Day Parade meeting was held on Friday 6th March in St. Columbas Centre, Kilflynn, and was attended by a good cross-section of the community. Outgoing Secretary Susan Enight, did not seek re-election. Thanks to Susan for her work during her terms in office and best of luck to the new officers in 2015.
The Following parade committee were elected: Chairman: Mike Neenan, Secretary: Anne Marie Chawke , P.R.O: Geraldine Parker, Joint treasurers: Tom McElligott and Tommy Neenan.
The Kilflynn St Patrick's Day parade, and Fancy Dress Parade will commence at 4.00 p.m. sharp on Tuesday 17th March from St Teresa’s National School and Judging and presentation of prizes in the Fancy dress competitions at St. Columbas Centre after the parade. There will be trophies for 1st, 2nd and 3rd Places in under 3, 6,10, and Over 10. There will be also medals for all participants. Again, this Year there is Trophy and 100 Euro for the Best float, All those interested in Participating in the parade or in the fancy dress competitions, please assemble at the School at 3.30 p.m. Entry Fee per child in the fancy dress is €2 or three for €5. Any organisations, business or individual wishing to take part in this years parade are very welcome to do so. Hope to see you all there. The next meeting of The Kilflynn Parade will be held Wednesday night 11th March at 9.15 p.m. in St. Columbas Centre, Kilflynn. All welcome to attend this meeting. KILFLYNN COMMUNITY TOGETHER
Following a very productive and very well attended Public meeting in St. Columbas Centre, Kilflynn on Wednesday night 4th March a new community organization “Kilflynn Community Together” was formed. The goals and objectives of this new community group are to work together for the betterment of Kilflynn . A committee has been put in place which is Chaired by Michael Brady, President Mike Hickey, Vice Chairman, Mike Barry, Secretary, Alan O'Connell, Treasurers Karen Tuite and Darren Houlihan and P.R.O Tim O'Halloran.
The committee consists of I6 members of the community , from business and clubs to residents of Kilflynn from all areas of the Parish . It is hoped that all our community will come behind this initiative and that over time a lot can be achieved to make Kilflynn a better cleaner place for everyone. It was decided that a small membership subscription of €5 would be sought to help bring “Kilflynn Community Together” forward and should any Kilflynn resident wish to be a member the businesses of the Village will have membership available to you in theIR outlets . Look forward to regular updates on the progress of this New initiative in our notes in the weeks/months and years ahead ……

The Crotta Hurling Club Instrumental scor group of Rory Mahony, Michael Shanahan, Amy O'Sullivan, Conor Breen and Darragh Breen who participated at The County Semi Finals of Scor Na bPaisti at the Community Centre, Knocknagoshel on Sunday 8th March and qualified for the County Finals in the Gleneagle Hotel Killarney on Sunday 22nd. March

SCOR NA BPAISTI COUNTY SEMI FINALS
The County Semi Finals of Scor Na bPaisti for the North of the County took place at the Community Centre, Knocknagoshel on Sunday 8th March where this very popular competition was well attended. It was a very successful evening for the North Kerry Hurling Board and Crotta Hurling Club Instrumental Scor Group of Rory Mahony, Michael Shanahan, Amy O'Sullivan, Conor Breen and Darragh Breen who qualified for the County Finals in the Gleneagle Hotel Killarney on Sunday 22nd March at 3.30pm

BALL RUN
The Crotta Hurling Club are holding a Ball Run on Tuesday 17th March in Kilflynn village before the Kilflynn
St Patrick's Day parade. Buy a ball for only 5 euro and you could win 500 euro. Who will have the winning ball going down the hill on Tuesday? There are few lines left. Contact the Senior players or from Herbert's Bar or Parker's Pub. C'mon support the club and join in the Fun.

LITERACY WEEK
Scoil Trease Naofa, Kilflynn held a Literacy Week in conjunction with it's Scholastic Book Fair from 23rd-27th February. Both were a superb success! The children loved the in class activities, visits to the Book Fair, a "Design a Book Cover" competition and finally a fun "Dress up as a Character" from a book day on the Friday. The children (and teachers) made a huge effort to dress up and take part. Prizes of fantastic books from the Book Fair were won by many children. Well done to all involved.

KILFLYNN CHOIR FOR R.T.E MASS
Members of The Kilflynn Church Choir, Musicians and The Congregation from St Mary’s Church in Kilflynn, will represent the area and the County once again at a mass to be televised live from the RTE Studios in Donnybrook on Sunday 15th March at 11.00 am. The mass, which will be celebrated by Fr William King, goes out live on Sunday morning, on RTE 1. It will also be available on the internet for those with relatives living abroad who would like to see it. The Kilflynn Church Choir also featured in a live mass from the studios, on Sunday 16th June 2013, It's a great achievement for the area. PADRAIG O'LEARY (SNR)
The death has occurred of Padraig O'Leary (SNR) Knocknahilla, Kilflynn Cross, at Kerry General Hospital on Tuesday 3rd March. His remains were removed from Mc Elligott's Funeral Home, Tralee, on Thursday evening to St. Mary's Church, Kilflynn. and burial took place in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Kilflynn after Requiem Mass celebrated by Fr. Ned Barrett on Friday 6th March.
Deeply regretted by his loving family - (pre-deceased by his wife Norah and son Bill), Padraig is survived by his
son Paddy, daughters Anna, Lyn and Therese (residing in Cork), grandchildren Padraig (Jnr), Nicola, Damien, Cathal, Billy and Lynda, greatgrandson Conor, son-in-law Billy, daughter-in-law Norah, relatives, neighbours and a large circle of friends whom we offer our deepest sympathy. May He Rest in Peace

KERRY SENIOR HURLERS
There was no joy for the Kerry Senior Hurlers who were defeated by Westmeath on Sunday 8th March in Austin Stack's Park in The Allianz Hurling League Roinn 2A Round 3, (Kerry 0 – 12 to Westmeath 3 – 18). The Crotta Hurling club was represented by Sean Weir (Centre forward) and Shane Nolan (Corner forward). Kerry travel to Carlow on Sunday next for Round 4.

KILFLYNN ST.PATRICKS DAY MEETING
The Kilflynn St. Patrick's Day committee Annual General Meeting takes place on Friday 6th March at 9.15 p.m in St. Columbus Centre, Kilflynn. Response is needed if the Kilflynn Parade is to go ahead as there was a very poor attendance at the last meeting.Please attend this important meeting and everyone welcome.

KILFLYNN CHOIR FOR R.T.E MASS
Members of The Kilflynn Church Choir, Musicians and The Congregation from St Mary’s Church in Kilflynn, will represent the area and the County once again at a mass to be televised live from the RTE Studios in Donnybrook on Sunday 15th March at 11.00 am. The mass, which will be celebrated by Fr William King, goes out live on Sunday morning, on RTE 1. It will also be available on the internet for those with relatives living abroad who would like to see it. The Kilflynn Church Choir also featured in a live mass from the studios, on Sunday 16th June 2003, It's a great achievement for the area.

FIANNA FAIL
A Meeting of Kilflynn Fianna Fail Cumann will take place on Saturday 7th March at 8.00p.m in St. Columbas Centre, Kilflynn.

KERRY SENIOR HURLERS
The Kerry Senior Hurlers play Westmeath on Sunday 8th March at 1.00p.m in Austin Stack's Park in The Allianz Hurling League Roinn 2A Round 3. Best of luck to Crotta players Sean Weir and Shane Nolan and their Kerry team mates. Forthcoming games include 15th March (away) and London on 22nd March (home).

SYMPATHY
Our Sincere sympathy is extended to Danny Diggins, Castletown, Kilflynn on the recent death of his mother, Peggy Diggins (nee Foley) Tralee. Peggy was also the grandmother of Kevin O'Brien, Ballyconnell, Kilflynn, and our sympathies are extended to the O'Brien Family and extended Diggins Family, Relatives and Friends. May she rest in peace.

DARTS
Parker's Darts team defeated The Munster Bar, Tralee in Parker's on Friday 27th February in the Tralee and District Dart league. Parker's are at home to Brosnan's Bar in Moyvane on Friday 6th March.
