COISTE NA NOG NEWS
Crotta under 12 team continued their good run of form with another win in division 1 of county league last Friday evening. Kenmare/Kilgarvan were the visitors to Mountcoal. The pitch was wet and heavy and good hurling was difficult to play. Both teams to their credit did their best to provide an entertaining match for those present. Crotta opened their account with a fine Jordan Conway point which was followed by a pointed 65 and a free from Darragh O'Regan. O'Regan also got a goal to leave Crotta in a strong position. However a bit of loose marking saw Kenmare raise a green flag and a pointed free from John Mark Foley saw the score at Crotta 1-03, Kenmare/Kilgarvan 1-01. Jordan Conway who was to prove to be the key player of the match got two great points from play with 5min to go to half-time. Raymond Nolan then made a lovely break through the oppositions defence to score a crucial goal before half-time.
H/t Crotta 2-04 Kenmare/Kilgarvan 2-01:
The second half was fiercely contested by both teams and it took a Thomas Quinlan goal to steady Crotta nerves. Darragh O'Regan and John Mark Foley swapped pointed frees to leave the full time score Crotta 3-05 Kenmare/Kilgarvan 2-02. Jordan Conway was inspirational throughout and he was ably assisted by Darragh Ryan, Adrian Mahony (outstanding) and David Behan, Barry Mahony, Raymond Nolan, Colin Browne and Darragh O'Regan also had their moments. Dominic Nolan impressed when introduced. Team: Adam O Sullivan Bill Keane Darragh Ryan(capt) David Behan Thomas Quinlan(1-00) Darragh Kennelly Brandon Conway Barry Mahony Adrian Mahony Cathal Kennelly Colin Browne Darragh O Regan(1-02) Jordan Conway(0-03) Sean O'Donoghue Raymond Nolan(1-00) . Subs Donnacha Brosnan for Sean O'Donoghue (injured) 18min, Dominic Nolan for Thomas Quinlan 35min. Referee Tom Godley was excellent despite the conditions of the pitch. On that note I would like to thank the St. Senans Club and especially Chairman David O'Halloran for making their pitch and clubrooms available to us.

U14 HURLERS:
Crotta under 14 team made the long journey to Dingle to play against the home team who top the division 2 table. After a brave performance from a team which is made up of the majority of the U12 team. Dingle came out on top 4-07 to 1-04. A few soft goals were conceded and other than that the lads can be well pleased with their performance. Denis Mahony and Andrew O'Regan (Duagh) deserve great credit for doing so well at this age group. Crotta/Duagh would not have many hurlers at this age group but Denis and Andrew have moulded a nice team together albeit a young team.

Crotta made the short journey to Lixnaw to play Lixnaw in the first round of the county league Division 1 on Friday evening, 15th May. Following a fine team performance we came away with the two points.
It was a perfect evening for hurling and Crotta put the first score on the board followong a free by Darragh O'Regan. Crotta's goal scorers were Jordan Conway, Darragh O'Regan and Brandan Conway. David Behan scored a fine point in that first half. The second half went Crotta's way as well and whatever comeback Lixnaw had in mind was ended by a superb Raymond Nolan goal.Final score Crotta 4-10 Lixnaw 2-04. DENIS LYNCH MEMORIAL GOLF OUTING

The massive turnout was truly a great tribute to Denis, and was an occasion for many of his friends to pay their annual trip to the golf course, though it was obvious that some must be getting in secret practice because the scoring was excellent with just a few shots covering the entire field. The Golf was followed by a superb barbeque in Parkers Bar which was followed by the presentation of prizes and music provide by DJ Clive. Gerald Byrnes did an excellent job as MC. Many worthy tributes were paid to Denis during the presentation. The overall winners were captained by Mike Hickey who accepted the beautiful Denis Lynch Perpetual Trophy on behalf of his team. 5th May

CROTTA U-12S
Congratulations to our U12 team who captured the Div 2 title last Friday evening,1st May in Ballyheigue before a large attendance. Ardfert were our opponents and over the last couple of years we have won, albeit in tight matches. We expected a similar match this time but what unfolded throughout the evening was totally different. Our lads were fired up from the word go and had scored a goal inside the first minute.
Brandon Conway applied the finishing touch after good work by Sean O'Donoghue. Darragh O'Regan who was to be unerring throughout the evening from placed balls, pointed two frees. Cathal Kennelly put his name on the scoresheet on 10 mins following trojan work by Colin Browne. O'Regan converted a 65 before supplying a fast ball which full-forward O'Donoghue dispatched over the bar. Another 65 and two from play all from the stick of Darragh O'Regan left the score Crotta 1.07 Ardfert 0.00. Ardfert then enjoyed a period of sustained pressure but they found the Crotta full backline of Bill Keane, Darragh Ryan and David Behan in superb form. Anytime they did manage to threaten the Crotta goals Adam O'Sullivan impressively cleared his lines.
Halftime Crotta 1.07 ardfert 0.00.
We knew the Ardfert lads would put us under pressure at the beginning of the second half and they got their first score(goal) after the throw in. Darragh Kennelly who was outstanding at centre back was hurling with great authority and supplied the forwards with plenty of ball. O'Regan again pointed a free as the Ardfert backs who were under a lot of pressure were fouling the Crotta forwards. Jordan Conway then pointed a 30m sideline ball from under the stand which the Crotta Supporters showed their appreciation for. The supporters deserve great thanks for turning up in big numbers and cheering every Crotta move. Margaret Canty (Brandons Nan) led the Green and Red army from the stand.
Ardfert who seemed to have an off day as we know can happen to all teams added another goal and point at this stage. However it was to be the Darragh O'Regan show from here on in as he again pointed two frees, a 65 and scored two points from play one which he shook off four Ardfert opponents to split the posts. Final score Crotta 1.13 Ardfert 2.01. Amid great scenes of celebrations Pat Corridon Ballyheighue presented a worthy captain Darragh Ryan with the trophy. All players played their part but the spine of the team namely, captain Ryan, Darragh Kennelly, Colin Browne and Sean O'Donoghue impressed. Darragh Kennelly and Darragh O'Regan would vie for the man of the match award.
The following is the panel that brought the first trophy back to Kilflynn:Adam OSullivan, Bill Keane, Darragh Ryan, David Behan, Thomas Quinlan, Darragh Kennelly, Barry Mahony, Jordan Conway(0-01), Adrian Mahony, Cathal Kennelly(0-01), Colin Browne, Darragh O'Regan(0-10), Brandon Conway(1-00), Sean O'Donoghue(0-01), Raymond Nolan, Donnacha Brosnan, Gearoid Galvin, Dylan McElligott,Killian Mullins, Jack Glavin, Jamie O'Sullivan, Danny Quinland, Aaron Murnane, Mark Egan, Nathan Fahey,Dominic Nolan, Greg Leahy.
It was great to see these lads win as they are a joy to train. It was great to see so many people out waving flags as we drove back home.
Thanks to Patrick Corridan and Mike Burkett of Ballyheighue for having the pitch and grounds in perfect condition and for providing the venue at short notice.
The match referee was John Hussey from the Ballyduff club who did an excellent job in keeping the game flowing.
Well done to the coaches Plunkett, Mike, Paul and Jerome. Thanks to Maura Egan for organising the food after the match which we all enjoyed.
