KILFLYNN VINTAGE RALLY Weekend June 13th, 14th, 15th
After taking a break in 2013, we are delighted to announce that Kilflynn Vintage Rally is returning bigger and better than ever in 2014! This year sees a three day event with the vintage car run taking place on the Friday evening June 13th, followed by the vintage tractor run on Saturday evening June 14th, and then the main event, the Kilflynn Vintage Rally, on Sunday June 15th. We hope to see you all in Kilflynn for what will be a weekend to remember!

TRALEE C.B.S
Congratulations and Well done to Crotta hurler Adrian Mahony, Tullig, Kilflynn who received the C.B.S, The Green, Secondary School, Tralee. Hurling Player of the Year Award 2014. Adrian is a son of former Crotta hurler Denis Mahony and Arlyn Mahony and he received his Award on Thursday night 22nd May at the end of the year School's award night. Adrian was the third Crotta player to received this award with Paul Costello in 2007 and Thomas Quille in 2009.

COUNTY U-16 TITLE FOR CROTTA
Congratulations and well done to the Crotta Under 16 hurlers who captured the County U-16 Hurling league div 1 title with 3-08 to 1-10 victory over a gallant Ardfert side on Sunday 11th May in the sports field, lerrig.
Ardfert led by 0-05 to 0-03 at half time. Great credit to both teams who provided a very entertaining and sporting game. County Board Coiste na nÓg secretary Tadgh O'Halloran presented the shield to victorious Crotta Captain Tomas O'Connor. Crotta will take part in their second feile this year where they will be hosted in Termonfeckin Co Louth. THE BRAWL IN THE HALL
The eagerly anticipated White Collar Boxing Event will see Crotta Hurling Club collide with St.Senan's Football Club, on Saturday 31st May in St. Senan's club house, mounthcoal.
There will be Nine bone-crunching boxing bouts between the GAA Gladiators. The excitement in North Kerry is building, as this monumental event approaches! The boxers have been diligently preparing and training for Fight Night. These courageous fighters will be in peak condition come show time.
“The Brawl in the Hall” will kick off at 9.00pm . Tickets are reasonably priced at €15 euro and are now available to buy from officers from both clubs.
The objective of the Big Event is to raise funds for the further development of both clubs. So don’t miss out! Come out and support your local Sport’s Clubs! WELLINGTON THROWING COMPETITIONS
Ladies and Gents Wellington Throwing competitions which taking place in Kilflynn village, on Friday 13th June at 8.00 p.m. with trophies for the first, second and third in both Ladies and Gents categories. Competitors are required to hurl a Wellington Boot as far as possible within boundary lines, from a standing or running start. So get the Wellies out and start practising!

KINGDOM COUNTY FAIR
Fifth and Sixth class of St. Teresa’s National School, Kilflynn were the overall winners in a knitting competition for the Kingdom County Fair held recently. They decided on the theme of ‘The Teddy Bear’s Picnic.’ They incorporated spool and finger knitting as well as needle work to make a maypole, food items, teddy bears and much more to complete their fantastic display. We’d like to say a huge thank you to Mary Brassil for guiding and helping us throughout the project.

Mike Fealy and Oliver Nash defeated John Leahy and Phil Morris in the weekly dart doubles final in Parker’s sung Bar, Kilflynn on Saturday night 24th May.
The next darts doubles tournament takes place on Saturday night 31st May at 10.30 p.m. in Parkers lounge Bar. Shane Nolan defeated Mark Allen in a very high standard final in the Single dart tournament 3-1 on Wednesday night 21st May. The Single Darts Tournament will continue every Wednesday night.

LISTOWEL WRITERS WEEK
A celebration of new writing for the stage. Scripts – Ireland's
Playwriting Festival presents this peformance of two stunning new plays by contemporary Irish Playwrights. Scripts was established by Angela Ryan of Kilflynn and is a festival dedicated to new Irish plays—the writing of them, the development and nurturing of them. Scripts presents the festivals winning play Made to Measure by Siobhan Donnellan and the Audience's Choice Keep The Home Fires Burning by Darren Donohue. A rehearsed reading of these evocative, relevant, funny, moving plays is followed by a talkback session chaired by Eugene O' Brien, on the art of Playwriting – the making of a new play. Is Directed by Angela Ryan & Lisa Daly in St.John's Theatre, Listowel at 4pm on Friday 30th May. Duration 1 hour. May interest local drama groups.

Last year saw the continuation of the car and tractor run on the Saturday evening with hundreds coming out to support the club. We hope to see everyone back again this year for a fantastic weekend. Regular features such as steam engines, threshing, stationary engines, vintage cars, tractors, motorbikes as well as a whole lot more will be on display at the rally on Sunday. Events include sheaf tossing, dog show, terrier racing, and butter making, to mention but a few. There will be plenty entertainment on the day with amusements, kiddies puppet show, and face painting for the younger generation, while the Kilflynn Choir and a traditional Irish musicians will keep everybody entertained on the day. We hope to see you all in Kilflynn for what will be a weekend to remember!

A meeting to organise Clandouglas School Reunion will be held at the Half-Way Bar on Sunday night 18th May from 8.30 pm approx. Any school photographs in attics or old photo albums will be scanned and carefully returned again. These photographs will be displayed on the night of the Reunion Saturday 2nd August 2014.

The Crotta U-11 hurlers commenced the defence of their North Kerry Championship title with a victory over Abbeydorney on Friday evening 9th May on 5-01 to 0-3. Crotta scores were Gavin Parker 3-00, Darragh Keane 1-01 and Sean McElligott 1-00.

CHRISTY RING CUP
The Kerry Senior hurlers commenced their Christy Ring Cup campaign with a compressive victory over Derry on Saturday 3rd May in Austin Stacks Park Tralee. The Crotta hurling club was well represented by Sean Weir (wing back) who scored 2 points and Shane Nolan who scored 1-10 (0-5Fr), at corner-forward. Well done to Sean and Shane and their Kerry team mates.
Kerry will play the winners of the Kildare/Wicklow replay in the second round. First team listed has home venue. C.C.C.C will confirm dates, time.

CLANDOUGLAS SCHOOL REUNION
A meeting to organise Clandouglas School Reunion will be held at the Half-Way Bar on Sunday night 18th May from 8.30 pm approx. Any school photographs in attics or old photo albums will be scanned and carefully returned again. These photographs will be displayed on the night of the Reunion Saturday 2nd August 2014.

CAR WINNER
Congratulations to Kathleen Twomey, Gortclohy,Kilflynn, who won a brand new Citroen C4 in the Tralee Credit Union Members Car Draw recently. The Manager of Tralee Credit Union Fintan Ryan presented Kathleen with the Keys of new car on Friday 2nd May. We wish Kathleen many years of safe and happy motoring.

DARTS
Crotta Duo of Declan Falvey and John Leahy defeated Eileen Brennan and Paud Twomey Johnny O’Sullivan in the weekly dart doubles final in Parker’s lounge Bar, Kilflynn on Saturday night 3rd May.
The next darts doubles tournament takes place on Saturday night 10th May at 10.30 p.m. in Parkers lounge Bar. Tom Tom Frizell defeated Shane Nolan in a very high standard final in the Single dart tournament on Wednesday night 30th April. Beaten Semi finalist were Paud Twomey and Michael McCarthy. The Single Darts Tournament will continue every Wednesday night.

LIXNAW GOLF SOCIETY
The Golf Society heads to Ballybunion Golf Club on Saturday May 10th to play The Cashen course. The relevant committee members will be in touch with the players in the coming week about tee times for the 1st tee.
