FIRST COMMUNION
The Children from St Teresa's National School, Kilflynn will receive the sacrament of First Holy Communion at St Mary's Church, Kilflynn on Saturday 30th May at 11.00 a.m. We wish them, their families and teacher all the best and hope it will be an occasion always remembered with fondness.

CROTTA HURLING LOTTO RESULTS

GAA RESULTS
In North Kerry Under-11 Championship Crotta were defeated by Tralee Parnells at Caherslee GAA Grounds, Tralee, on the scoreline of 4-08 to 2-04 on Friday evening 22nd May. Crotta are away to Abbeydorney to this Friday evening 29th May at 6.30p.m. County Hurling League Div1, U-14 defending champions, Crotta had a 5-12 to 1-08 victory over a gallant Kilmoyley side on Saturday evening 23rd May in Lerrig, Crotta led by 0-10 to 1-03 at the interval break. Crotta now play Kenmare/Kilgarvan or Ballyduff in the final.
Crotta Senior Hurlers booked their place in the North Kerry League final with 0-16 to 0-10 victory over a gallant Ballyduff side on Sunday 24th May in the sports field, Ballyduff. Crotta team: Sean Twomey, Tom Quille, Cyril Lynch, Tom B Mc Elligott Jnr, Pa Quille, Mike Lynch, Jack Twomey, Adrian Mahony, Tomas O'Connor 0-01, Philip Twomey 0-01, Richard Nolan 0-9, Tom McElligott (village) 0-01, Dylan McElligott, Paul Culhane 0-3 and Keith Hannafin. KELLOGGS HURLING CUL CAMP
This camp will be held in the sportsfield, dromakee, Kilflynn from 3rd to 7th August. Open to primary school children between 6to 13 years of age from 10.00am to 2.30pm each day. SYMPATHIES
Everyone in the area were deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Maurice Joseph McElligott, Stoke-on-Trent,
England and late of Castletown, Kilflynn on Monday 27th April, aged 67. Sincere sympathies is extended to his daughter Siobhan, sisters Bridget and Joan, Brothers Tom and Liam, nieces, nephews, brother in law John, sister in law Maureen, relatives and friends. Maurice's funeral mass took place in St. Catholic Church, Bromley on Monday 11th May followed by cremation.
The death took place of Margaret O’Connell (Nee Somers) Deerpark, Lixnaw and late of Leith, East Tralee, in the loving care of management and staff of Cúil Dídin Nursing Home, Tralee, on Wednesday 20th May.
Her remains were removed from Stack’s Funeral Home Lixnaw on Friday evening to St.Michael’s Church Lixnaw. Burial after 11.a.m Mass on Saturday in St.Mary's Cemetery Kilflynn. Sincere sympathies to her husband Bernie, brothers Paud Mike and Johnny, Sister Maire, brothers in law, sisters in law, nephews, nieces, grandnephews, grandnieces, relatives and friends.

Michael ( Mick ) Kennelly, Croughcroneen, Dysert, Lixnaw. CONFIRMATION
Sixty one children from Abbeydorney NS, Kilflynn NS and Killahan NS received the Sacrament of Confirmation in St Bernard's Church, Abbeydorney, from the Bishop of Kerry, Rev Bishop Ray Browne, on Thursday 30th April. After the beautiful ceremony the Bishop posed for photographs with the children in the sunshine.

CONGRATULATIONS
On Sunday May 17th, a special event was held at the Kilflynn School of Taekwon -Do, which is based in the St Columbus centre. William O'Connor from Lyrecompane, who has been a student for a number of years, presented himself for his first degree black belt test. The examiner on the day was Mr William Owers 6th degree black belt, from Middleton in Cork and was assisted by school instructor Mr Mike Murphy 6th degree black belt .A large crowd of students and parents came to give their support.After a very hard test which lasted for one and a half hours,a very tired William was pleased to hear he had passed .His instructor presented him with his new black belt and new dobuk .A special thanks also to Cian Quirke 2nd degree black belt, who assisted in certain aspects of the test. Classes are held every Saturday from 4pm to 6pm in St Columbus centre, Kilflynn.

Congratulations and Well done to Crotta hurler Darragh Ryan, Knocknacaska, Kilflynn who received the C.B.S, The Green, Secondary School, Tralee. Hurling Player of the Year Award 2015. Darragh received his Award on Thursday night 14th May at the end of the year School's award night. Darragh was the fourth Crotta player to received this award with Paul Costello in 2007,Thomas Quille in 2009 and Adrian Mahony in 2014.

O'NEILLS CROTTA U-14 FEILE 2015
Crotta’s U14’s began their bid to win this year’s Feile with a trip to Kilgarvan to play the hosts and their near neighbours Abbeydorney on Saturday the 25th of April in the qualifying series. Their first match was against the 2014 Feile champions Abbeydorney and finished with a two point win for the Crotta boys by 6pts to 4pts. The scoreline does not reflect the pace of this game especially the first half which was as good as seen that day. Team and Scorers: Tadgh Mc Kenna, Jack “Kevin” Mc Kenna, Ryan Mc Elligott,Darragh Murnane,Denis Nolan,Declan O Donoghue(Captain)Aodhan Behan,Daniel O Rourke,Killian Trant,Denis Quille,Aodhan Mc kenna,(0.1pt)James Sheehan,(0.3pts)Tomas Dillion,Eoin Rehilhan, Sean Murnane.(0.2pts Frees) Subs, Donnacha Sayers, Gavin Parker and Killian Baker. Their second and last game was against hosts Kenmare/Kilgarvan. Three quick goals within the first five minutes put the hosts into an early lead however by half time Crotta had cut that deficit to three points. Crotta upped the pace in the second half scoring 1.1 early on. Scores were then exchanged before a last minute free by Crotta ensured that the game ended in a draw. Kenmare/Kilgarvan 3-02 to Crotta 2-05.Both teams qualified for the semi-finals the following weekend. After the disappointment of not qualifying for the 2015 Feile and more importantly the performance the team, mentors and supporter(who are to be thanked for providing transport on the day) headed to play Kenmare/Kilagarvan last Saturday 9th in the second last round of County league Division 1.
This was a must win for the Crotta boys if they had any intentions of progressing further in the competition. After an outstanding first half in which the whole team played very well and leading 6-05 to 1-01 at half time, eventually running out winners on a scoreline of 7-05 to 4-03. MUNSTER TITLE FOR KERRY U-16S HURLERS
Congratulations and well done to Crotta Hurlers Adam O’Sullivan, Jeaic McKenna Barry O’Mahony, John Quilter, Darragh Behan, Brian O’Connell and Eamon Shanahan who were members of the Kerry U-16 Hurling Panel who captured the Munster Under16 Hurling Inter-Divisional B title with a 1-14 to 1-07 victory over South Tipperary. The Kerry Management was Jerome O’Sullivan (Crotta) joined by John Hennessy (Ballyduff), John Healy (Ballyheigue)

Congratulations and well done to Megan Weir, Kilflynn who was on the victorious Kerry Camogie squad that recently won the National Camogie League Division 4 title and on Sunday 10th May, won the Munster Junior Camogie title against Cork on a scoreline of 3-9 to 3-5. There is a fund-raising table quiz for Kerry Camogie taking place next Friday night the 15th May at 9pm in McHales the Stretford in Bar Causeway for teams of 4 costing 5 euro per person. HURLING RESULTS
Hard luck to Crotta U-14 Hurlers who were defeated by Ballyheigue by 2-04 to 0-04 in the semi final of feile in Lixnaw on Saturday evening 2nd May. Ballyheigue led By 1-00 to 0-02 half time.
Tournafulla defeated Crotta by 2-15 to 3-09 in The Patrick O'Mahony Senior Hurling Tournament Final in Ballyheigue on Sunday 3rd May. Crotta had a 1-11 to 0-11victory over host's Ballyheigue in the semi-final on Saturday 2nd May.

KILFLYNN ENCHANTED FAIRY FESTIVAL
This years Festival is taking place on Saturday 27th & Sunday 28th June and all the plans are at an advanced stage and there is great excitement around the village.
Kilflynn Fairy Festival are looking for community members to volunteer for a couple of hours over the weekend of the Festival and if you are available please contact Alan 087 2305320 or email enchantedfairyfestival@gmail.com

CHRISTY RING CUP
Well Done to the Kerry Senior hurlers who commenced their Christy Ring Cup campaign on Saturday 2nd May in Austin Stacks Park Tralee and had a comfortable 7 point win over Down in Round 1 of the 2015 competition, Kerry 2 – 17 Down 2 – 10 Kerry led by by 5 points at the break, Kerry 2 - 7 Down 1 – 5.
The Crotta Hurling club was represented by Sean Weir (Wing back) and Shane Nolan (Centre Forward) who scored 0-06. Kerry are play Meath in Austin Stack's Park, on Saturday 9th May. Best of luck to Sean and Shane and their Kerry team mates.

GOLF
Denis Lynch Memorial Golf Scramble is on at Killorglin Golf Club on the 23rd of May. Please place your name on list that is on display in Parker's Pub. Teams of three will be published later.

CYCLING
The Local Crotta Cycling Group will continue their cycling trips on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Starting from Barry’s in Crotta at 6:30 p.m. All are welcomed even if you are a novice cyclist or have not cycled for a number of years. You can start with a few miles and progress from there. Crotta U-16 Hurlers booked their place in the Semi final of the County League Div 1 at the sportsfield, dromakee, Kilflynn with a 3-13 to 3-04 victory over Causeway on Thursday evening 23rd April. Crotta play Tralee Parnells on Thursday 7th May at 7.00 in the sportsfield, dromakee.

CROTTA U-12S
County U-12 Hurling League Div2, Round 5, played in the Sports field, dromakee on Friday 1st May , Crotta defeated
Kilmoyley by 2-05 to 0-02. Well done lads.

The Abbeydorney/Kilflynn Community Games will take place on Monday 18th May in Abbeydorney Sportsfield at 6.15pm. There are a number of events for boys and girls from U8 to U16, also there will be fun races. BALLINCROSSIG N.S
All children wishing to enrol in Ballincrossig N.S. Ballyduff from the Ballincrossig and surrounding areas are invited to attend the school’s open day on Friday 15th May 2015 between 1pm and 3pm.The school celebrated its Golden Jubilee last year and published a book celebrating the history and achievements of the school down through the years.

Phil Morris and J.P Twomey defeated Eileen Brennan and Declan Falvey in the weekly double darts tournament in Parker's lounge Bar on Saturday 2nd May.
The next darts doubles tournament takes place on Saturday night 9th May at 10.30 p.m. in Parkers lounge Bar. Parker's Darts team defeated McHales Stretford End Bar, Causeway on Friday 8th May by 5-2 at McHales in the Tralee and District Dart league. Parker's play in the semi final on Friday night 15th May in The Huddle Bar, Tralee.

O'NEILLS CROTTA U-14 FEILE 2015
Crotta’s U14’s began their bid to win this year’s Feile with a trip to Kilgarvan to play the hosts and their near neighbours Abbeydorney on Saturday the 25th of April in the qualifying series. Their first match was against the 2014 Feile champions Abbeydorney and finished with a two point win for the Crotta boys by 6pts to 4pts. The scoreline does not reflect the pace of this game especially the first half which was as good as seen that day. Team and Scorers: Tadgh Mc Kenna, Jack “Kevin” Mc Kenna, Ryan Mc Elligott,Darragh Murnane,Denis Nolan,Declan O Donoghue(Captain)Aodhan Behan,Daniel O Rourke,Killian Trant,Denis Quille,Aodhan Mc kenna,(0.1pt)James Sheehan,(0.3pts)Tomas Dillion,Eoin Rehilhan, Sean Murnane.(0.2pts Frees) Subs, Donnacha Sayers, Gavin Parker and Killian Baker. Their second and last game was against hosts Kenmare/Kilgarvan. Three quick goals within the first five minutes put the hosts into an early lead however by half time Crotta had cut that deficit to three points. Crotta upped the pace in the second half scoring 1.1 early on. Scores were then exchanged before a last minute free by Crotta ensured that the game ended in a draw. Kenmare/Kilgarvan 3-02 to Crotta 2-05.Both teams qualified for the semi-finals the following weekend. After the disappointment of not qualifying for the 2015 Feile and more importantly the performance the team, mentors and supporter(who are to be thanked for providing transport on the day) headed to play Kenmare/Kilagarvan last Saturday 9th in the second last round of County league Division 1.

This was a must win for the Crotta boys if they had any intentions of progressing further in the competition. After an outstanding first half in which the whole team played very well and leading 6-05 to 1-01 at half time, eventually running out winners on a scoreline of 7-05 to 4-03. They headed back to North Kerry with another valuable 2pts on the table.

An outing for the Abbeydorney/Kilflynn Active Retired Group will take place on Wednesday 6th May to Crag Cave, Castleisland. A meal will be served, followed by a Bird Show and shopping in Castleisland. Bus will leave Abbeydorney Community Centre at 12 noon. If transport is needed, phone 7135831

CROTTA HURLING LOTTO RESULTS
The Four numbers drawn out of the drum by the Independent observer: Betty Falvey, Garrynagore, Lixnaw on Monday night 4th May in Parker's Pub, Kilflynn were 6,15,18 and 22. There was No winner of €8,400 Jackpot. The following won €35 in the lucky dip draw: Carmel Quirke, Barrakilla, Kielduff, Ger McCarthy Lissanerla Abbeydorney and John Walsh, Glenoe, Listowel. The next draw will take place on Monday 11th May in Herbert's Bar with a 8,500 Jackpot.

KILFLYNN COMMUNITY TOGETHER
Would like to thank Laurence Costello, Clive Putman, Tom Walsh, Mick and Jack Brady for power washing the Bridge on Saturday 2nd May.
We are now looking for volunteers to help with painting starting on Saturday next May 9th at l0 am . "Many hands make light work" so fall in if you can.
Please bring along your own paint brushes, rollers, paint trays/ buckets etc .
Christina Hickey and Paul Sheehan are working very hard at the moment on the Hanging Baskets for the bridge along with preparing the flower bed areas for planting .

It is hoped to begin planting on Monday evening May 11th starting at 4 pm and remember "KILFLYNN" as a "COMMUNITY" we can do this "TOGETHER"

HURLING RESULTS
Hard luck to Crotta U-14 Hurlers who were defeated by Ballyheigue by 2-04 to 0-04 in the semi final of feile in Lixnaw on Saturday evening 2nd May. Ballyheigue led By 1-00 to 0-02 half time.
Tournafulla defeated Crotta by 2-15 to 3-09 in The Patrick O'Mahony Senior Hurling Tournament Final in Ballyheigue on Sunday 3rd May. Crotta had a 1-11 to 0-11victory over host's Ballyheigue in the semi-final on Saturday 2nd May.

KILFLYNN OLD CEMETERY
The Annual Church gate collection for the up keep of the Old Cemetery in Kilflynn village will take place on Sunday morning 10th May in St. Mary's Church, Kilflynn Your Support would be appreciated.

KILFLYNN ENCHANTED FAIRY FESTIVAL
This years Festival is taking place on Saturday 27th & Sunday 28th June and all the plans are at an advanced stage and there is great excitement around the village.

CHRISTY RING CUP
Well Done to the Kerry Senior hurlers who commenced their Christy Ring Cup campaign on Saturday 2nd May in Austin Stacks Park Tralee and had a comfortable 7 point win over Down in Round 1 of the 2015 competition, Kerry 2 – 17 Down 2 – 10 Kerry led by by 5 points at the break, Kerry 2 - 7 Down 1 – 5.
The Crotta Hurling club was represented by Sean Weir (Wing back) and Shane Nolan (Centre Forward) who scored 0-06. Kerry are play Meath in Austin Stack's Park, on Saturday 9th May. Best of luck to Sean and Shane and their Kerry team mates.

Denis Lynch Memorial Golf Scramble is on at Killorglin Golf Club on the 23rd of May. Please place your name on list that is on display in Parker's Pub. Teams of three will be published later.

CYCLING
The Local Crotta Cycling Group will continue their cycling trips on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Starting from Barry’s in Crotta at 6:30 p.m. All are welcomed even if you are a novice cyclist or have not cycled for a number of years. You can start with a few miles and progress from there. Crotta U-16 Hurlers booked their place in the Semi final of the County League Div 1 at the sportsfield, dromakee, Kilflynn with a 3-13 to 3-04 victory over Causeway on Thursday evening 23rd April. Crotta play Tralee Parnells on Thursday 7th May at 7.00 in the sportsfield, dromakee.
