EGG PAINTED/DECORATED COMPETITIONS
The painted and decorated egg competition being held at the Kilflynn vintage rally on Sunday 18th June. The basic rules are painted eggs should be painted using any colouring method, decorated eggs can have anything stuck on them. The competition is for primary school children only and they can enter both categories if they wish and as many eggs they want. The entry is free as long as they are accompanied by an adult to the vintage field. Entries will be accepted up to 3.15 on the day, any entries after 3.15 will not be accepted.

POC FADA
The Kerry Poc Fada competition will take place at Kerryhead Mountain on Monday, 5 June at 1.30pm.
The categories of competition are;
1. Senior hurling and under 16 hurling
2. Senior and under 16 camogie.
3. Veterans over 40.
Special guest taking part on the day will be Tipperary's Brendan Cummins. Brendan is a former All Ireland Poc Fada champion and 2 time senior hurling All Ireland winner.

TRADITIONAL MUSIC SESSION
There will be a Traditional Music Session and BBQ in Parker's Pub, Kilflynn on Sunday 4th June star at 6.00p.m (weather permitting the session will held in the Beer garden.) All musicians are welcome to join in with the regular musicians .

WELLINGTON THROWING COMPETITIONS
Ladies and Gents Wellington Throwing competitions which taking place in Kilflynn village, on Friday 16th June at 8.00 p.m. with trophies for the first, second and third in both Ladies and Gents categories. Competitors are required to hurl a Wellington Boot as far as possible within boundary lines, from a standing or running start. So come to Kilflynn and compete for the craic.

CROTTA U-08 HURLERS
The Crotta U8 hurlers took part in a blitz organised by the North Kerry Hurling board Saturday 27th May. For many this was the first chance to wear the famous green and red colours. Upwards Of 17 players togged out on the day which enabled us to field two teams. With great excitement the boys and girls played really well and had some good wins. Thanks to all parents for there time, Maurice Leahy for organising and to Causeway GAA for hosting. Next blitz is Saturday at 11 in Causeway.

The Round 1 draw for The Garvey's SuperValu Senior Hurling Championship 2017 was made on evening 29th May in The Kerry County Board Offices in Austin Stack’s Park by Kevin McCarthy from Sponsor Garvey's and Tim Murphy Chairman of Kerry County Committee. The draw is as follows:
Crotta v Kilmoyley, Causeway v Ardfert, Abbeydorney v Ballyduff and Lixnaw v Ballyheigue.

KERRY’S JOHN GRIFFIN
has announced his retirement from Senior Inter County hurling. Griffin was a member of the panel since 2003, playing in Divisions 1, 2 and 3 of the Allianz League, winning medals in the latter 2.He played in 5 Christy Ring Cup finals, winning twice. Griffin captained the Kingdom when they were victorious in 2015.He was an All-Star replacement in December 2015 and also had the honour of playing for his country in a number of shinty-hurling internationals against Scotland. Happy retirement John.

Congratulations to Sean O’Donoghue, Garrynagore who received the Agricultural Science Student of the Year Award for 2017 at the Awards Cermony in Tralee CBS (The Green) School last Wednesday. KERRY ARE MUNSTER CHAMPIONS
The Kerry Comogie team were crowned Munster Champions after a 1 point victory over Cork by 0-14 to 1.10 on Sunday 14th May in Killeedy near Newcastlewest . Congratulations to The girls & their management team, especially Crotta players Megan Weir, Aoife Behan (Capt) and Jackie Hogan, The Player of Match Award went to Patrice Diggin who scored 0-13, Bridget Stanley secretary of Munster presented the award to Patrice and Chairman John Foley presented Aoife Behan with the Munster Junior cup . The victorious Kerry team and their mentors received a warm welcomed in Kilflynn Village on Sunday night when they arrived with the Munster title.

KERRY SENIOR HURLERS
The Kerry Senior Hurlers interest in the Leinster Senior Hurling Championship, came to an end on Sunday 14th May at Austin Stack Park, Tralee, when they were defeated by LAOIS on a score of 2-21 3-15, Laois now qualified for a Leinster SHC quarter-final with Wexford. The Crotta Hurling was well represented by Sean Weir, Jordan Conway and Shane Nolan on the Kerry team, with Tomas O’Connor and Adrian Mahony were members of the panel.

MONSTER DRAW
On Friday 12th May, there was great excitement in St. Teresa’s National School, when the result of the School’s Monster Draw was announced.
Over the past few weeks, children, parents and all staff members made a huge effort to sell tickets for the school fundraiser. The amazing prize to be won was a €1,000 holiday voucher. The raffle raised a total of €9,130 and all monies raised will go towards the completion of the school’s building project.
The overall winners of the fantastic prize were Pat and Kay O’Connor, Curraheen, Tralee. The winning ticket was sold by 6th class pupil Mark Sheehan.

KILFLYNN COMMUNITY TOGETHER
hosted their annual family walk/cycle on Sunday 14th May last. The morning started off dry, but rain was threatening on the horizon. However, the weather didn't deter the Kilflynn families, who turned out in force. Thankfully the rain stayed away, and the walk/cycle was successfully completed. The refreshments provided at the end was welcomed by all that participated. Kilflynn Community Together would like to thank everyone that took part in the family walk/cycle. Your support is greatly appreciated. Thanks also to the organisers, stewards and volunteers, for without their dedication and help, these events would not take place. All proceeds will help fund future community projects, helping to make Kilflynn a better place for all.

HOLY WELL MASS
The Annual Mass was celebrated in Tobar Flainn, Kilflynn on Monday evening 1st May and was celebrated by Fr. Denis O’Mahony, Abbeydorney P.P. A nice sizeable crowd were in attendance, and the local Church choir once again provided the beautiful Hymns for occasion. Fr. O’Manony thanked those who worked behind the scenes to maintain the surrounds in such excellent conditions. . The Procession to the well which began at St. Mary’s Church, Kilflynn.

CELTIC CHALLENGE U-17 CUP
Kerry U-17 Hurlers defeated West Limerick by 3-14 0-13 in the Celtic Challenge U-17 Cup on Wednesday 10th May in Newcastlewest

KERRY MINOR FOOTBALLERS
The Kerry minor footballers booked their place in the Electric Ireland Munster Championship Final with a 2-17 to 1-10 victory over Cork in Páirc Uí Rinn on Wednesday May 10th. Well Done Kerry Footballers, especially Crotta Hurler Barry Mahony who had a good game at centrefield in the green and gold jersey. Kerry will now face Clare in the Munster Minor Final on Sunday 2nd July.The Kerry minors haven't been beaten since August 4th, 2013 – the performance on Wednesday evening, ranks right up there with any of their triumphs since then.

CROTTA U-16 HURLERS
Crotta U16’s contested the County League Division 1 final last Friday 12th May against Ballyheigue in very close, exciting, sporting game. The venue was Causeway and Ballyheigue came out on top on a score line of 3-11 to 3-08.

FAMILY FUN WALK/CYCLE
A call to all Moms and Dads, Nans and Grand-dads, Boys and Girls to come join with your community on Sunday next,14th of May, for a Family Fun Walk/cycle. The walk will start from the Village Car Park (in front of Maisys) at 10:30am and go along the fairy trail to the main road and back again with some fun surprises on route. The cyclists will depart at the same time on an alternative route and should be back in the village at around the same time as the walkers. You can register your family on the day for €10, or alternatively €2 per person. So come along and join in the fun. Light refreshments and entertainment will be provided afterwards. All monies raised go towards the ongoing projects being carried out by Kilflynn Community Together and your support is greatly appreciated. A DAY NOT TO BE MISSED ....

KILFLYNN FIRST COMMUNION
Congratulations to the 16 boys and girls from St. Teresa's National School, Kilflynn who received the sacrament of First communion in St Mary's Church, Kilflynn on Saturday 6th May. The celebrant at the edifying ceremony was Fr. Denis O’Mahony, Abbeydorney P.P.
It was a very well prepared ceremony. The children did themselves, their families and their school proud by the way they participated in the ceremony. The gratitude of all goes to their teacher Mrs Tina O'Connell, Mrs. Mary O' Carroll, Fr. Denis O‘Mahony, and their parents for all the work and effort they put into the ceremony and its preparation and who contributed to the First Communion Mass which will have a lasting memory for the 16 Children. A special word of thanks to John Kinsella, organist, who accompanied Mrs O Connell's after school choir. Their beautiful music and singing enriched the ceremony. Each child participated in some way in the ceremony.
The children who received their Communion were, Adam Corkery, Aidan Sheehan, Alex Relihan, Aoife Cronin, Cian O Connor, Donal McNamara, Emily Moloney, Isobel O Sullivan, Jack Brady, John O Donovan, Josh Greaney, Katelynn McElligott, Katie O Donoghue, Keira Fennell and Neil Galvin. To all involved we say 'Well done'. May the Lord bless them and their families.

ABBEYDORNEY/KILFLYNN COMMUNITY GAMES ATHLETICS
The Abbeydorney/Kilflynn Community Games Athletics will take place on Sunday 14th May at 2.30pm in Abbeydorney Gaa Field. Events for Boys and Girls U8 to U 16, also fun races. Parish Pastoral Council would like to invite all parishioners to join them for a Cup of Tea after the 6.00 p.m. Mass in Kilflynn on Saturday 13th May. All are welcome.
At their recent meeting, P.P.C. members discussed plans for parish celebrations linked with baptism of children and significant marriage anniversaries of parishioners. Further information will be given about these plans in the weeks ahead.

CROTTA U-16 HURLERS
The Crotta U16’s qualified for the Lee Strand Milk County League Division 1 Final on a score 4-08 to 0-08 defeating Ballyduff in a tough match played in Abbeydorney on Tuesday evening 2nd May.
Crotta led by 3-05 to 0-04 at half time
They now meet Ballyheigue this Friday 12th with the time and venue TBC.

KERRY ARE MUNSTER U-14 CHAMPIONS
Congratulations to Ada Relihan, Cappa, Kilflynn and her Kerry U-14 team mates who were crowned Munster u14 A Football champions 2017, when they had a 1-12 to 1-08 victory over Cork in glorious sunshine on Sunday 7th May at Mallow, Cork . Ada plays her football with Abbeydorney Ladies Football Club. Kerry led by 0-07 to 0-05 at the interval break.

AMY WIN THE CAMOGIE SKILLSTAR COUNTY TITLE
Congratulations and well done to Amy O’Sullivan, Crotta , Cross who retained her County U14 Camogie Skillstar title at the Kilmoyley GAA Pitch, Lerrig on Sunday, 7th May, Amy will now go on to represent the county in the National Camogie Skillstar at the National Games Development Centre in Abbotstown on Saturday 10th June. CROTTA FIELD UPDATE
A massive thank you to the Crotta Hurling Club Members and members of the local community that came out the weekend and erected the poles to hang the nets and fix lights off for the new training area. We also started erecting the new fencing that will be put in place on the far back boundary. Great progress on our field development happening.

DARTS
The winners of the weekly doubles darts tournament in Parker's lounge bar on Saturday 29th April were J.P Twomey and Mike Fealy who defeated John Byrne and Paud Twomey in the final. 18 dart players participated. The winners received a leg of Lamb each. The next darts doubles tournament takes place on Saturday night 6th May at 10.30p.m in Parker's Lounge Bar.The winners will received a leg of Lamb each. Names MUST be in for 10.15 p.m. NO Names after this Time. First game of the Tournament must start at 10.30p.m.

SENIOR HURLING LEAGUE
In the Credit Union Co. Hurling League Division 1, the remaining Round 2 game between Ballyheigue v Crotta goes ahead on this Friday, 5th May at Ballyheigue, 7.30p.m. Round 3 is scheduled for this Sunday, 7th May, 2.00p.m. with Crotta play Causeway.

KILFLYNN COMMUNITY TOGETHER
The Kilflynn Community Together held their Annual General Meeting for the 2017-2018 year on Thursday 6th of April in St. Columbus Centre Kilflynn. The 2017/2018 committee were ratified on the night and following the AGM the first committee meeting elected the officers.

The AGM summarised the previous year’s successful events which included a family fun walk, a children’s Halloween party with the introduction of a scary Halloween trail for older children and adults, a children’s Christmas disco, cleanup of the community field, and the centennial commemoration.
Ideas for future events were discussed, such as a family walk/cycle morning entry in the Tidy Towns competition and a wide range of other topics deemed beneficial to the community. Volunteers needed to help with tidy-up of Kilflynn cross at 7pm on Thursday 4th May.

KERRY SENIOR HURLERS
The Kerry Senior hurlers got back to winning ways last Sunday 30th April with a 0-20 to 2-12 win over Westmeath at Mullingar in round 2 of the Leinster Senior Championship round robin series and to record their first ever Leinster championship victory away from home.
Well done to all involved. The Crotta Hurling Club was represented on the Kerry team by Sean Weir cornerback , Jordan Conway wing forward 0-02, Shane Nolan (Corner Forward) 0-7 (0-4f, 0-1 ’65) , while Tomas O’Conor was on the panel
This sets up a crucial round 3 clash with Laois at Austin Stack Park on Sunday week, 14th May, 3pm.

CROTTA LOTTO RESULTS
The Four numbers drawn out of the drum by the Independent observer, Betty Falvey, Garrynagore, Lixnaw on Monday Night 1st May in Parker's Pub , Kilflynn were 19,21, 24 and 25. CELTIC CHALLENGE
The Under 17 Celtic Challenge County & Divisional hurling competition commences on this Wednesday, 3rd May when Kerry will play Limerick City at Austin Stack Park, 7.30p.m. This competition is aimed at players aged 16 and 17 years old who are not participating in State Examinations during May and June, Fixtures information on www.gaa.ie Kerry will play in Group B, competing with Clare South/East, North Cork, West Limerick, Limerick City and West Cork. The Crotta Hurling Club is represented by Darragh O’Donoghue, Eamon Rohan and Micheal Kennedy on the Kerry panel with Paul O’Donoghue a selector. We wish the Kerry players and mentors all the best.

40th ANNIVERSARY
The outstanding achievement of the hurlers of Causeway Comprehensive School in winning both the Munster & All Ireland “B” Colleges Hurling Championships in 1977 is always rightly recalled as a most significant milestone in the history of hurling in Kerry. With the 40th Anniversary of these great victories approaching a Celebration Committee was formed in December 2016. A day of celebrations will get underway at 12.00noon on Saturday May 6th when a golf scramble will be played at Ballyheigue Castle Golf Club. Players, mentors & invited guests will assemble at McHale's at 6.00pm sharp for a pre-dinner chat and some photographs. The Reunion Dinner will take place at 7.30pm and will include presentations to all 26 players and the team mentors involved at the time who are all alive & well 40 years on. To finish off proceedings dancing will get underway at approx 10.30pm and all past pupils of Causeway Comprehensive School are invited to come along and reminise on their school days and catch up with friends thay may not have met up with for a number of years.
