CUMANN NA BUNSCOL FOOTBALL FINAL
Unfortunately Kilflynn NS were beaten in the Final of Cuman na mBunscoil 4/5 teacher Schools Football Final last Monday evening 14th November under lights at Austin Stack
Park. It was a magnificent occasion to be involved in and the lads made the School, their Families and the local Community proud. Kilflynn had played some great football in the competition and it was heartbreaking to lose in the circumstances. Kilflynn settled well
with the breeze at their backs and inside the first minute had a goal from midfielder Darragh O'Donoghue. Their next score was a point from a Barry Mahony free in the ninth minute which was a poor return, as in this time they had the lions share of possession. Barry Mahony did point from play in the 10th minute but Scartiglin replied with a point
of their own in the 13th minute. Kilflynn hit a number of wides in succession before three more Mahony points(two from frees) gave Kilflynn a seven point lead. Ryan Ward, Darragh O'Donoghue and James Sheehan were really to the fore at this stage. Just before the break Scartiglin struck for a goal when a goal bound shot deflected off a Kilflynn player and ended up in the Kilflynn net. Half Time score: Kilflynn 1-05 Scartiglin 1-01. After such a little return when aided by the breeze, it was now an uphill task for the Kilflynn lads. Within two minutes Scartiglin had wiped out the lead and then went two points clear. Kilflynn then rose to the challenge and this came about as Barry Mahony thundered into the match. Following a strong run through the Scartiglin defence in the 36th minute he hit a shot towards the Scartiglin goals. Darragh O'Donoghue added to it with his fist and deflected it beyond the Scartliglin keeper. A fine point by Sean
Murnane then gave Kilflynn a two point lead. Then came the turning point of the match when a Darragh O'Donoghue shot looked to be clawed back from behind the line by the keeper. The referee waved play on and further up the field Scartiglin were awarded a line ball. This was lobbed in towards goal and a mix up on the line between two Kilflynn
players resulted in a Scartiglin goal. From the kick out Scartiglin scored another goal to put them 4 points to the good. However Kilflynn did not lie down and following great movement by Jeaic McKenna and Barry Mahony to turn defence into attack, Darragh O'Donoghue scored his and Kilflynn's third goal. Try as they might Kilflynn could not
equalise and on a beak away Scartliglin insured victory with a point from play. Final score: Kilflynn NS 3-06 Scartiglin 5-02. Scorers: Darragh O'Donoghue(3-00)Barry Mahony(0-05)Sean Murnane(0-01). Well done to all concerned and the Kilflynn lads received lovely medals to mark the occasion. Kilflynn Panel: Darragh Clark, Aodhan McKenna, Ryan Ward (Capt), Eamon Rohan, James Sheehan, Jeaic McKennan, Darragh O’Donoghue, Adam O’Sullivan, Barry Mahony, Daniel O’Rourke, Sean Murnane, Darragh Murnane, Ryan Murphy, Jack Kevin McKenna, Daniel Quirke, Edith White, Kate McKenna, Declan O’Donoghue and Parker McLemore. Thanks to all involved with the team and to Mrs O'Carroll, Kilflynn School Principal and Mrs McCarthy for making the School available for an after match get together for Players and Families. It was much appreciated.

Victorious Crotta U-13 Captain, Brandon Conway, accepts the Eddie Hayes Memorial Cup on behalf of his team from Crotta Coiste na nOg Secretary, Plunkett McElhatton, in Abbeydorney, on Saturday 12th November ,after Crotta defeated Abbeydorney by 3-02 to 1-01 in the Crotta Ground Hurling U-13 Tournament Final Photo: Mike Parker

EDDIE HAYES GROUND HURLING TOURNAMENT
Crotta U13 team captured the Eddie Hayes memorial Cup on Saturday 12th November at Abbeydorney Sportsfield for only the second time in the history of the competition which started in 2000. Current star Shane Nolan was the captain in 2002 and nine years later his cousin Brandon Conway lifted the trophy amid jubilant scenes. Chairman of Crotta Coiste na nOg Sonny Egan deserves great credit for the immense work he put in last week leading up to the event, in organising every aspect of the tournament. The Abbeydorney Hurling Club deserve a special mention for hosting the event at short notice, and how ironic that they almost upset the odds in the final but Crotta's greater experience at the crucial point midway through the second half saw them hold out for a deserved victory.
The day started with the draw and six teams were entered in the hat. Ballyheigue, Crotta and Lixnaw were in Group A and Kilmoyley, Abbeydorney and Ardfert were in Group B. Ballyduff, Causeway, Na Gaeil, Kilgarvan and Dr Crokes were also invited but none of these teams were able to make it on the day. Lixnaw and Crotta accounted for Ballyheigue in their first Group games with Shane Conway scorer in chief for Lixnaw and Sean O'Donoghue top scorer for Crotta. This set up a top of the table clash between these two teams which in effect was a semi-final.
In Group B Abbeydorney drew with Ardfert and beat Kilmoyley by eight points. This meant that in the final Group game Ardfert would have to beat Kilmoyley by more than eight points to go through to the final. One thing about this competition which is a lift and strike competition with only the Goalie able to catch the ball, is that it is a great leveller between teams and the more skillful players will emerge. Ardfert could only beat Kilmoyley by two points so Abbeydorney topped Group B. Before the Crotta\Lixnaw match both teams and mentors stood in the middle of the field and Sonny Egan on behalf of the Crotta Club spoke a few words. Sonny said that the Crotta Club would like to remember the late Maggie Conway R.I.P. He spoke a few words about Maggie and both teams and mentors observed a minute silence. Tim Hanafin(Ardfert) got the game underway and this was a titanic battle with no quarter asked or given. Crotta started the brighter but truthfully both teams had chances to take the lead. Darragh Kennelly opened the scoring five mins before half time when he pointed a 65. Chance after chance came and went. Just before half time a shot by Sean O'Donoghue which looked to be on its way to the Lixnaw net was deflected for a 65. Darragh Kennelly stepped up again and this time a mix up between the Lixnaw keeper and full back resulted in the ball travelling all the way to the net. Half time Crotta 1-01 Lixnaw 0-00. Straight from the restart Lixnaw laid seige to the Crotta goals but every Crotta player gave their all to keep them out. Brandon Conway pulled off save after save and Darragh Kennelly was outstanding. Tom Quinlan in midfield, Colin Browne on the forty were working so hard and Sean O'Donoghue in the full line was showing great skill. Following a wild pull on O'Donoghue a free was awarded to Crotta. Darragh Kennelly pointed this to leave Crotta five in front. With two mins left Lixnaw's Colin Sheehy showed great skill in scoring a fine goal. Shane Conway then breached the Crotta defence but a last ditch tackle from Tom Quinlan saved the day. Sean O'Donoghue had the last say in the match when he pointed a 30m sideline. Final Score Crotta 1-03 Lixnaw 1-00.
The final against Abbeydorney was 15mins a half and Crotta immediately set about the task in hand. A Sean O'Donoghue strike hit the post and Colin Browne scored the rebound to put Crotta a goal up. Colin Browne also got the second goal following a brillant run through the Abbeydorney defence. Half time Crotta 2-00 Abbeydorney 0-00. Crotta tired at the beginning of the second half which was to be expected after their tremendous battle with Lixnaw, plus they had only one sub due to the Kilflynn NS players being unable to play. Abbeydorney scored a goal and a point which left two between the teams. Crotta seemed to get a second wind at this stage and Darragh Kennelly pointed a free following a foul on Sean O'Donoghue. Crotta then lost Kennelly due to a hand injury and Abbeydorney once again took over. A brave piece of goalkeeping from Brandon Conway stopped a certain goal and from his clearance Sean O'Donoghue was fouled. O'Donoghue took the free and his shot was added to by Aaron Murnane. This touch deceived Sean Holden, the Abbeydorney goalie and ended in the net. Sean O'Donoghue wrapped up the scoring with a good point from play. Tony McCarthy(Lixnaw) blew the final whistle after the puck out and Crotta had bridged a nine year gap to claim their second Eddie Hayes win. Crotta 3-02 Abbeydorney 1-01. Brandon Conway, Captain, accepted the Trophy on behalf of the team from Plunkett McElhatton, Secretary of Crotta O Neills. In his acceptance speech Brandon thanked the Abbeydorney Club for the use of their field and having everything ready on the day. He thanked the trainers of the U13 squad and all who helped on the day. Abbeydorney U13 team also received medals for reaching the final. Paul O'Donoghue, Denis Mahony and Plunkett McElhatton were mentors on the day. Padraig Cronin and Jerome O'Sullivan also help with this team but were unable to be there due to work commitments. Thanks to Dylan McElligott who made a great effort to be there even though he had sustained a bad hand injury on Friday. He came on in the final near the end. we wish him a speedy recovery. Thanks to Annette Nolan, Sarah Nolan and Eleanor Quilter for helping with food and tea/coffee on the day. Thanks to Abbeydorney GAA club especially Frank Egan and Ger Maunsell. Thanks to all teams who made the effort to be there and also thanks to our two referees on the day. A special word of thanks to the Hayes Family,Glenballyma, Kilflynn who sponsored this trophy in memory of their late father Eddie R.I.P. The following is the panel of players who won the trophy: Brandon Conway(Captain) Darragh Kennelly Brian O'Connell Sean Cremin Dominic Nolan Tom Quinlan Padraig Dillon Colin Browne John Quilter Sean O'Donoghue Aaron Murnane and Dylan McElligott.

Congratulations to the St Senans U13 team
They won the final of the TommyMadden U13 North Kerry Championship 2011. St Senans beat a strong Bealeteam by 2-11 to 1-5. A tough game was expected from the outset and it wasno surprise that Beale started the game strongly and led by 1-3 to 0-4 at half time. The second half proved an altogether different affair with Senans starting the half strongly with some early points and a goal from Cathal Kennelly. Once Senans went into the lead they never looked back and looked to hammer home their advantage. Beale did their best to get back into the game but through excellant goalkeeping and defending they were never given the chance. A further goal from Brandon Conway sealed the victory. Congratulations to all the players on a well earned victory. Thank you to all the parents and supporters who have been behind the team throughout the year. A special thank you to the Madden family and Ballydonoughue GAA Club. The winning trophy was lifted by captain Jack Hennessy with Cathal Kennelly taking home the man of the match award.

Tom Lynch ( 21 ) won the Front Nine with 19 pts . , while Mick Fuller (21 ) won the Back Nine with 18 pts . and Noreen McAuliffe won the Special Prize . Gary Hogan was second while Brendan Keane was third in this competition .
The presentation of prizes was hosted by The Railway Bar where a large attendance enjoyed the food and the banter . KILFLYNN N.S FOOTBALL
Kilflynn NS played Castlegregory NS in the quarter final of Cumann na mBunscoil 3/4 teachers school competition. The match was played in Na Gaeil pitch in Tralee on Wednesday 13th of October. This was new territory for Kilflynn as they had not got this far in the competition before. After the first half following goals by Adam O'Sullivan, Barry Mahony and Sean Murnane Kilflynn led on a scoreline of Kilflynn 3-02 Castlegregory 1-06. It was a tremendous first half and the play flowed from end to end. Following a really competitive second half in which both sides gave it their all Castlegregory could not bridge the half time lead held by Kilflynn. Castlegregory scored two points in that second half but these were cancelled out by a Barry Mahony free and another Sean Murnane point. Daniel O'Rourke scored a beautiful point off his left leg before Darragh O'Donoghue with a goal and a point made sure of Kilflynn's passage to the final. Final Score: Kilflynn 4-06 Castlegregory 1-08. Scorers Sean Murnane(1-02) Barry Mahony (1-02) Darragh O'Donoghue(1-01) Adam O'Sullivan(1-00) and Daniel O'Rourke(0-01).
The Kilflynn NS Football team played Kilgarvan in the semi final of Cumann na mBunscoil on Wednesday 20th October 2011. Kilgarvan were one of the favourites for the competition but Kilflynn's winning run continued and at the end of a rip roaring contest Kilflynn booked their place in the final on a scoreline of Kilflynn 3-05 Kilgarvan 1-08. Two first half goals by Barry Mahony and points by Jeaic McKenna(2) and Darragh O'Donoghue gave Kilflynn a two point lead at half time. Some stout defending by the backs, midfield and goalkeeper plus a large slice of luck meant Kilflynn stayed on top throughout the second period in that first half. Barry Mahony was deployed in the full back line for the second half and this move stifled Kilgarvan. He was missed in the forwards and only Daniel O'Rourke of the forward quartet got any change out of a strong Kilgarvan rearguard. Jeaic McKenna and Darragh O'Donoghue were playing out of their skins covering a lot of ground and putting tackle after tackle in, all over the field. Barry Mahony cleared the lines time and again and he was helped by James Sheehan who was outstanding. Ryan Ward, Eamon Rohan and keeper Darragh Clark also played very well. The crucial score of that second half was a superb Daniel O'Rourke goal. Final Score Kilflynn 3-05 Kilgarvan 1-08. Panel as follows: Darragh Clark Ryan Ward Eamon Rohan James Sheehan Aodhan McKenna Darragh O'Donoghue Jeaic McKenna Barry Mahony Sean Murnane Adam O'Sullivan Daniel O'Rourke Darragh Murnane Jack Kevin McKenna Declan O'Donoghue Ryan Murphy Edith White Kate McKenna and Parker Sutton McLemore
