KILFLYNN COMMUNITY CLEAN UP 
Due to the Orange Weather warning given down for Co. Kerry on Saturday 21st October, the Kilflynn Community Clean-up day was postponed until Saturday 4th of November from 10am to 12 noon. Tell your friends, and neighbours. Bring the children. Bags and pickers will be provided. Let's keep our village and surrounding areas clean. Great for the environment and our wildlife.

The Toddler Group meet  from 10.30am until 12 noon in St Columba’s Community Centre, Kilflynn every Thursday. All new babies, toddlers, parents, grandparents and childminders welcome.

Crotta Hurling Club  are having a clothes collection on 28th October.   If you have unwanted, clean clothes, shoes, bags, belts, sheets, towels (no duvets or pillows)  please drop in bags to Crotta GAA pitch.  Please contact Club officers to arrange collection.

The winners of the weekly doubles darts tournament in Parker's Bar  on Saturday 21st October  were Paddy Weir  and Greg Leahy who defeated John Leahy and Eileen Brennan  in the final. 10 dart players participated. The winners received some Certified Irish Angus Beef each.

TOM HEALY U-15 HURLING TOURNAMENT
Crotta U15’s took part in the Tom Healy Memorial Hurling Tournament on Friday evening 13th October in Abbeydorney. The lads had games against Kilmoyley, Knockaderry/ Monagea (Limerick), Ballyduff and Lixnaw. There was some fine Hurling on display and great effort shown by the lads but unfortunately result on the night didn’t go our way. Well done to all players and mentors. Thanks to all the officials and the hosts Abbeydorney GAA for a well organized event and for having the pitch in tremendous condition despite all the rain.

BEST OF LUCK ROBERT IN WINNING STREAK
Local viewers of RTE’s popular Saturday night game show, Winning Streak, will recognise a few familiar faces in this Saturday night 14th October audience when Robert Brennan, Rea, Kilflynn takes his place as a contestant on the show.
Robert was one of the five lucky contestants to be drawn out of the hat on last week's edition of the RTE 1 programme, hosted by Marty Whelan and Sinead Kennedy, and will make his television debut on Saturday next at 7.30p.m
Excitement is building in the area ahead of the show with the best of luck and messages of support being sent to Robert from people far and near during the week in the lead-up to his appearance at studios in Montrose.
Robert of Brennan’s Licensed Hauliers along with family and friends will join hosts Marty Whelan and Sinead Kennedy in RTE studios on Saturday night wherepresenters Marty and Sinead will guide five players through the iconic show, which gives them the chance to win cash, cars and luxury holidays. One will get the once-in-a-lifetime chance to spin the Grand Prize Wheel with a maximum prize of €500,000.

MASS CELEBRATING SPECIAL WEDDING ANNIVERSARIES
 will take place in St. Bernard’s Church, Abbeydorney on Sunday 15th October at 10.00 a.m.  All couples in the parish celebrating significant anniversaries this year (1st, 5th, 10th, 15th, 20th, 25th, 30th, 35th, 40th, 45th, 50th and every year over 50), should submit their names and the wedding date to the Parish Office before 1st October. (This can be done during office hours or after 10.00 a.m. Mass on Sunday 17th & Sunday 24th September).  Couples, living outside the parish, who got married in Abbeydorney or Kilflynn Church, are also invited to this celebration.

MINOR FOOTBALL ALL STARS
Congratulations to Barry Mahony , Crotta who was one of the eight players that guided Kerry to this year’s stunning All-Ireland final win were back in Croke Park on Saturday afternoon 7th October to be honoured for making the Electric Ireland GAA Minor Team of the Year.
The Electric Ireland GAA Minor Stars Football and Hurling teams were honoured in the Players lounge in Croke Park and The outstanding Barry Mahony, St Senans was named at midfield  on the Football team. David Clifford, was also named as Electric Ireland Minor Star Footballer of the Year. The eight Kerry players honoured were: Deividas Uosis (Dingle), Cian Gammell (Killarney Legion), Michael Potts (Dr Crokes), Niall Donohue (Firies), Barry Mahony  (St Senans), David Clifford (Fossa), Donal O’Sullivan (Kilgarvan) and Fiáchra Clifford (Laune Rangers),
Kerry legend Jack O’Connor was also honoured with the Minor Star Special Merit Award, presented to him by Mícheál Ó’Muircheartaigh, for his significant contribution to Minor football in Kerry

WEDDING BELLS
Heartiest congratulations and best wishes to Mary Mahony daughter of Tom and late Maura Mahony, Tullig, Kilflynn and J.J Kelliher son of Mags and John Joe Kelliher, Banemore, Listowel, who were married in St. Michael’s Church, Lixnaw, on Saturday 30th September. Fr Maurice Brick officiated at the beautiful ceremony. The Bestman was Anthony Keane and groomsman was Richard Kelliher. (Brother of the groom) Bridesmaids were Nicola Bowler with Claire McElligott. Flowergirl was Keeva Mahony. And Pageboy was Jack Mahony. A large crowd of family and friends attended the wedding ceremony and afterwards the wedding reception, which was held in Ballygarry House Hotel and Spa, Tralee, and the couple will reside in Tullig, Kilflynn. A great day and night, was had by all in attendance. We wish Mary and J.J many happy years of married life together.

In the County Minor Semi-Finals played in Austin Stacks Park on Saturday 30th September,  Abbeydorney/ Parnells had a 2-12 to 1-12 over Causeway, while title holders Crotta had a  4-15 to 3-9 victory over a gallant St Brendan’s side.  Crotta led by 3-8 to 0-2 at the interval break.On Sunday 8th October at 1pm Crotta will play  in Abbeydorney/Parnells in Austin Stack Park, Tralee in the curtain raiser to the Garveys SuperValu Kerry senior hurling championship Final between Ballyduff and Lixnaw.
 Best of luck to the lads in green and red and their mentors of Brendan Mahony , Paul O’Donoghue, John Edwards, Shane Nolan and Tomás O'Connor who are Seeking a second County minor crown in a row.

ACTIVE RETIRED GROUP 
An outing for the Abbeydorney Active Retired Group will take place on Wednesday 4th October 2017 to The Listowel Arms Hotel. The coach will leave the community centre at 1.00pm sharp. Transport can be arranged for anyone requiring it. Please contact 7135831.

U-16 HURLERS
The Crotta U-16 Hurlers had two games in the North Kerry Hurling U-16 Championship , the first game game they travelled to Ballyduff on Sunday 24th September to take on the homeside, and had a victory on the score of Crotta Gaa 4-12 To Ballyduff 3-11,  Half time Crotta 2-06 To Ballyduff 0-07.
On Tuesday 26th September inSt. Senan's Sports field, Mountcoal Crotta had a 1-17 to 3-07 victory over Ballyheigue,  Half Time Crotta Gaa 0-08 to Ballyheigue 1-05.  Well done lads.

TRADITIONAL MUSIC SESSION
There will a traditional music session in Parkers Pub this Sunday 8th October commencing at 6.30. All musicians welcome to join in the monthly SESSION.

COUNTY U-21 CHAMPIONSHIP DRAW
The Draw for the Acorn Life Under 21 Hurling Championship was made live on Kerry GAA TV on Thursday evening 28th September and resulted in the following pairings:

TODDLER GROUP KILFLYNN
The Toddler Group recommence on Thursday14th of September. It will run from 10.30amuntil 12pm in St Columba’s Community Centre, Kilflynn every Thursday. All new babies, toddlers, parents, grandparents and childminders welcome.

CROTTA LOTTO RESULTS
The Four numbers drawn out of the drum by the Independent observer,  Gerry Whelan, Waterford and Causeway   on Monday Night 2nd October   in  Parker's Pub , Kilflynn, were 6,10,16 and 19. There was No winner of €2,600 Jackpot. The following won €35 in the lucky dip draw: Ray Galvin, Ballyrehan, Lixnaw, Helen O’Grady, Lixnaw and Pat McGrath, Upper Tullig, Kilflynn. The next draw will take place in Herbert’s Bar, Kilflynn on Monday 9th  October  with a 2,700 Jackpot. DARTS
The winners of the weekly doubles darts tournament in Parker's Bar  on Saturday30th September  were Declan Falvey  and Paddy Weir who defeated Paud Twomey  and Micheal O'Sullivan   in the final. 10 dart players participated. The winners received some Certified Irish Angus Beef each.
The next darts doubles tournament takes place on Saturday night 7th October at 10.30p.m in Parker's Lounge  Bar. The winners will received some Certified Irish Angus Beef each. Names MUST be in for 10.15 p.m. NO Names after this Time. First game of the Tournament must start at 10.30p.m.

TIME TABLE FOR ST.COLUMBAS CENTRE
The Kilflynn Toddler group commenced on the Thursday 14th September from 10:30am to 12 noon, and willl meet up every Thursday thereafter, excluding school holidays.
Brownies are back since Thursday 21st September from 7pm to 8:30pm and every Thursday thereafter excluding school holidays.
The Story Frog Maria is back on Saturday 23rd September from 11:30am to 12:30pm.  Booking is advisable.
Sheena Sexton Boot Camp takes place on Monday and Wednesday nights from 7:15pm to 8:15pm.  All fitness levels are welcome. 
Ladybirds are resuming on Thursday 5th October between 6pm and 7pm and every Thursday thereafter excluding school holidays.
Tae-Kwon-do classes with Instructor Mike Murphy takes place every Saturday from 4pm.
