CROTTA COISTE NA NOG
U10 Well done to our U10 hurlers who made the trip to Kileedy on Saturday 24th September and did so well in the Munster Blitz. They played Cloony/Quinn of Clare two times(once in 9- a side and once in 15-a side and beat them both times. They also played the hosts Kileeedy and Fehonagh and won these matches. This was great experience for all the lads and all played their part. The panel was as follows: Cillian Trant, Aodhan Behan, David O'Connell, Daniel O'Rourke, Jack Kevin McKenna, Tadgh McKenna, Daniel Hunt, Sean Murnane, Darragh Murnane, Timmy Dillon, Tomas Dillon, Aodhan McKenna, Denis Quille, Denis Nolan and Ryan Murphy. Well done to team mentors Tom Nolan, Paddy Murnane and Mike McKenna. Thanks also to Maura O'Connell and Tim O’Rourke who helped on the day. This is an initative by the Munster Council and we thank Maurice Leahy and Donal Daly for inviting Crotta. Thanks also to Daughton's for making sure all travelled to and from event and to Primms Restaurant for food for the team.
U12 The U12 team continued their winning ways when recording a ten point win against Abbeydorney last Tuesday evening in Dromakee. Leading by four points at half time they tacked on six points after the break without reply. Final score: Crotta 1-10 Abbeydorney 1-00. Team Donal Hunt Brian O'Connell James Sheehan Barry Mahony(0-02)Darragh Murnane Adam O'Sullivan(0-02) Jeaic McKenna(0-01)Aaron Murnane Darragh O'Donoghue (0-03) Dominic Nolan (0-01) and Sean Murnane(1-01).
U14 Our U14 team contested the NK Championship 'A' Final in Lerrig last Thursday evening against Causeway and following an outstanding contest the sides could not be separated and so will have to meet again. Crotta trailed at half time by four points. Crotta 2-01 Causeway 3-02. Crotta now had the strong wind to their backs and even though Causeway took control after the break and stretched their lead to six points, Crotta fought back with goals from Raymond Nolan and Darragh Regan to draw level. A goal by Colin Browne gave Crotta the lead with ten mins left but this was cancelled out with five mins remaining. A bit of combination play by Barry Mahony(who was outstanding throughout), Sean O'Donoghue and Raymond Nolan saw the latter being fouled and Darragh Regan kept his nerve once again to put Crotta in front. A minute was left on the clock when the ball was pucked out and as the Crotta backs attempted to clear the referee blew for a free to Causeway straight in front of the posts. He seemed to indicate a thrown ball and the Causeway player put the resultant free over the bar. A tremendous contest was brought to a close following the puckout so the sides will have to meet again. Scorers for Crotta: Raymond Nolan (2-00) Darragh Regan (1-01) Jordan Conway (1-01) Colin Browne (1-00) David Behan(0-01)
