UNDER 10 HURLERS
The curtain came down on the under 10 hurling year on Saturday last in an under 10 blitz in Duagh. Crotta were drawn in a group that contained Duagh, Ballyduff and Ballyheigue.
We played Duagh in our first game and defeated the hosts by one goal.
Our next game saw us face the second best team in the county at under 10 level. Ballyduff were a much physically stronger team but in true Crotta tradition we gave as good as we got. The scores were level at half time but we eventually succumbed to two second half goals.
Our third game saw us go to two goals down but we again rallied to level with the last puck of the game, which was a free by Thomas McElligott.
David O'Regan presented a trophy to the team from Duagh Hurling Club in acknowledgement of Crotta's performance over the three games.
The following panel of players played over the three games:
Sean O'Donoghue, Brandon Conway, Adrian Mahony, Patrick Fahy, Ciaran Flanagan, Sean Gleasure, Thomas McElligott, Jordan Conway, Raymond Nolan, James O'Sullivan, Jamie Mullins, Sarah Browne, Adam O'Sullivan, Barry Mahoney, Jack McKenna, Muireann McKenna, Mark Egan, Dominic Nolan, Dylan McElligott.
A special word of thanks to Duagh Hurling Club for inviting us to take part and their hospitality on the day. We wish David O'Regan continued success in his drive to promote hurling in Duagh. Thanks as well to all parents who travelled on Saturday and to the parents of all players on the panel who have been so supportive in the past year. We look forward to working with you for the new hurling year. Indoors hurling will start again in the Lixnaw Community Centre and all parents will be notified when a start date has been decided.

SCHOOL OF EXCELLENCE
As part of the county board initiative to promote hurling a hurling camp was held in Dromakee on August 21st. Over thirty children attended from six years to twelve years of age. The day was a tremendous success and all players enjoyed their day. The club would like to thank Michael Lucid and Shane Brick for their excellence coaching on the day and the county board for this initiative. It would be great if more time was allocated to this type of venture to enhance existing skills and build new skills for players of all ages.
