CEMETERY MASS:
There was a large attendance at St Mary's Annual Cemetery Mass, Kilflynn on Tuesday July 7th. Many of those gathered there had spent many hours cleaning up the graves and decorating them with flowers and wreaths. Excellent weather for the evening helped to turn it into a wonderful event. Mass was celebrated by Fr Jack Fitzgerald, and Fr. Pat O'Donnell. Fr. Fitzgerald welcomed all that attended and thanked all that helped out. He also thanked the people who had worked so hard to make their relative's graves look so well on the day. Readers at the Mass were Helen Fuller and Patricia Mc Elligott while the Church choir completed the evening with their wonderful singing.

MINORS:
The Crotta Minors hurlers had a busy weekend as they bid for a place in the North Kerry div 2 Final. It all kicked off on Thursday evening in Dromakee where Ballyduff provided the opposition. The game was played in near perfect conditions in front of a big home crowd. The lack of competitive matches was evident as players were struggling early on and Crotta were six points down at half time. However Crotta rose to the Challenge in the second half and took the game to Ballyduff and with some fine performances by Paul Costello, Philip Twomey, Jonathan Caffrey, Matt Lynch, Alan Leen and Super sub Keith Hannafin , ran out convincing winners on the 3-09 to 3-04 score line. Crotta team and Scorers: Aaron Sheehan, Philip Twomey, Jonathan Caffrey, Alan Leen, Paul Costello, Darren Twomey (0-02), David Galvin, Matt Lynch (2-03), Luke Sheehan, Richard Nolan 0-01, David Moloney (0-03). Sub Keith Hannafin (1-00), for R.Nolan, Paul Lenihan and Luke Ward.
After the win over Ballyduff the minors travelled to Abbeydorney on Sunday morning for crunch match which would decide who contest the final. Crotta got off to a flying start and were ahead at the break on the 1-03 to 0-01 scoreline. However Abbeydorney battled hard and put up a brave challenge in the second half and with the Crotta players having played on Thursday tiredness set in, and Abbeydorney just shaded it on the final score board Abbeydorney 1-08 Crotta 1-06. Crotta team and Scorers: Richard Nolan, Jonathan Caffrey, Alan Leen, Darren Twomey (0-01), Paul Costello, David Galvin, Philip Twomey (1-00), Luke Sheehan, David Moloney and Matt Lynch (0-05).

RING OF KERRY CYCLE
Congratulations to all the locals who took part in the Annual Ring of Kerry Charity Cycle of 112 miles which took place last Saturday. Weather conditions were probably the worst in the 22 year history of the race with the cyclists having to endure 50 mile an hour head winds and driving rain for a long part of the journey. Those that took part were Graham Harris, Michael Barry, Helen Fuller, Austin Brosnan, Ray Brosnan, Kathleen Costello, Bobs Barry, Kathleen Lynch, Dan McCarthy, Danny Murphy, Maura Leen, Cyril Lynch, Joanna Barry, Derek Bones, Joe O'Connor and Marek Ustrzycki. They are still collecting funds for Enable Ireland and Kerry Diabetes so we would ask you to contribute generously to these very worthy causes, to any of the cyclists after their tremendous efforts, or to the writer of these notes who will pass on same.

VINTAGE TRACTOR RUN
On a lovely Sunny June morning, Twenty-eight Vintage Tractors assemble at Kilflynn village for the inaugural Kilflynn Vintage Tractor run on Sunday 19 th June. The well organised 20 mile run started in Kilflynn Village passing though Glenballyma, Tullig, Kilfeighney, Clandouglas, Lishane, Dromclough,
There stop in Mc Carthy's Bar, Finuge, to quench the thirst, before returning to base passing Bealcella, Ballyrehan, Crotta, Dromakee, Castletown along the way arriving back in Kilflynn village just in time to watch the Munster Senior football semi final between Limerick and Kerry on T.V in Parker's Bar. As they drove along their way, along country roads, they were greeted enthusiastically by other road-users and sightseers.
The Vintage Tractors looked splendid, the effort, that goes into these machines is simply amazing, paint-work shining and working parts not just working but purring like a Jaguar, only louder.
Over €3,500 was raised for the Alzheimer's Society of Ireland North Kerry Branch. So there is more to
This than just a bunch of vintage enthusiasts driving around and showing off their pride and joy.
The Kilflynn vintage club would like to thank all that participated and raised money for a very worthy cause, to everyone who supported the event, and to Parker's bar for provided an excellent Barbecue.
