Review of 2004
Bishop Bill Murphy celebrated the 6.30 p.m mass on Saturday evening last at a packed St.Mary's church, Kilflynn, and was assisted by Fr.Pat O'Donnell. Refreshments were served in St. Columba's Centre where the Bishop met his parishioners afterwards. Kilflynn village was full of action last Sunday afternoon, the place was a blaze of colour and the locals enjoyed seeing the 40 horses and riders leaving the village on their way into the countryside in ideal hunting conditions for the County Kerry Hunt Club. Santa Claus arrived early this year for three local couples with the birth of baby boys recently to Olive and Kevin McKenna,Trish and Con Healy and Geraldine and Mike Parker. Kilflynn Christmas Golf outing was held on Monday 29th December in Castlegregory Golf Course. 30 players participated in a scramble. The Crotta wren boys kept that old custom of going out in the wren on St. Stephen's Day, entertaining the public with music, song and dance. Long may they keep up the tradition.

Kerry and Munster hurling star Shane Brick presented the Crotta Under 12 hurlers their county league medals on Saturday night last before a large crowd at St. Columba's Centre, Kilflynn
Crotta Bord na Nog Hurling Club held a very successful and enjoyable Video Race Night in both Parker's Bar and Cronin's Bar, Kilflynn on Easter Sunday night. There was tote betting in both bars. The club's President Dick Parkinson cut the seal in the video tape and Graham Harris was the official starter,Gerald Byrnes was M.C. and entertainer for the night.
A large gathering of parishioners attended the Golden Jubilee Mass at Tobar Flainn on May Eve and was celebrated by Fr. Jack Fitzgerald, - ^ assisted by Fr. Pat O'Donnell. The procession commenced at St. Mary's Church and the rosary was led by Fr. Pat O'Donnell who said the Mysteries of Light. The names of deceased members of the well committee were remembered at each decade along the way to the Blessed Well and a special tribute was paid to former and present members who so generously give of their time for the upkeep of the shrine. The Kilflynn Dancing Group had a great night out in Ballyroe to end the dancing season. A wonderful meal was followed by a lively night's dancing to the music of John Pat Murphy.

Crotta senior hurlers advanced to the next round of the A.I.B County Championship when they had a one point victory over a gallant Causeway side at Austin Stack's Park, Tralee, the score 0-13 to 1-09 .
The Crotta Senior hurlers made their exit from this years A.I.B County Championship when they were defeated by Ballyheigue in the quarter final on Saturday evening at windswept Austin Stack's Park, Tralee , the score 3-09 to 1-07
Pride of the place goes to Kate Shanahan, daughter of Julie and John Shanahan, The Waterfall, Kilflynn who was crowned the Listowel Harvest Queen.
The T.V tarn ratings went sky high in the locality last Saturday night, as everyone tuned in to the popular 'Winning Streak' programme on RTE1 to watch Maura Barry representing her Mother 'Bobs' Barry of Clounsillagh. There was huge excitement when Maura got the opportunity to spin the wheel where she won €12,500. She won €25,500 plus a holiday in total.
Cronin's Canadian Scramble. 42 golfers took part in the Canadian Scramble on Saturday at Castlegregory Golf Club. The course was in magnificent condition on a fine day, though the last finishers just finished before darkness fell. Abarbeque followed in Cronin's bar with "chef Diarmuid Galvin serving up some nice delicacies.
