KILFLYNN CHRONICLE

Believe it or not it’s been thirty years since the first edition of the Kilflynn Chronicle. It was the brainchild of Fr John Buckley who was curate in the Parish at that time. Since then, fourteen editions have been published. 2024 is also the twentieth anniversary of the first running of the Christmas Cancer Quiz, and the tenth anniversary of the Fairy Festival. To celebrate these milestones, it is intended to publish an ‘Anniversaries’ edition of the magazine, hoping to have it in the shops in early December. The Chronicle is only as good as the material we, the production team, receive. Therefore, if you have an interesting story to tell we would like to hear it. Historical pieces, reports of local groups and organisations, photos, old and new, poetry, indeed, anything of local interest is welcomed for inclusion. The cost of producing a quality magazine is high, so this year we will again publish a directory of all local businesses, with contact numbers, inside the back cover. The price of inclusion is €20, and we ask all local businesses to please support us. Readers always remark that those living away from home love to receive a copy before Christmas. Therefore, in order that the magazine is printed well in advance of Christmas the production team asks that all content is submitted by Monday 28 October. All content should be emailed to kilflynnium@icloud.com or contact John Flaherty at (087) 2352753, Mike Parker at (087) 9794541, Margaret Quille, Joe McAuliffe, T J O’Sullivan, Brendan Tuomey or Frankie Lynch. Old photographs will be returned promptly when scanned. Anyone who would like to help with producing the magazine is more than welcome to join us. To the contributors, the production team is looking forward to hearing from you!
