CROTTA GAA
Crotta Hurling Club community are deeply saddened on hearing of the passing of one of its oldest and most staunch supporters with the death of Kathleen O’ Mahony (née Whelan) of Ballincrossig, Causeway, and late of Garrynagore, Lixnaw, on Sunday 8th September 2024, peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family.
Kathleen was born in the heart of Crotta 94 years ago and had huge pride and passion in the community of her birth throughout her life.
Kathleen took a keen interest in the fortunes of Crotta GAA, and last year’s championship victory was welcomed with great joy and pride by Kathleen.
Of course, championship wins were nothing new for Kathleen as she lived through and could clearly recall the club’s golden era of the 40s. Her late brother John Joe won two championship medals with Crotta in 1950 and 1951.
The flame of Kathleen’s passion for hurling was still burning until her death and the famed green & red flag still flying high over the old homestead since last year.
To Kathleen’s family, neighbours and many friends we extend our heartfelt condolences.
May Kathleen’s gentle soul rest in peace.
