CHRISTMAS LIGHTS
For many years now, Noreen and Michael Murphy ,Dromakee, Kilflynn, have been decorating the outside of their home, with a spectacular Christmas lights display, last year they decided to try and raise funds for the palliative care unit at University Hospital Kerry,Tralee. This year they will be putting a collection box on the fence outside their house , again to try and raise funds for the palliative care unit, Noreen and Michael , would greatly appreciate any amount you can give, all monies raised will go directly to the palliative care unit, so if you’re passing stop and have a look or take photos if you wanted.
CROTTA GAA RESULTS
The quest still continues for a winner of the Big Crotta Hurling Club Jackpot of €18,300.
Due to current Covid-19 guidelines, The Crotta sportsfield, Dromakee, Kilflynn was the venue for the weekly lotto draw on Tuesday 1st December. The Four numbers drawn out of the drum by the Independent observer: Graham Harris, Clounsillagh, Lixnaw were 21,26,28 and 31. There was No winner of €18,300 Jackpot. Congratulations to the following who won €35 in the lucky dip draw: Moss O’Mahony, Dromakee, Kilflynn, Colette Hussey, Lixnaw and Nora-Maire Murphy, Slí Na Faiche, Lixnaw. The Next draw will take place at St. Columbas Centre, Kilflynn, on Monday 7th December in compliance with Covid-19 restrictions. Even though the end of ‘lockdown’ was announced on Friday night, the situation with regard to returning to Mass is not yet quite clear. If public Masses will be celebrated next weekend, it will be necessary to have the booking system that we had, before Level 5 came into operation. If the situation is clearer during the week, I suggest you would contact the Parish Office during the normal office hours. Just as people around the country are asking about how the situation will be at Christmas, it seems that the numbers who will be able to attend the Christmas Night (24th) and Christmas Day Mass will be far smaller than would have been the case in past years. Priests have been advised to think about the best way of responding to the needs of people in this regard and further guidance may be given from our Diocesan Office in the coming weeks. One possibility is to have ‘Christmas Mass’ on Saturday 26th and Sunday 27th in addition to the Masses on 24th and 25th. I have a feeling that, just as GAA followers are disappointed, when they cannot get tickets for Croke Park on All Ireland Semi-Final and Final Days (not in Covid times) Mass-goers at Christmas might have reason to express their disappointment too! Patience and understanding will be helpful in the days leading up to Christmas week. (Fr. Denis O’Mahony)
