KILFLYNN CANCER QUIZ 2023

Don’t forget the Kilflynn Cancer Quiz on Wednesday, December 27th. As well as the usual question answering and raffles the organises would like to announce a very special auction to raise extra funds for our charities, Recovery Haven, Kerry Hospice and Kerry Cancer Support. The Crotta club have presented the organisers with a jersey signed by the 2023 County Champions. In addition, a vintage Crotta jersey has been procured and signed by the surviving members of the 1968 winning team. This is the first time that the men of 68 have been asked to sign a jersey and it must be truly unique to have signed jerseys of County Champions of a club, from fifty-five years apart. Sonny Egan will help auction the jerseys on the night. There will also be musical entertainment from the Breen Brothers, Daragh and Conor.

The organisers would be grateful to receive any donations to raffle or auction. Maybe you could ask a business you regularly deal with for some item, such as a voucher, that we might raffle or sell on the night. Also, if you have any unwanted presents don’t put them in the attic; give them to us to raise much-needed funds for our charities. Even if you can’t attend on the night, we would be grateful of your support in these ways. If interested in bidding for the jerseys or donating items please contact John Flaherty at (087) 2352753 or Mike Parker at (087) 9794541. Any donations can be handed in to John, Mike or to Herbert’s Bar and Shop. Anyone who might like to lend a hand on the night itself please let us know. As always, the organisers thank you for your continued support and look forward to seeing you at Parker’s Pub or Herbert’s Bar on the 27th, kicking-off at 8 30pm sharp!

ALL-IRELAND CAMOGIE INTERMEDIATE CHAMPIONSHIP FINAL

Clanmaurice (Kerry) 1-7 Na Fianna (Meath) 0-7

clanmaurice camogie

There have been super subs and then there is Amy O’Sullivan. With just herself and Elaine Ryall on the Clanmaurice bench – every day this magnificent goes out with just the 17 or, maybe, 18 players – O’Sullivan was sprung from the bench, well, what she did was stick the sliotar into the Na Fianna goal with her very first touch, and that is, in essence, why Clanmaurice are All-Ireland champions. A club formed just over a decade ago, one that has no opposition to play in a county championship, going out to win a Munster Championship and now going to Croke Park and winning an All-Ireland title in the second tier. The Clanmaurice Camogie team is an amazing group of athletes and fantastic ambassadors for Kerry. What a great bunch of players,
Sara Murphy was a deserving Player of the Match award winner, Michelle Costello and Niamh Leen raised the O’Farrelly Cup, and this small but tight group of players will celebrate Christmas early. The team and management received a warm welcome home in Parker’s Pub on Sunday night 17th December from Croke Park with music provide by LEGENDARY Irish singer Derek Warfield and his band the Young Wolfe Tones
A massive congratulations to the Clanmaurice players and management, a magnificent achievement for all, we are especially proud of the Crotta girls Aoife Behan, Jackie Hogan 0-01 and Amy O’Sullivan (1-01).
