HURLING TRAINING RETURNS

Last week was all about the long-awaited return to training for our juvenile teams following an extended winter break. There was also good news for our Adult teams who have received the green light to return to on field activity on May 10th following the government Covid update last week. First to take to the training field drenched in glorious sunshine last Monday evening 26TH April at the Crotta Sportsfield, Dromakee were our U-11s under the guidance of Tom Yank Mc Elligott, J.J Kelliher with a helping hand from Gary Nolan, what a glorious evening to start back.
It was great to see a strong turnout of enthusiastic players who have been waiting for so many months to get the chance to puck a sliotar with their friends again and while the players were training, their parents were using the walkway around the field. A great amenity for the whole community.
Next up on Tuesday evening, the U15s under the guidance of Jerome O’Sullivan, Donal O’Driscoll and Darren Houlihan showed no signs of rustiness and have definitely been training at home during the lockdown.  On Saturday evening the 13s under the guidance of Paul Shanahan, Donal Driscoll, Tom Cronin and Daniel Hurley returned to training and another team definitely began training at home during the lockdown.
On Sunday morning the return to training week for our juvenile teams finished on an incredible high as we welcomed almost 50 players back to U7 and U9 training. It was fantastic for the club to see our pitches full of activity and smiles this week and to see the enthusiasm of players and coaches alike.
It was a fantastic sight to see the sports field in Dromakee, Kilflynn reawaken from its slumber to the sounds of kids laughing and enjoying themselves once again.
New players of all ages and all levels are welcome. Parents and volunteers are also most welcome to help out in any way you can. Crotta GAA would like to thank everyone for their continued compliance with the government guidelines to ensure our return to training continues to run safely for our player.
On a separate note, every playing child and adult must be a registered member of the club to be covered by insurance. Membership can be paid on the club’s new website at www.crottagaa.club

CROTTA CLUB MEMBERSHIP 2021

Some good news rang out from the recent government announcements.
We have been given the green light for group training in pods of 15 from Monday 26th April for underage teams and the Seniors returns on Monday 10th May.
One step in these preparations is to have members registered and in particular playing members. Players of all ages will need to be registered with the GAA via the Club to allow participation in activities and to complete health questionnaires as part of the ‘Return to Play’ protocol.
The GAA has introduced a new on-line system which provides for self-service membership registration and payment for individuals and families. The system is called Foireann, which is Irish for Team, and can be accessed via the Club website www.crottagaa.club or type www.foirean.ie into your internet browser.
Members who set up a ‘ReturnToPlay’ account in 2020 to complete the Health Questionnaires can access their Foireann account by using the same logon id and password as used last year. If you don’t have a ReturnToPlay account then you can register a new account very easily on Foireann. Go to www.foireann.ie and follow the instructions for New users. If you go to the Club website www.crottagaa.club or Club’s social media accounts further information is provided and if you encounter any difficulties contact Crotta club registrar Shane Herbert 0872890087.
