CROTTA COISTE NA NÓG AWARDS

The Crotta Coiste na nÓg Awards took place on Sunday 11th February at a packed St Columbus Centre Kilflynn
The afternoon was in recognition & honour of the fantastic achievements of our young hurler’s. We as a club are immensely proud of all our young players.
Special guest was 4 Time All Ireland and 4 Time All Star Kilkenny shot stopper supreme Eoin Murphy.
Eoin spoke beautifully to the very attentive audience and gave them many encouraging words of advice from his decorated Career.
He then presented awards to the following teams, U13 Div 1 County League, U13 Div 1 North Kerry Championship. U15 Div 1 County League and Tom Healy Cup. U16 Div 1 North Kerry Championship.
Special award on behalf of Coiste na nog went to Crotta mentor Donal O’Driscoll in recognition of his fantastic and continued contribution to player development at Coiste na nÒg level over many years. Tribute was paid also to our wonderful Scor members who brought great success again this year. Sonny Egan and our amazing Scor na nÒg who made it back-to-back county titles last weekend to add to their Munster Title achieved in 2023.
Many thanks to all players, coaches, volunteers, parents, sponsors and supporters who make it possible to keep our underage players active and enjoying their hurling.
On Behalf of Crotta Coiste na nÒg we would like to thank most sincerely Mary and Kevin Galvin who kindly sponsored the food and refreshments at the event. Thanks to Marie Beirne and Trish O’Driscoll and others who help out with the refreshments, also to Paul Shanahan, who was a most genial and very professional MC on the night and contributed to a thoroughly enjoyable evening, and had the centre beautifully decorated in the club colours and photos of the victorious teams on display on the walls. . Go raibh míle maith agat.
It was a very enjoyable afternoon for the players and the club are delighted to have the opportunity to recognise their amazing achievements. Roll on 2024.

CROTTA LOTTO JACKPOT RESULTS

The Crotta hurling club weekly lotto draw was held on Monday night 5th February, at Herbert’s Bar, Kilflynn. The Four numbers drawn out of the drum by the independent observer: Graham Harris, Clounsillagh, Lixnaw were 12,16,25 and 31. There was no winner of the 8,000 Jackpot. Congratulations to the following who won €35 in the lucky dip draw: Liz O’Keeffe, Lixnaw, John O’ Mahony, Leam, Kilflynn and Aiden Behan, Upper Muckenagh, Lixnaw.
The next draw will take place in Parker’s Pub, Kilflynn on Monday night 19th   February  at 10.30p.m with a €8,100 Jackpot.

FITZGIBBON CUP HURLING FINAL

Abbeydorney GAA are hosting the Fitzgibbon Cup Hurling Final on Saturday February 17th at 2.45pm in Tom Healy Park, Abbeydorney. There is a large crowd expected at the match so we would like to make the public and community aware of the increased traffic volumes that will be in the area before and after the game. Having led by seven points at half time, Kerry conceded 2-8 without reply as Down ran out seven-point winners in Ballycran
The Crotta club was represented  by Tomas O’Connor who captained the Kerry side and Bill Keane  who came on as a sub. Kerry’s next game is against Meath in Tralee

SHANNOW FAMILY RESOURCE CENTRE

Shannow Family Resource Centre has the following programmes coming up.
Turnaround Programme – this is a 7 week programme for parents where we provide support and guidance on how to use the Turnaround Programme at home with their children.  This programme helps children aged 6 to 12 year with anxiety/fears.  Materials provided by Shannow include a USB with the digital aids used at home with your children and also the Turnaround Journal which is also used by the children with the parents’ help.  Starting Tuesday 20th February from 10am to 12 noon.  Cost €15.  If you have any queries or would like to book a place contact Shannow FRC on 0667198018.
Kids Movement & Games – starts Tuesday 20th February from 3.30pm to 4.30pm, and will run for 5 weeks at a total cost of €20.  Suitable for children aged 7 to 12 years.  They will do activities such as gentle exercise, music, dance, games, relaxation techniques and more.  To book a place contact Shannow FRC on 0667198018.
