Thirteen children commenced their education in Junior Infants in St.Teresa’s National School, Kilflynn on Wednesday 30th August Best of luck to the children who are starting primary and post primary for the first time. This is a very special time of year for them, and one that will stay with them for many years to come. Also, best of luck to the Teachers and staff in their new School term.

WEDDING BELLS

Heartiest Congratulations and best wishes go to Sorcha Tuomey, daughter of Paud and Noreen Tuomey, The Waterfall, Kilflynn and Gavin O’Donnell, son of Brendan and Anne O’Donnell, Tarbert who were married  In The Lodge. Ballygarry Estate & Spa on Saturday 26th August. The bridesmaids were Grainne Bennett , Aisling McElligott and Siobhan McCarthy Bestman was John Harrington, Groomsmen were James Wren, Hugh O’Donnell
Flower Girl Orla O’Donnell and Pageboy Fionn O’Donnell The wedding reception was held in Ballygarry Estate Hotel and Spa, Tralee. The couple will reside in Abbeydorney. We wish Sorcha and Gavin Many Happy years of married life together.

SPLIT THE BUCKET

The draw for the June/July Kilflynn Community Together “Split the Bucket” took place on Monday 31st July, in Parker’s Pub, Kilflynn. The winner of the June/July draw was Sonny Egan, Garrynagore, Lixnaw. The Bucket total was €212 and the split was €106. Congratulations to Sonny.Thank you all for the great response and support. Pauline Gleasure, Tullig, Kilflynn drew the winning ticket, which was bought in Parker’s Pub. Funds raised will be used for projects that will benefit and improve Kilflynn. Your support is greatly appreciated. The next draw for the Kilflynn Community Together “Split the Bucket” will take place Saturday, 30th September in Herbert’s Bar, Kilflynn @ 10:00pm. Get your entries in (as many as you like) before Saturday night 30th September! It could be your lucky Night! We have buckets at various businesses around Kilflynn: Parkers Pub, Herbert’s Bar and Zam Zam Kebab. The concept of the draw is simple, simply place your €2 into the envelope at the venue, write your name and phone on the envelope and you could possibly ‘split the bucket!’

Unfortunately diue to an injury to one of the band members this event has been postponed to a later date.

U-17S ELEVENS OF KERRY

The first night of the Ryall’s Travel U17 Elevens of Kerry Tournament took place on Monday evening 28th August in the Kerry Centre of Excellence in Currans.
Crotta first game was against Firies with the lads winning 2-09 to 1-05
In their second game they faced Ardfert (White) and prevailed on a scoreline of 2-04 to 1-04
The mentors are very proud of all the lads  who played some nice Hurling throughout the two games.
The second night of the tournament is Monday September 4th @ in Currans.

ACTIVE RETIRED GROUP

Abbeydorney/Kilflynn Active Retired Group meetings resume after their summer break on Wednesday 6th September 2023 at 10.30am in the Abbeydorney Parish Hall. New members are always welcome. Please contact 066 7135831 if you have any queries regarding joining our active retired group.

PATTERN DAY MASS

In Ballyheigue – Friday 8th September. At Our Lady’s Well and Grotto, Bishop Ray Browne will celebrate Ballyheigue’s Pattern Day Mass at 11.00 a.m. You are all welcome to come and join us on this special day as we celebrate Our Lady’s birthday.

CROTTA LOTTO RESULTS

The Crotta hurling club weekly lotto draw was held on Monday night 28th August night  at Herbert’s Bar, Kilflynn. The Four numbers drawn out of the drum by the independent observer: Graham Harris, Clounsillagh, Lixnaw were 13,17,23 and 32. There was no winner of the 5,600 Jackpot. Congratulations to the following who won €35 in the lucky dip draw: Brendan Clifford, Milltown, Abbeydorney, John Mahony,Leam, Kilflynn.
And Paddy, Shane and Mike C/o Parker’s Pub, Kilflynn.
The next draw will take place in Herbert’s Bar, Kilflynn on Monday 4th September at 10.30p.m with a €5,700 Jackpot.
