Extract from Bishop Ray Browne’s letter regarding Covid restrictions: It is great news that we will be able to welcome more people to our churches from September 6th. The hope is that on October 22nd, the majority of all public health restrictions will be lifted, but this will be subject to the prevailing public health advice. It is therefore important that all of the current protective measures continue to be observed so as to ensure that our churches remain safe places for people to visit and attend. The incidence rate of Covid-19 within the Diocese remains a cause for concern and for that reason we recommend the following in relation to Baptisms, First Holy Communions & Confirmations: – • Baptisms – Continue to keep numbers attending Baptisms limited to immediate family members, (including Godparents and Grandparents). • First Communion & Confirmation – Limit the numbers attending to immediate family only, namely, parents and siblings of the child and in the case of Confirmations, the sponsor of the child.

ABBEYDORNEY/KILFLYNN COMMUNITY GAMES

It was another proud day for our community as our under 11 Boys hurlers and our under 12 Girls soccer teams travelled to face the might of Munster in the University of Limerick!!
First up was our hurling team who more than matched the very skilful Tipperary side Boherlahan – Dallaglio and with a bit more luck in front of goal might have pulled off the shock that their performance deserved.
It wasn’t to be for our Mighty Men on this occasion but the future is extremely bright for these young stars!!
On an action-packed morning attention then moved to our young under 12 Girls soccer team who despite a lot of nerves and inspired by the boys earlier, put in a huge display against a much more experienced club team from Waterford.
Having conceded a goal late in the first half and with our Goalie and defence putting in Superhero efforts at times it didn’t look as though it was going to be our day.
But in the last minute of normal time, we scored a goal to force extra time with much joy and emotion and possibly could have won it late in normal time.
Unfortunately, the girls’ journey came to an end in extra time but they must remember it is only the start of an incredible few years to come!!!
Thanks a million, to all coaches, parents and of course our players for a fantastic day!!!
