Pencil in the date into your diary Wednesday 28th September. We are back with our couch to 5k/10k programme. We will be there to help you achieve your own personal goals be it to walk or run a kilometre non-stop to running a 5k to a 10k. We are there for you, your family and friends. All age groups, abilities are welcome. All we ask is your dedication and a small donation of €2 to a nominated charity partner each time. CROTTA ARE COUNTY U-21 CHAMPIONS

Congratulations to the Crotta U-21 Hurlers and their management who captured the Acorn Life County U-21 Hurling Championship title in Austin Stack Park, Tralee on Saturday 17th September with a 1-21 to 0-18 victory over Abbeydorney.
Pius Horgan of Acorn Life presented the Man of the match trophy to Crotta’s Rory Mahony.
Congratulations Rory. Kerry Hurling Officer Paudie Dineen presented victorious Crotta Captain Declan O’Donoghue with the County U-21 Hurling Championship Cup (Atlantic Oils Perpetual Cup).

CLÁR FUNDING FOR KILFLYNN

FOUR community projects will receive funding of €129,292.75 under the CLÁR programme.
Under this round of CLÁR funding, sports clubs, schools and community groups will receive grants of up to €50,000 to develop a range of projects that will benefit people of all ages.
The successful projects include AstroTurf pitches, community gyms, playgrounds, basketball and tennis courts, outdoor pool tables, outdoor cinemas, walkways, public toilets and car park facilities.
The four successful projects receiving funding are:

Duagh Sports and Leisure Complex is receiving €50,000 for the expansion of the car park at the Duagh Sports and Leisure Complex.
Kerry Parents and Friends, Valentia is receiving €42,792 for the development of a sensory garden at Tigh an Oileáin, Valentia Island.
Scoil Naisiunta on Fhaill Mhor (Foilmore NS) is receiving €31,500 for the resurfacing and improvements to the car parking area.
Kilflynn Community Together is receiving €5,000 to develop the Kilflynn Nature Garden

Welcoming the news, Kerry Fianna Fáil TD and Minister for Education, Norma Foley said: “I am delighted that four key community projects and organisations in Kerry are being supported through this tranche of CLÁR funding.
“This round of CLÁR investment will help to enhance and upgrade a range of vital outdoor community amenities, from car parks to sensory gardens, which greatly enrich and improve the local amenities in those areas.”

KILFLYNN TODDLER GROUP

The Kilflynn toddler group is back! Started on Thursday 8th September, we will be in St. Columbus Hall in Kilflynn at 10.00-11.30 am. Please come yourself and bring some friends, plenty of toys, laughter, chats and finally that hot cuppa with some sweets.

CROTTA LOTTO RESULTS

The Crotta hurling club weekly lotto draw was held on Monday 19th September at Parker’s Pub, Kilflynn.
The Four numbers drawn out of the drum by the independent observer: Sonny Egan, Garrynagore, Lixnaw were 4,12,28 and 32.
There was no winner of the 3,200 Jackpot. Congratulations to the following who won €35 in the lucky dip draw:
Norma O’Donnell, Toureen, Kilflynn and Paul Culhane, Crotta, Kilflynn and Pete McGrath, Castletown, Kilflynn.
The next draw will take place in Herbert’s Bar, Kilflynn on Monday 26th September at 10.30p.m with a €3,300 Jackpot.

RECOVERY HAVEN KERRY

Cancer support group have a new course commencing “Seasons for Growth” on Thursday the 22nd September from 7-9.30pm.. This free course, which is funded by the Kerry ETB, runs for eight weeks. For information contact 066 7192122

CROTTA GAA CLUB

are looking for YOU….
Yes ….we are seeking people from our community (Aged over 17 yrs.) to represent Crotta Hurling Club as part of Scor.
So if you’re a quiz wiz, play an instrument, sing or have the gift of storytelling please get in touch with Scor officer Tom Breen on 087-2748555.
Once we have a list of those interested in taking part this will provide a fuller picture on how best we proceed with the clubs entries for 2022/ 20023
The 2022/23 Season of Scór will begin this year with Scór Sinsír.
Items to note:

  • The County Final will take place on Friday October 7th in Currow Community Hall
  • The Trath Na gceist will begin at 7pm and the main competition will begin at 7.30pm.
  • This year all entries in Scór Sinsír will go straight to the county final, No district finals for Scór Sinsír only.
  • The Munster Final of Scór Sinsír will take place on Oct 16th, venue to be Confirmed.
