COVID-19 Support Line for Older People
ALONE manage a national support line and additional supports for older people who have concerns or are facing difficulties relating to COVID-19. The support line is open seven days a week, 8am – 8pm, by calling 0818 222 024.
CROTTA LOTTO RESULTS
Due to current Covid-19 guidelines, The Crotta sportsfield, Dromakee, Kilflynn was the venue for the Crotta hurling club weekly lotto draw on Tuesday 23rd February. The Four numbers drawn out of the drum by the Independent observer: Graham Harris, Clounsillagh, Lixnaw were 7,22,24 and 27.
There was no winner of the 2,300 Jackpot. Congratulations to the following who won €35 in the lucky dip draw:

Contribution to Sightsavers: I am happy to inform you that I sent the amount of €900 to Sightsavers recently. The money came, since I made the appeal a few months ago, from donations big and small (including €150 contributed to the box at the Christmas Tree in Kilflynn Church.) The organisation’s ‘Fund-Raising Manager’, Ciara Smullen, wrote, in her letter of appreciation: ‘We are delighted with the support from your parishioners, which is helping us to eliminate av the support from your parishioners, which is helping us to eliminate avoidable blindness in the countries where we work.’

SYMPATHIES
On behalf of the community, we offer our sincere sympathy to Sarah O’Flaherty, Fahavane Kilflynn and Killarney on the death of her mother, Valerie McConkey (nee McShane) (Milford Grange, Castletroy, Limerick) who passed peacefully at the Park Nursing Home on Thursday 4th February, also to her son-in-law John O’Flaherty, grandchildren Jack and Kate O’Flaherty, extended family and friends. May she rest in peace.
CROKE PARK UPDATE
GAA headquarters issued an update last week on the current Covid restrictions. A return to inter-county play is not permitted at present and this position is not expected to change in the coming weeks. The GAA’s Covid Advisory group expects that no on-field activity will be permitted until Easter at the earliest. It is expected that the Governments updated ‘Living with Covid’ plan will provide clarity on when clubs and counties can return to training and games in 2021.
eVETTING AND SAFEGUARDING
We have been notified that everyone who hasn’t done Garda evetting with the GAA or LGFA within the last 3 years must do so again.
Also, a Safeguarding course which is a requirement must be done through the GAA / LGFA as other organisations and sports would not cover specifics. Child welfare courses are coming up online.
